Parallels/Similarities between Harry Potter & Tom Riddle
1. Biography
Black hair & physical resemblance to their fathers.
Orphans raised by Muggles.
Half-bloods & Parselmouths.
Born on the 31st (July / December).
Descendants of the Peverells (literally: Death’s sons).
A box of stolen toys: Harry kept Dudley’s things; Tom kept trophies from the orphanage.
Skilled in flying: On broomsticks (Harry); without them (Tom).
2. Magic & Connection
Wand cores: Feathers from the same phoenix.
Both found their salvation in magic.
Bound by fate, prophecy, soul, blood, and mind.
Limbo: Both have passed through "King's Cross," the station between worlds.
Death: Tom tried to conquer it; Harry became its Master.
Еye colors reflect their signature spells (green — "Avada Kedavra"; red — "Expelliarmus").
Combat styles: Voldemort excels at offense(in the final battle, he fought three Order members at once); Harry excels at defense(in the final battle, he cast Protego over the entire Great Hall).

The Grey Lady: Both convinced her to reveal the location of Ravenclaw’s diadem.
The Shrieking Shack: Both attacked Snape there (Harry — Book 3; Voldemort — Book 7).
The Defiance of Authority: Throughout all the books, Harry deliberately avoids saying “sir” or “professor” when addressing Snape; In HP and the Half-Blood Prince, Chapter 13: Tom deliberately avoids saying “sir” or “professor” when addressing Dumbledore.
To which Dumbledore either reminds them — or gives a very pointed look — until the boys correct themselves.
The Shared Secret: > Dumbledore: "Is there something you wish to tell me?"
Harry & Tom: "No, sir, nothing."
4. Book events
Gringotts: The first in history to successfully break in.
The Azkaban Loyalty (Book 3): Both proved the loyalty of escaped prisoners and brought them back to their side (Barty Crouch Jr. / Sirius Black).
Father Figures: Barty Crouch Jr. wanted Voldemort as a father figure; Sirius Black wanted to see Harry as a reflection of his father, James.
Defining the Man: In Book 4, during the duel, Voldemort says to Harry, “And now you face me, like a man…”; in Book 7, in the final battle, Harry says to Voldemort, “Be a man… try… Try for some remorse…”
The Circles: In Book 4, they stand in a circle surrounded by the Dark side during their duel; In Book 7, they stand in a circle surrounded by the Light side during their final confrontation.
The Mirror Ages: In the finale, Voldemort is 71; Harry is 17.
