This is the vicious man-eating sea creature everyone was running from at the beach when all it wanted was a belly rub #manatee Be aware that manatees are a protected species. It is illegal to harass or disturb them out in the wild. I've seen people giving them fresh water off of boats or boat docks. This only encourages them to get near boats, which can cause them serious harm.

The Miami River once had an abundance of freshwater springs, including some rapids along its stretch. Some of the early inhabitants were the Tequesta Indians, and Spanish explores described the residents along the river as the "Maimís". Today, the river is heavily polluted and there has been some recent efforts to improve its conditions. #Miamiriver
