Moon comic!
Please don't jump me for this but I actually really like Chiwa I think she's cute. To be honest I'm always bias towards the genki childhood friend trope, so thats probably why. I feel like the only time I see people bring up Chiwa is to bash her so they can glaze Amo which I get because shes a character who has like a chapter worth of content and Amo is the goat, but it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I kinda get the same feeling from when your talking badly a girl with a male friend for valid reasons but then they call her a bitch, or say something misogynistic and irrelevant and it reminds you that you are the just the exception and not the rule. I realize this is pretty extreme considering Chiwa is a fictional character, but still it makes me sad.
To me it seemed like she legitimately liked Rudo and never had any subconscious thoughts about him being a murderer because we only see her scold him for collecting the trash because it actively puts his life in danger and she tells him when they are looking over the pit that "There's a lot of trash I think doesn't deserve to be thrown away... but its not worth getting caught over." which is fair because she cares about him and its a crime she 100% knows hes commiting, but the only time she brings up the murderer thing is when those boys were calling him a murderer and she defended him, and it seemed like she was reassuring him rather than telling herself that. Her reaction when she first over hears someone say Rudo murder someone she says "No way... Rudo...?" and she only drops the plushie and say hes the son of a murderer after she sees him covered in blood and literally being executed for murder.
Anyways, sorry for over explaining an irrelevant character, but I have a lot of love for her. To be honest character writing isn't my strong point, so I hope her yelling at Rudo in this comic doesn't make her seem evil. but more of an explosion of emotions that were repressed for a very long time during like the most stressful experience a sphereite child can experience. If she is unlikeable in this comic thats my bad.
Also please don't jump me for the ships, I know shippers take their ships seriously, so I like AmoRudo as well, I just think the idea of AmoRudo having more of a bromace and fighting over a girl is very cute. Instead of Chiwa bashing they bash each other for Chiwa.
(Also sorry Corvus and Enjin fans I'm really bad at drawing more masculine men, I tired to make them cool but I'm afraid I still gave Corvus a little too much moe, haha. then again I guess Corvus's charm point is his moe.)
is there such a thing as a beta but instead of reading for line edits or plot notes, they just read my work and recommend what tags to put on ao3 outside of like. warnings.

so much text and no gayness. only talking about talent vs effort once again
this is modern au where zanka is in uni/college last year and enjin is something like his homeroom teacher, someone who works with this specific group for years. also maybe initially some distant family friend or something. he's a solid mentor figure here that means a lot for zanka (just like in canon, i guess) i didn't really think through what their majors are and im just kinda hoping it can work universally
I needed to see this today.
People love natives in such a superficial way. People wanna stand with natives when we’re talking about the trees, and the land. People wanna stand with natives when we talk about philosophies of love and togetherness. But as soon as it’s time to talk about political side of being native. About dismantling a system built on the genocide of our people. About how we need a new system that isn’t built upon capital gain and benefitting white bodies. About putting up a fight. About how the colonial state we reside in is a disgusting imperial plague on this land. Suddenly y’all don’t wanna talk native.
"They spent hundreds of years trying to assimilate my ancestors, trying to create indians like me, who could blend in, but now they don’t want me either. They can’t make up their minds.
They want buckskin and face paint, drumming, songs in languages they can’t understand recorded for them but with English subtitles, of course. They want educated, well spoken, but not too smart. Christian, well behaved, never question. They want to learn the history of the people, but not the ones that are here now, waving signs in their faces, asking them for clean drinking water, asking them why their women are going missing, asking them why their land is being ruined.
They want fantastical stories of Indians that used to roam this land. They want my culture behind glass in a museum.
But they don’t want me." -Shelby Lisk
Mfs just be drawing whatever

heh. didn't even stand a chance.
to everyone in the notes asking for a translation: panel 1: "weigh your heart" (the suffix pronoun for heart should be .k not .ti i think but i see what you are going for. also, my copy of faulkner doesn't have a copy of the word but it's pretty clear from context what it means) panel 4: "what"
anyway op good job this is really funny and better than 99.9% of hieroglyphs on the internet
@thatlittleegyptologist
xAa is 'to throw/dispatch/abandon' because fAj is the verb 'to weigh' (this can be checked on the Thesaurus Linguae Aegyptiae), .tj should be =k as already pointed out.
Thus with xAa as the imperative 'dispact/throw', the scales determinative doesn't belong to that word and is thus a word in and of itself the 3-consonant jws.w (the .w is just a plural, it's still 3-consonants), and then .tj which should be =k.
It's more: xAa jws.w ib=k 'chuck your heart on the scales' *ma'at gets obliterated* ptr 'what'.
As an aside; it's not good practice with Middle Egyptian to go 'we can infer this from context' when you can't find that word in one dictionary. You should be consulting at least three. Also, because my ass has been doing this for nearly 20 years, just so you're all aware xAa is in Faulkner:
This is page 183 of my personal copy of Faulkner's Concise Dictionary of Middle Egyptian. xAa is right there! You'll see that the picture of the entry for the TLA also cites it as FCD 'Faulkner's Concise Dictionary' 183.
You know the art is good when the academics start getting spicy in the notes
traumadumping is rude. and like most rude things there are situations in which they are warranted. it’s a weapon. you don’t strike first but you might strike back if provoked. for example you can’t drop that bit of tragedy in a casual conversation but you can absolutely drop it when someone is really rude to you in public to make them uncomfortable

Hey y'all why are writers always cold?
...why?
They're always surrounded by drafts!
How many mystery writers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Oh god.
How many?
Two! One to change the bulb, and the other to give it an unexpected twist at the end!
What do writers have for breakfast?
Coffee?
Synonym buns!
Where do all the struggling writers live?
How are you coming up with all these?
Where?
Writer's Block!
What do writers suffer from each spring?
(I've heard a lot of them over the years.)
Allergies. Next question.
you were close; A case of allegories
Why are writers always in great shape?
Circular prose
Nope! It's because we're always running out of ideas!
Did you hear about the famous writer who turned out to be a fraud?
I did not
His life had it's prose and cons...
Why is editing a better job than writing?
It's more rewording?
Correct! I am out of jokes. :(
