What Happens Next

The anticipation of what happens next isn't the thing that holds my fear. It's what doesn't happen. Maybe I become the punchline, the needed component of a misguided joke - the whistle echoing among the tombstones. Will my memory stand on a rocky foundation, rooted in the loose soil of forgotten friendships, beyond all doubt. But that's okay, I'm deserving of such a fate. I just hope they know that I truly loved them, without measure. Perhaps that's what I truly fear, they will never recognize how much I loved them, absent of hesitation, void of reason and the complete lack of malice. I might be fucked in my thinking but I'm not fucked. Word!
