Toby Keith's “American Soldier” explains the mindset of a selfless American Soldier who is on his way to his deployed station of war. He wrote and released this song just one week after 9/11 terrorist attacks with the intention of playing it for the troops in the USO tours. This song reminds me of Lamar in a sense that he is a selfless American veteran who works his very hardest to be a provider for his sons, a great example for them, and making sure he pays his rent on time.
