I stared up at the pale blue sky. It looked like a painting, a mixture of multiple different shades of pastel blue brushed with one another, going from light to dark. Next to it, the sun, bright and gleaming in the sky, spreading warmth and life across the glowing green landscape of the ginormous park.
I turned my head to the right to see a pair of eyes looking back at me. As soon as my eyes met his, he flipped his head around to the front, pretending it never happened.
I smirked a little and turned my face back up to the sky. Squinting at the light, I almost didn’t notice his hand slowly creeping up to mine, gently laying above it, his body heat sending shivers up my spine.
I watched him from the corner of my eye, how could anyone look so perfect. The way the sun glistened on his face, accentuating his cheekbones and freckles across his cheeks.
He suddenly removed his hand from mine and stood up, reaching his hand out towards me.
“Do you want to go for a walk?”
As those words slipped off his tongue, my nerves ceased, suddenly feeling very calm and relaxed, despite the beautiful boy staring down at me.
“Of course.” I replied as I quickly stood up and smoothed out my dress.
And we walked, hand in hand, around the park filled with people enjoying their Saturday morning. There were beautiful trees and bushes all around the bright yellow sidewalk, complete with a refreshing breeze hitting us across the face.
As we walked, we quietly chatted, occasionally pointing to the sights that appeared around us.
Soon, we walked up to a field of beautiful, blooming bright yellow sunflowers. I lightly gasped as I took in the sight of the thousands of flowers glistening in the light.
I looked up as he was already staring down at me, grinning. He let go of my hand and jogged towards the tiny brown fence separating the sidewalk and the field.
“No, stop. We’re not allowed to do that.” I complained.
He shrugged and continued on his way, as I sent him a deathly glare. He reached between the rusty bars of the slowly decaying fence, and picked a small sunflower from the ground.
I shook my head in disappointment as he strolled up to me with a childish glint in his eyes as he happily showed me the flower.
I crossed my arms and looked away as he groaned.
“I picked it for you, it matches your dress.”
I looked back at his face to see him making puppy eyes at me, the sun in his eyes making it even more unbearable.
I closed my eyes and debated whether I would let this pass.
“Forgive me?” he said in the tiniest of voices.
I raised one eyebrow at him as I heard him shuffling closer to me, as he slowly pushed my hair behind my ear and gently placed the flower in my hair.
I opened my eyes and smiled. “Okay, I forgive you.”
