Hey Mark,
do you think you have to feign ignorance about upcoming cards on this blog more often than when you actually don't know?
I both feign ignorance and am ignorant. : )
Does Vorthos, Steward of Myth work across IPs? There's now 3 different Universes Beyond with a "Loki" (all based on the same Norse Mythology one)
Yes.
How many Mood Swings cards have clear analogues to MtG cards? Are there any that are, game specific details aside, direct translations?
There are a few with the same name and an ability that’s close. There are others mimicking common effects in Magic.
First of congrats on launching Mood Swings! Is there anything you'd approach differently with it or is it too early to tell?
A Mood Swings discord has started, and through discussion there, I’ve learned the Power Duel deck construction rules need to be tweaked, so my design team is working on that.
heya mark! just curious, are we only going to see fantasy gnomes in dnd related sets and mechanical gnomes in universes within sets, or is there a chance to see fantasy gnomes on a magic plane somewhere? does kithkin completely fill that spot already in your opinion?
I think we could see nonartifact Gnomes on an in-Multiverse plane.
I recently built a face-down deck using Yarus, Roar of the Old God's and im so in love with the concept. Do you know if morph/manifest effects are gonna see a return in the near future?
I assume we’ll make more.
is high tide a color break? What colors would get it today?
Yes. Red and green could get the effect.
Hi Mark, I was wondering how Wizards decides if the art on a card will be changed when it's reprinted. Thanks for taking the time for answers, & congrats on mood swings!
It’s up to the discretion of the art director. One of the biggest factors is how many new art pieces a set gets.
Can Creativity only copy moods in play in our own current game? The card-by-card notes doesn't say.
Yes. Creativity only copies moods and moods are cards in play.
Hi Mark, can I request for an Abzan mana dork? Other Green three colors have one.
It’s something we could think about.
Why does Blue care about "perfection"? What's the point of being perfect?
Everyone is born a blank slate (a “tabla rasa”) and it is their job to become the best version of themselves they can be through education, experience, and technology. That is the true object of life, becoming the best version of yourself.
How much harder is it to design a common card than the next hardest rarity?
Original, elegant commons are very hard to design. Most commons are just riffs on existing cards. Those are less hard.
Mythic rares are probably the next hardest. Then uncommons, then rares.
A comment, then a question. Firstly, thank you for persevering with Mood Swings. I just ordered my 3 deck boxes, hoping for maximum distribution and minimal duplicates. (5 seemed too many, 2 or less not enough)
Now- I don’t recall seeing anything about it, but do cards in Mood Swings have different rarities?
Yes, there are four different rarities. Here’s how many cards you get in a game along with how many exist in each rarity:
Commons: You get 23 out of 48
Uncommons: You get 14 out of 40
Rares: You get 6 out of 30
Mythics: You get 2 out of 15
Did Lorwyn Eclipsed have any impact on Kindred's place on the Storm Scale?
Not really.
If an effect is in a color in magic, it'll be in the same color in mood swings, right? What if an effect appears in mood swings first, then later in magic? Would you try to keep the color consistent in that case as well?
I’m not sure anything that Mood Swings is doing that Magic isn’t would make sense in Magic.
Is there any interest or plans to do another Battlebond set?
Is that something you all would like to see?
