I know some people aren't as appreciative of your fics here. I am though. Have you thought of moving to a03? It's much less toxic there and more supportive.
I actually moved from ao3 to tumblr. The reader response here never really bothered me that much, but usually when I switch platforms, it's because my writing has shifted. I have no problem with writing on Tumblr or Ao3, I just haven't felt like writing in a while
Bestie are u okay?? Haven’t heard from you in a while
I'm good! I just dropped off my Marvel phase cause the recent movies haven't been the best, and all the Wanda fics are just dark smut and I got tired of it. I also haven't written anything creatively for 8 months, mostly due to lack of time and inspiration. But I check this account everyday. I've seen all the people asking where I've been, rest assured I'm perfectly happy and fine, but I appreciate all of you asking!

Steve shot up from his bed at the sound of Y/n letting out a heart wrenching screech from outside. He ran and grabbed his shield which was situated on its stand before running out of the room as fast as he could. When he entered the living room, he was expecting to see an entire fleet of soldiers ready to attack him, but instead,
He was met with Y/n sitting on the couch, one hand over her chest while the other covered her mouth in shock, staring wide eyed at the television in front of her.
“Now ladies… Sashay away.” Another scream of disbelief left Y/n’s mouth, causing Steve to flinch. When he realized there was no real danger, he let out a tired sigh and dropped his shield to the ground.
“Why are you screaming?” Steve asked in confusion, causing Y/n to pause her show and look at Steve as if the answer wasn’t already obvious.
“It was the first ever double elimination!” Y/n exclaimed and Steve looked to the TV to see a… He didn’t know if the person on the screen was a man or a woman. He just woke up so his brain wasn’t able to process, all he knew was that they looked very pretty.
“Elimination of what?” Was this one of those crime shows Sam was always watching? He imagined Law and Order to be a lot less glamorous than this.
“The queens!” Y/n exclaimed as she unpaused the show, and the camera cut to two, Steve assumes, “queens” walking off a stage with dramatic music playing in the background.
“Queens? Like Queen Elizabeth? Or Queens, New York?” Steve asked, still confused, and Y/n scoffed out in disbelief as she paused the show again.
“The queens of Drag Race, Steve!”
“Oh, like the cars!” Steve said enthusiastically while pointing at Y/n with a big smile on his face, thinking that he got it. But Y/n furrowed her eyebrows in confusion because she had completely forgotten that Drag Race meant a whole different thing to certain people.
“I- No, not- You know what? Sit, sit, sit!” Y/n said, moving over and patting the empty space on the couch next to her as she frantically urged Steve over to her.
“I’m not sure what I’m getting myself into here.” Steve said with a bit of a tired chuckle. He woke up on the verge of a heart attack because he thought Y/n was being murdered, and now, she’s teaching him about whatever drag queens are.
“Sometimes I forget you’re a literal antique.” Y/n started, causing Steve to thin his lips into a line because he’s heard that same joke in all the different variations a million times now. “But because of that, I’m going to teach you about the world of RuPaul’s Drag Race and drag queens in general.”
“I thought I graduated from school decades ago.” The word ‘decade’ being an understatement in his case.
“Well, the American school system never taught its students about Drag Race or drag queens, so maybe that’s why everyone here is so uneducated.” Y/n said jokingly as she leaned back and got a pillow, hugging against her so she could get comfortable, because this was going to be a lot for Steve’s old mind.
“What do you know about drag queens? Or just doing drag in general?” Y/n asked to get a sense of what she was working with.
“...”
“Okay, you just said a lot with nothing. That’s fine.” Y/n said when Steve just stared at her awkwardly after her question. Then, a light bulb lit up in her head, causing her to clap her hands to getter and Steve to flinch from the suddenness of it.
“Have you ever watched Some Like It Hot?” Y/n asked, pointing excitedly at Steve.
“Yes, but that came out in the fifties, so you’re probably thinking the wrong thing.” Steve said, knowing that Y/n only assumed he knew it because it’s an old movie and he was, well, old.
“Well, shit. But anyway! So the main characters are crossdressing right?” Y/n asked and Steve nodded in reply.
“Well, crossdressing is sort of like doing drag, but it’s still very different. When you’re crossdressing, you want to pass as the gender you’re crossdressing as.” Y/n explained while Steve nodded along to her words to show that he was listening.
“But when you’re doing drag, it’s not about passing. Sure, you’re dressing as the opposite gender, but it’s more of an illusion of it. The goal is not to convince people you’re the other gender, the goal is to embody the things about the other gender.” Y/n paused and looked at Steve to garner his reaction, and the way his eyebrows were practically reaching his forehead from how high it was raised told her enough.
“Okay, so look at them.” Y/n said, pointing at the TV where a line of drag queens stood with shocked expressions on their faces.
“They’re beautiful, they’re feminine, they’re glamorous.” Y/n listed off and Steve nodded in agreement. “But you know they’re men underneath.”
“Yes, I can see that.” Steve said and Y/n nodded.
“Drag race is about entertaining, it’s sort of like a performance, but there’s so much about it that it’s unfair to just label it like that. I can see your brain is already fried, so I’m gonna leave it at that.” Y/n said and Steve let out a breath of relief.
“So drag is crossdressing… But not crossdressing?” Steve asked hesitantly, unsure if his description was accurate or not.
“...You know what, that’s good enough for now. You’ll learn as you go.” Y/n said with a dismissive wave of her hand. Steve was a fossil, not a sponge, it was going to take a while for all of this to sink in.
“Okay, now Drag Race!” Y/n said, causing Steve to chuckle at her enthusiasm about this whole thing.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race is a reality tv show that’s also a competition. It’s run and hosted by the most famous and well known Drag Queen in the world, RuPaul, and they basically get a bunch of drag queens to do challenges that relate to drag culture.”
“Now,” Y/n’s tone was more serious and she set aside the pillow she was holding onto, shifting in her seat so she was fully facing Steve, reaching out to grab his hands and making Steve look at her cautiously from her sudden shift in attitude.
“I can sit here for the entire day and teach you about drag.” Steve grimaced a bit because he didn’t really know how he felt about that.
“Or, you can learn about the culture from the people who know it best, aka drag queens, by spending the day binge watching an entire season of Drag Race with me.” Y/n said and Steve stared at her for a moment.
“It doesn’t seem like I have a choice.” He said half-jokingly.
“No, you’re in it now, there’s no getting out.” Y/n said as she got the remote and went back to the home page.
“We’re gonna watch season five first.” Y/n said as she scrolled back to the first episode of season five.
“Shouldn’t we start with season one?” Steve asked in confusion.
“It’s not really the type of show that you have to watch in a specific order to enjoy, but also because I’m on season five and I want to share this experience with you.” Y/n said and Steve smiled at that last part.
“Alright then.” Steve didn’t really know what all of this meant and he was unsure about how he felt about it, but he didn’t mind being introduced to something new.
Plus, Y/n seemed passionate about it, so he might as well. He had no plans on how to spend his free time this week, and spending time with Y/n is one of the better ways to spend it.
“My next drag superstars had one thing in common.” RuPaul spoke from the opening of Season five.
“They were all busted and found guilty.”
“See, that line didn’t age well today because the season four winner actually was found guilty.” Y/n said to Steve who furrowed his eyebrows.
“What does that mean?”
“I’ll tell you after we finish, I don’t want to ruin it for you.” Y/n said and though Steve didn’t understand, he simply nodded his head and continued watching.
“Okay, so this part is called the Workroom Entrance. It happens every season, and it’s basically the introduction of every queen of that season.” Y/n said and Steve nodded along.
“Okay, so what does ‘serving up fish’ mean?” Steve asked when Jade Jolie did her entrance.
“It basically means that their drag makes them pass for a woman.” Y/n said and Steve let out an ‘Ohh’ in understanding.
“Why are they called ‘fishy’ though?” Steve asked and Y/n pursed her lips, trying to decide if she should say it or not.
“So you know how a woman’s vagina-”
“That’s alright. I get it now, I don’t need anymore.” Steve said quickly as he grew flustered, causing Y/n to laugh and pat Steve’s shoulder comfortingly.
“Girl, I am gagging.” Alyssa Edwards said after her entrance and Steve raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“Okay, so does that mean what I think it means, or?” Steve asked in a hesitant tone, afraid of what the answer was.
“I don’t know, Steve. What do you think it means?” Y/n asked with a teasing smile. It was very amusing to see Steve react to all this linggo.
“Does it mean… You know, the… When a woman gags on a pen-”
“Steve, no!” Y/n said, cackling with laughter at how red Steve had become trying to explain it.
“Why do you automatically think that!” Y/n asked even though she knew exactly why.
“Well, because the last thing was about a woman’s… You know, thing, so I assumed it was gonna be about that too!” Steve said and Y/n laughed once more, finding so much entertainment in seeing Steve like this.
“No, gagging just means you’re amazed, or you’re so shocked that it made your entire being react.” Y/n explained and Steve stammered before letting out a sigh of embarrassment.
“It’s okay, Steve. You’re learning.” Y/n said while giggling, still amused from his reaction.
“Hello boys! My name’s Penny Tration-” Steve felt himself choke on his own spit from the name, and Y/n started laughing once more.
“What are these names? Detox? Roxxxy Andrews? Penny Tration?” Steve asked once he regained himself.
“They’re their drag names. Their drag personas are different from their real life names. But even if they’re sort of characters, their drag personas are still sort of part of who they are. It’s like a mix.”
“So, I have another question…” Steve said, a bit more hesitant about this one than his other questions.
“Go on.” Y/n said when he saw how unsure Steve was acting.
“Are they… Cause I hear them calling each other ‘she’, but they’re men right?” Steve asked and Y/n quickly paused the show and turned to face Steve fully again.
“Okay, so with drag queens, it’s not super black and white. It’s very versatile with them, but it’s honestly up to the drag queen herself.” Y/n started and Steve nodded in understanding.
“You can call a drag queen ‘she’, and she won’t mind. You can call a drag queen ‘he’, and he probably won’t mind. The best thing to do is ask rather than assume. But if you call a drag queen ‘he’ to emphasize the fact that they’re actually a man, then there’s a problem. It’s all about intention.”
“They know they’re men. They’re perfectly aware, so if they start calling themselves ‘she’, do not correct them and call them ‘he’ as if to ‘remind’ them that they’re men. That’s a very disrespectful and awful thing to do.” Y/n said in a pointed tone and Steve nodded in a more sure way this time.
“Got it. So, are all drag queens men?” Steve said and Y/n snapped her fingers.
“That is a very good question. If I had a gold star, I’d give it to you right now.” Y/n said and Steve looked down to smile at himself proudly for that one.
“No, not every drag queen is a man. Sometimes there are drag queens who are also trans women. Do you know what trans people are?” Y/n asked, actually not sure if Steve had been exposed to it yet.
“Yes! I actually do!” Steve exclaimed, excited that he finally knew something.
“Good! Now in those cases, if a drag queen is a trans woman, we only refer to her as she. But the golden rule is to refer to people by the pronoun they want to be referred to.” Y/n said.
“Okay, I can stand by that.” Steve said, more confident in his knowledge now. Y/n grinned at him. Though Steve was the literal definition of old-school, there was no doubt in her mind that he would be open about this entire thing.
This was the same man who, in the 40s, was faced with a man with German origins to evaluate him for the military, and didn’t mind and even grew a close connection with him. This was also the same man that saw a woman who wasn’t American be a big figure in their station and respected her as much as he respected his other peers, and he had an entire squadron by his side with different backgrounds. If anyone was gonna be accepting of things that were out of the ordinary, it would be Steve.
They continued watching season five together with Y/n answering all the questions Steve had to ask her. As they went along and Steve learned more, he became increasingly more interested in the show, which Y/n was very happy to see.
“Girl, you had rolls all over the place in the back, it was disgusting!” Y/n let out a screech while Steve sat up with wide eyes in shock.
“Back rolls?”
“Was that a ‘read’?” Steve asked and Y/n, who was still laughing, nodded in response.
“Oh it definitely was!” Y/n said and Steve shook his head in wonder.
“These girls are vicious.” Steve said while Y/n nodded in agreement.
“Miss Jinkx, standing over there looking like the Mad Hatter right now.”
“Coco, why are you still doing your ventriloquist dummy make-up?” To Y/n’s surprise, Steve let out a laugh that was a borderline cackle at Jinkx’s comeback.
“I like her the most out of everyone.” Steve said, pointing at the screen when Jinkx came on, causing Y/n to smile.
“I thought you would.” Leave it to Steve to root for the underdogs.
“I’m not gonna be meandering all over the stage, I just want them to focus on my mouth, and hope what I’m doing is better than what she’s doing.” Steve clicked tutted in a disappointed manner while shaking his head.
“She shouldn’t have done that.” Steve said while Y/n nodded in agreement.
“She’s up against a dancer, relying on the mouth movement for the lip sync isn’t gonna play well against her.” Steve said and Y/n laughed in amusement at how fast Steve was able to pick up the entire thing.
“Oh, come on. Come on, Jinkx, you can do it, water off a duck’s back…” Steve said in anticipation, and Y/n wasn’t even watching anymore. She was so focused on Steve who was leaning forward, elbows rested against his knees, which were bouncing up and down, and hands covering his mouth as he watched Jinkx lip sync against Detox as if it was a football game.
“If I was Jinkx, I’d be worried.”
“You know, I really don’t like this Roxxxy girl. She’s probably great when the cameras are off, but she has been so rude to Jinkx, and I don’t like it.” Steve said with a genuine irritated expression on his face, and Y/n just shook her head in amusement.
“So, who do you want to get eliminated?” Y/n asked Steve. She knew who, but she just wanted to add fuel to the fire that was Steve’s love for Jinkx Monsoon.
“Well, Detox, obviously! The challenge was Candy Couture, and the color choice isn’t giving me candy at all! At least with Jinkx, it’s candy cane themed, which literally has candy in the name. And she killed it on that lip sync! I’m sorry, but I think Detox should go home.” Steve said while raising her hands and leaning back into the couch.
“Jinkx Monsoon-” Steve shouted and cheered, clapping his fingers and getting on his feet while pointing and grinning at the TV.
“Shantay, you stay, baby!” He said enthusiastically and Y/n cheered in support while clapping her hands, though Steve seemed to care about it more than she did, and Y/n got pretty passionate about Drag Race so it was surprising to see.
“Oh, I’m so proud of her. She’s come so far.” Steve said in delight, hands pressed together against his mouth to contain his smile as he watched Jinkx be on the stage as part of the top three, waiting for the winner to be announced.
“And Roxxxy too! She’s admitting to her mistakes and apologizing for them, that’s really good.” Steve said and Y/n just couldn’t keep the smile off her face from seeing how invested Steve was with all of this.
“Oh, I really want to see your reaction to Bianca Del Rio.” Y/n said with a devious laugh that left Steve a bit concerned, but that quickly disappeared as RuPaul was about to announce the winner.
“The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, America’s next drag superstar is…”
“It’s her, it’s gotta be her. If it’s not, I don’t know what I’m going to do.” Steve said in a bit of a panic, and even Y/n was crossing her fingers in anticipation as if it would do anything to change the outcome of an episode that came out years ago.
“Jinkx Monsoon!” Steve and Y/n jumped up from their seats and cheered loudly, both turning to each other and grabbing each other’s arms, jumping up and down and holding onto each other as they cheered in wonder at the winner.
“Will you two please shut up!” The two stopped to see Sam standing by the hallway with a very irritated look on his face that accompanied the bags under his eyes.
“You two have been screaming about that show the entire day! She won, we get it!” Sam finished before turning around and going back to his room.
The two glanced at each other as they could hear the door to Sam’s room being slammed shut from where they stood. After a second, the two bursted out into excited screams again, but this time a bit more hushed in respect of Sam’s request.
Y/n and Steve have now developed a tradition where they watch Drag Race together whenever Steve has time off. There have been certain fights when one of them decides to watch without the other, but for the most part, they never do or watch anything drag related without the other present.
Their chats now mostly consist of who their favorite contestants are, discussing their favorite outfits throughout the seasons, and every now and again, Steve will let himself indulge in the gossip going on in the drag community based on what Y/n sees on Twitter.
It was odd for the other Avengers to see Steve be invested in something so unlikely as Drag Race of all things, but they were mostly happy to see that Steve has developed a new interest.
Then one day…
“Steve! Hurry up!” Y/n shouted from the living room.
It was time for another Drag Race marathon. This time, they were going to be binge watching Drag Race UK because they had already finished all of the main show, minus All Stars.
“I’m here, I’m here! Don’t start without me!” Steve said as he jogged over to the couch in his pajamas.
“Alright, season two!” Y/n cheered as she grabbed the remote, but before she could start the episode, Steve cut in and placed his hand on the remote.
“Actually, can we watch something different?” He asked sheepishly and Y/n let out a dramatic and affronted gasp.
“Are you telling me you don’t want to watch Drag Race?”
“Of course I do, but I was wondering if we could put the UK one on hold for one moment and watch something else to start.” Steve said and Y/n looked at him oddly, but she was intrigued enough to hand him the remote.
“Alright, what are we watching?” Y/n asked, leaning back against the couch as Steve navigated through Netflix.
“I know you said it wasn’t that interesting, but I was wondering if we could watch Celebrity Drag Race.” Steve said and Y/n raised her eyebrows in surprise.
“Okay, I’m officially curious.” Y/n said, causing Steve to chuckle and shake his head.
“You don’t want to start with season one?” Y/n asked when Steve went to the new season that had just recently come out. It actually came out just a few days ago.
“A wise woman once told me that you don’t need to watch Drag Race in order to enjoy it.” Steve said and Y/n laughed at the reminder.
“Alright, let’s do it then.”
“Welcome to RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race with this week’s queen supremes: Trinity The Tuck, Laganja Estranja, and Jinkx Monsoon!”
“Now I know why you want to watch this episode so much.” Y/n teased Steve who smiled embarrassedly. With all the seasons of Drag Race they watched, Steve’s favorite queen never changed. It was always going to be Jinkx Monsoon.
There were three competing celebrities, and for the first two, Y/n didn’t really recognize. She wasn’t all that caught up with celebrities and knew the bare minimum about pop culture. Drag Race was really the only mainstream thing she was into.
Then,
“I am a veteran who is pretty old school, so I’m not very up to date on all the recent trends.” Y/n’s eyes widened and she turned to Steve who was trying to keep in his smile.
“Shut the fuck up.” Y/n said in disbelief.
“Drag Race was one of the first things I really got interested in that’s very popular today.” The mysterious voice said and Y/n reached over to grab Steve’s shoulder.
“Steve, you did not.” Y/n said, and just as she said that, the panel started raising… Then it cut to the intro, making Y/n hold her breath in anticipation even more.
As the intro finished, the screen cut to the work room, and as the music started playing, none other than Steve Rogers walked in with a look of wonder on his face as his eyes scanned the room that he’s been seeing on TV for months now.
“Steve, holy shit!” Y/n shouted, grabbing Steve’s shoulder and pushing him back and forth as she watched Steve do his introduction.
“My name is Steve Rogers, some people know me as Captain America. I’ve watched every season of Drag Race, so I’m very excited to be here.” Steve, who was usually so stoic and calm, said in a giddy voice, eyes sparkling with excitement as it cut back to him in the work room.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!” Y/n exclaimed, slapping Steve’s shoulder over and over again, causing Steve to laugh while leaning away.
“It was supposed to be a surprise!” Steve said in amusement while Y/n let out a huff and crossed her arms.
“Yeah, well, I’m pretty damn surprised! When did this happen?”
Months ago, the Avengers found themselves in one of the many meeting rooms in the compound with Tony at the head of the table as he started their discussion.
“So with Stark Expo coming up, you all know the drill. Whole lot of events, which means it’s time for another round of press tours.” Most of them kept quiet to listen while the more dramatic members of their team groaned in complaint.
“Remember, the goal is to keep public opinion up, but I am of the belief that all publicity is good publicity, but don’t go too crazy. For the record, Pepper forced me to say that, because if I had free reign of my speech, I would say do whatever the hell you want as long as it gives us attention.” Tony said half-jokingly as he turned to the hologram being displayed before them.
“Tweedledee and Tweedledum are going to help with May’s F.E.A.S.T. expansion, Barnes and Noble are gonna do a bunch of educational videos and safety instructions for schools and such, Lean Green and Mean will be hosting classes for prisoners to aid in rehabilitation, and as always, our annual TV appearance. This year, the responsibility falls on Will Smith here.” Natasha was never included in the press tours because she preferred to be completely away from the public eye, but she still helped behind the scenes.
“Hell yeah, I finally get to be on TV!” Sam said with a laugh while clapping his hands together in excitement.
“You have four choices. Either host SNL, be a guest judge on America’s Got Talent, be a contestant on The Masked Singer, or be a contestant on RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race.” Steve’s attention peaked at the mention of Drag Race, and those who knew of Steve’s new fixation immediately noticed.
“Uh oh.” Natasha said with an amused smirk beginning to grow on her face.
“Here we go.” Bucky said while releasing a slow breath through his nose.
“Did you say Drag Race?” Steve said in a small voice, but the interest was enough to catch the attention of Tony who looked at him with a curious look. Steve tried to be subtle, but unfortunately for him, Tony was very clever.
“Rogers, is there something you’d like to share with the class?” Tony asked and Steve looked away to avoid any eye contact while pretending to casually look around the room.
“I was just wondering… can I do the TV appearance this year?” That last part came out very rushed as Steve cleared his throat mid-way through it, hand covering his mouth as he fully turned away from Tony.
“I’m sorry, could you say that again?” Tony said in the most neutral tone he could muster, knowing full well that he and the rest of the people in that room heard Steve loud and clear, but he really wanted to milk this one.
Steve looked at everyone who was staring at him in amusement and he ducked his head, hand still covering his mouth as he cleared his throat once more.
“...Can I do the TV appearance this year?”
“Steve Rogers, are you telling me that after years of saying you don’t want to make any TV appearances, you suddenly want to do one because you found out that being a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race was an option?” Tony said and Steve pursed his lips and stared Tony down directly in the eyes this time.
“Yes.” He said in the most sure tone Tony has ever heard him speak in the years of knowing him.
It was easy for Tony to tease him and make fun of him for this, but any embarrassment he could’ve poked at had completely disappeared once he had uttered that word. He wanted this, and he could see it in his eyes. This was the most dramatic thing Tony has ever seen Steve put his foot down on, and the fact that it was all for a Drag Race appearance was enough to entertain him for a lifetime.
“Sam, any objections?” Tony asked, turning to Sam who let out a sigh of disappointment.
“I guess he can have it.” He really played up his disappointment, rolling his eyes and slumping his back against his seat, but a grin quickly filled his face when he saw the thankful look Steve sent him.
“Alright then, Steve will do the drag show. I expect many, many pictures.”
After telling the story, Y/n was back in the present in absolute wonder as well as furiosity about the fact that she was only finding out about all this now.
So now, the two were watching Steve’s episode on Celebrity Drag Race, and throughout the entire thing, Y/n was pushing Steve and screaming her heart out in excitement.
“Now, Steve, since you won today’s mini challenge, you will get to pair each queen with each contestant.”
“Oh, gee, I wonder who you’re gonna pick.” Y/n said with an eye roll and Steve chuckled in response.
“I love each and every one of you… But I’m going to have to go with Jinkx Monsoon.” Steve said with the smile a child would have on Christmas morning.
“Look at you acting like you were actually choosing!” Y/n teased making Steve go a bit red in embarrassment.
“So, what made Captain America choose little old me as a mentor?” Jinkx asked Steve while applying his makeup.
“I’m actually a big fan of yours.” Steve admitted a bit sheepishly, causing Jinkx to let out a surprised gasp.
“Really?” She asked in disbelief.
“Yes, really! Season five was the very first season I watched, and early on, I knew I was gonna like you, and you’ve been my favorite Drag Race contestant since.” Y/n giggled and started poking Steve’s side.
“You got to meet your idol.” She said in a sing-songy tone.
“I’m guessing you never expected your favorite drag queen to be putting you in drag?” Jinkx said in a joking tone.
“No, but I am still very excited! This is such a new experience, but fun nonetheless.”
“Have you thought of a drag name?”
“I have, actually.” Steve said and Y/n let out a gasp.
“You thought of drag names without me!” Y/n said in another offended tone, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at Steve woh shushed her.
“Y/n Monsoon.” Y/n’s hand went up to cover her mouth and she turned to Steve, that hand going to her chest as she pouted at him.
“Oh, Monsoon!” Jinkx said in a delighted tone.
“Yeah, because technically, I’m your drag daughter, right?” Steve asked, unsure if he was correct with his terminology or not.
“You absolutely are now. Where did the name Y/n come from?”
“I’m not sure if you remember, but a long time ago, there used to be another member of The Avengers who, unfortunately, has passed now.” Steve said, making sure to follow whatever Nick approved when it came to what he could and couldn’t say to the cameras.
“Right! I remember being there for all those S.H.I.E.L.D. leaks. It was such a crazy shock to hear she was a HYDRA agent all along.” Y/n pursed her lips and looked down at the reminder. She wasn’t that bothered, but she very rarely heard it being brought up, so it was weird hearing Jinkx Monsoon of all people talk about it.
“Well, before Y/n died, she actually introduced me to the wonderful world of Drag Race, and every time I watch Drag Race, I’m reminded of her.” Y/n let out a snort at the lie.
“Oh, well that’s so sweet. I love a good homage.”
“Yeah. But I’m sure if she was here today and she saw this episode, she would be screaming at the tv screen and say how unfair it was that I got on the show without her.”
“You’re damn right I am, Steve Rogers!” Y/n shouted in Steve’s face, causing Steve to laugh.
When it came to the runway, Y/n let out another scream as she watched Steve strut down the catwalk with a full face of make-up, a big updo wig, a long dress with a leg slit, along with jewelry and four inch heels.
“Steve!” Was what Y/n kept screaming and repeating with each pose that Steve hit. Since Steve wasn’t used to walking in heels, he was a bit stiff with his movement, but he walked that runway with as much confidence as he could muster.
“The time has come… For you to lip sync… For your charity! Good luck, and don’t fuck it up.” As Ru finished speaking, the sound of “Run The World (Girls) by Beyoncé began playing over the speaker.
In an instant, Steve snapped his hand in the air with a hand on his hip as he began lip syncing the lyrics with absolute precision. With the other celebrities, Steve began strutting across the stage, performing dance moves that he must have practiced for hours on end because it was so perfect.
Y/n screeched as Steve flipped his hair over his shoulder, giving so much attitude as he was embodying all of Beyoncé in his system. While watching, Y/n went back to shaking Steve in excitement while the man watched himself on the screen with both proudness and disbelief
When it came to the rap, Steve squatted down and began lip syncing each word, throwing his hands around and patting his wig before standing up with ease and strutting across the runway once more.
“I can’t, I can’t.” Y/n said, getting up and raising her hands in the air as she walked around to get the shock off.
“Work, Steve!” Y/n shouted as Steve began voguing before flipping his hair around and bending over in his attempt of twerking. It wasn’t perfect, Pietro could do it much better, but that didn’t stop Y/n from clapping her hands and shaking her head.
As the song ended, Y/n let out another scream as Steve fell into a death drop on the last beat of the song.
“Shut the fuck up, oh my god- Ah! Steve, I can’t! I just- I’m in shock, I am baffled, I am speechless, I am-” Y/n stopped talking and stopped in front of Steve, getting on her knees and bowing down to Steve who laughed and quickly urged her to stand up in embarrassment.
In the end, Steve became the next Celebrity Drag Superstar, as he should. Y/n never let Steve forget how he dared to do all that and didn’t even invite her despite knowing she never could because she was dead, but still!
“On my birthday, I want you to perform in drag.” Y/n said one day in the middle of another one of their Drag Race binges.
“I’m not sure I can do that whole transformation on my own.” Steve said with a bit of a grimace as he was reminded of the struggle of having to tuck.
“Then call up your new bestie, Jinkx Monsoon, and make it happen!” Y/n said and Steve shook his head in amusement.
“Maybe.” He said, not opposed to getting back in drag for another time.
“Okay, so you lean your head back and push your leg out.” Steve said, looking behind him to where all the Avengers were standing, watching him carefully through the mirror of the gym.
“Then you bend your knee in, but don’t land on the knee, then twist your foot, and fall back. Let’s do it slowly first.” Steve said as he repeated the instructions Laganja told him to the team who all wanted to learn how to do a death drop after seeing Steve do it on Drag Race.
“Then you land, and-” Steve cut himself off by doing the death drop once more, and everyone started cheering and clapping in amazement.

Y/n let out a breath as she sat down on the couch and looked at the space around her. For once, it was quiet. Like, eerily quiet.
It was a Wednesday, and everyone was either out on a mission, or living their regular lives. After an incredibly hectic week, Y/n welcomed the silence. She felt like a single mom whose kids just attended school for the first time, and she finally had the house to herself after four years of having no time to rest.
She’s been wishing for it for months now, but now that it was here… What was she supposed to do now? The entire compound was clean, as in, the entire compound. Y/n got a bit bored. But there was nothing to do now, and Y/n couldn’t exactly hang out with anyone because, well, all her friends were out.
Maybe she could just stay in bed all day and watch trash reality tv. That’s what people did when they had time off, right? But not Y/n. Y/n was someone who was always moving and was always doing something at every second of the day. She’s tried the whole staying in bed all day, and it’s only fun when she’s in a depressive state.
As far as she was aware, she wasn’t having one of those depressive seasons, so staying in bed all day would only make her antsy instead of satisfied. She needed to do something, anything, literally whatever that would give her something to do and make her feel fulfilled at the same time.
The sound of her phone ringing in the quiet space made Y/n jump in surprise. She quickly got up and went over to the kitchen where she left her phone on the counter, and her heart leaped at the sight of Aunt May calling. Right! She had friends outside of the Avengers. Maybe she could have a girls day with May, and if they were free, she could call Pepper and Laura too.
“Hel-” Y/n’s greeting was cut off by May loudly sneezing on the other end. Okay, so hanging out with May was gonna have to wait until she was better.
“Y/n, hi.” May said, her voice incredibly scratchy, and it was clear that the woman had seen better days.
“Hi, May… Are you okay?” Y/n winced when her question was followed by another sneeze. At least her question was answered.’
“No, sorry, I came down with something really bad when I woke up.” May groaned and Y/n could hear from her end May grabbing a tissue and sniffling into it.
“Oh, do you need anything? Do you need me to keep you company?” Y/n asked in concern.
“No, no, I’ll be fine. But Peter’s Decathlon team is having a bake sale later at two, and I was supposed to bake a bunch of food for Peter.” May explained and a huge smile grew on Y/n’s face at the words.
“Do you need me to take over and make sure Peter has something for his bake sale?” Y/n asked eagerly, practically bouncing on her feet.
“If it’s not too much trouble. I know how busy you always are.” May said and Y/n looked around at the quiet, empty, and spotless room.
“Yeah, I had a whole schedule planned out for today, but just for you and Peter, I can hold it off. This seems more important.” Y/n said nonchalantly, and May let out a breath of relief.
“Thank you so much, Y/n. You don’t know how much help this gives me. I really owe you one.” May said, and just then, another sneeze came up and Y/n could practically feel that one in her own body.
“You don’t owe me anything, it’ll be my pleasure. I’ll get started right now, you go rest.” Y/n said and May thanked Y/n once more before hanging up the phone.
Thank god May got sick! Okay, that’s not something Y/n should be celebrating. Thank god she finally has something to do! Yeah, that was better.
Without wasting another second, Y/n went behind the counter and started going on a baking spree. She was pretty sure she blacked out for the entirety of it because it went by so fast.
“Peter!” Peter turned his head to see Mr. Harrington jogging over to him. Peter let out a whine, glancing over to Ned and MJ who gave him a winced look.
“Hey, Mr. Harrington.” Peter said with a sigh as the teacher stopped in front of him.
“What’s going on? Why is your guys’ table still empty? The bake sale is about to open in thirty minutes.” The teacher said as he gestured over to the table next to them which only had a single muffin sitting on top of it.
“Technically it’s not empty.” Peter said sheepishly.
“Peter, this was a muffin from the cafeteria.” Mr. Harrington said in a scolding tone.
“Look, I’m sorry Mr. Harrington. My Aunt May got sick this morning and she was supposed to be the one to make us the food for the sale.” Peter explained.
“So you guys just have nothing to bring? What about MJ and Ned? Don’t you guys have anything?” Mr. Harrington asked in a slightly panicked voice.
“None of my parents know how to bake, so unless you want everyone in school to get food poisoning, you’re getting nothing from me.” MJ spoke up and Mr. Harrington shook his head in disappointment.
“Ned?” He turned to the boy who reached into his bag and pulled out a brown paper bag.
“My lola made me some Pandesal, but I don’t think it’ll be enough.” Ned said, placing the bag on the table. Mr. Harrington looked into the bag to see about ten bread rolls, causing a sigh to leave his mouth as he lifted his glasses to grip the bridge of his nose.
“Okay, uh, how about this? You guys go over to Flash’s table and help him sell his cupcakes. I’m pretty sure he’s not gonna be able to do that all on his own, and you guys can just assist.” Mr. Harrington said, gesturing over to Flash’s table which was filled with Avengers themed cupcakes, but they were mostly Spider-Man designs.
“But Mr. Harrington-”
“No buts, Peter. You guys had two weeks to prepare for this bake sale. Now, get over to Flash’s table and help him set up.” Mr. Harrington said in a final tone before walking off.
“Is it too late to run and ditch the sale entirely?” Ned asked and Peter opened his mouth to respond, but was interrupted by the last person he wanted to see.
“Ayo, Parker! What, you couldn’t even afford to get boxed cake mix?” Peter rolled his eyes and turned around to see Flash by his table with a smug look on his face.
“You didn’t even bother making yours, Flash.” Ned spoke up.
“We’re selling these for like five bucks a piece. You’re pretty much losing money with all that.” MJ pointed out and Flash stammered a bit before clearing his throat and raising his chin.
“We didn’t buy these. Our private chef made it for us.” He said proudly.
“Yeah? How much do they get paid per hour?” MJ asked with a raised eyebrow and Flash stood there silent for a moment before turning to Betty.
“Hey, can we price these up a bit?” He asked Betty and MJ rolled her eyes.
“I can’t believe we’re gonna be forced to share a table with him for the next few hours.” Ned said in a dejected tone as he took his Pandesal bag and started eating.
“I’m really sorry, guys.” Peter apologized, causing MJ to place her hand on his arm.
“It’s alright. There’s nothing we could’ve done about it.” MJ said and Peter sighed.
Suddenly, the doors to the hall opened, and a familiar five foot two woman started marching through the halls with large boxes in her hands.
“Peter!” The woman’s voice boomed down the hall, causing everyone who was there to turn to her. Peter, MJ, and Ned’s eyes widened at the sight of Y/n getting closer as she set down the boxes on the table.
“Y/n, what are you doing here? I thought you weren’t allowed to be out in the open?” Peter asked in a hushed tone.
“Yeah, aren’t you supposed to be, you know, dead?” Ned asked and Y/n waved her hand dismissively.
“I haven’t publicly been an Avenger since 2014, I don’t think your generation was old enough to remember me by then.” Y/n said as she set the boxes down from the stack before opening them, revealing a whole array of baked goods.
“Holy shit!” Ned said in wonder.
In one box was a large batch of cupcakes, all beautifully designed with whatever math thing Y/n found online, in another was a box of brownies (labelled with and without nuts), and the other was a box of cookies all with more designs while the other were standard chocolate chip cookies.
“When did you make these?” Peter asked in wonder as he watched Y/n start to take them out and organize them on the table.
“Uh, around seven in the morning. Now, there’s more in the SUV outside. Get those, then help me set these up.” Y/n said, shooing them to the direction of where she came.
“Yes, ma’am!” Peter said excitedly as he, Ned, and MJ quickly ran outside.
“Jesus, Y/n, how much did you make?” Peter asked as they all set down around six more boxes of baked goods.
“Well, there’s the cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies, cream puffs, donuts, cinnamon rolls, cheesecakes, and croissants. So, nine batches.” Y/n answered a bit out of breath, but she seemed really energetic for someone who just spent the entire day baking a bunch of baked goods.
“Croissants? Don’t those take, like, two days to make?” MJ asked in confused wonder as they placed the baked goods on the towers Y/n just bought from Amazon earlier that day.
“I always have homemade puff pastry on hand.” Y/n explained.
“Peter.” Peter and his friends turned to Mr. Harrington who was walking to their table with a stunned look on their face. It was only now that they noticed that the rest of their Decathlon teammates were staring at their table.
“Oh, hey Mr. Harrington.” Peter said awkwardly.
“Where did all this come from? I thought you guys didn’t have anything.” Mr. Harrington said. It was then that he noticed the new woman standing next to them.
“Um, Mr. Harrington, this is Y/n. She’s my, um…” Peter said, only now realizing that he didn’t really know how to call Y/n.
“A family friend. Hi, it’s nice to meet you.” Y/n stepped in, holding out her hand to the man who shook it.
“Did you make all this yourself? That’s really impressive.” Mr. Harrington said in wonder, and Y/n simply smiled.
“I feed seven, sometimes nine, people with really big appetites on a daily basis. This was nothing.”
“Well, I guess you three don’t need to work on Flash’s booth anymore. Actually, I think you three are gonna need more help than him now.” Mr. Harrington said.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Harrington. We got it.” Peter said and Mr. Harrington sent them all a nod before going to help everyone else.
“Parker, I thought you were poor, how can you afford a maid?” Peter held back a groan at the sound of footsteps approaching him from behind.
“What did you just say to him?” Y/n asked with a tilt of her head as she stepped up to the boy. Flash looked at her in shock before a slightly awkward laugh left his mouth, fully facing the woman and looking down at her from where she stood.
“I thought being a maid was your aunt’s job. What, are they paying you two dollars an hour or something?” Flash asked and Y/n looked at the boy with a judging gaze, trying to determine if he was truly being serious or not.
“Flash, just leave us alone.” Peter said in a tired tone. Flash ignored his words and turned to their table, grabbing one of the cupcakes and examining it before taking a bite.
He chewed for a moment before spitting it out on the ground. Flash then turned back to Peter with a smirk before pushing the cupcake into his chest, the frosting getting all over his shirt.
“Tastes cheap. That’s to be expected from you though.” Flash said as a laugh left his mouth. He turned around and walked away, purposely bumping into their table and causing one of the pies to fall and splatter on the ground.
“W-We’re gonna clean that up.” Ned said nervously as he and MJ eyed Y/n with slight fear of her reaction. Before she could get angry, they quickly went to fix on the pie.
Peter sighed before fearfully turning to Y/n. He had never seen the woman angry before. Sure, he’s seen him upset and incredibly disappointed, but never angry. This was a woman who was always said to be one of the most dangerous people on earth. Peter didn’t want to see her bad side even if it wasn’t directed at him.
But instead of eyes blazing with fury and a clench jaw, Peter was met with an extremely concerned look. Somehow, that was worse than Y/n being mad.
“Come on, kid. Let’s get your shirt cleaned.” Y/n said in a soft tone, gently grabbing Peter’s arm and leading him away. Peter was about to protest, but the look Y/n gave him told him that there wasn’t going to be any room for that.
Peter led Y/n to the co-ed bathroom of their school, and Y/n helped wash off the frosting on Peter’s shirt in the sink. After they were done, Peter started patting dry the wet spot on his shirt with a few paper towels, glancing up every now and again to Y/n who remained silent the entire time.
“Why didn’t you tell any of us you were getting bullied, Peter?” Y/n asked and Peter sighed, throwing the paper towels in the sink.
“It really isn’t a big deal.” Peter said, crossing his arms and looking at the ground.
“Peter, yes it is.”
“No, it’s not. Flash is just one guy, I’ve dealt with worse.” Peter said and Y/n stepped forward, which made Peter look at her.
“That’s the exact point, Peter. You’re already going through so much more than any kid should, you shouldn’t have to deal with a bully on top of all of that.” Y/n said and Peter shook his head.
“It’s not like I can do anything about it.” Peter said and Y/n frowned in confusion.
“Why not?”
“Because that’s just gonna make it worse. I don’t need any more unnecessary attention on me. People thinking I have a Stark Industries internship already put enough eyes on me, I don’t need anymore.” Peter admitted, and Y/n immediately understood what the boy meant.
“They won’t find out about who you are just by standing up for yourself.” Y/n said.
“But what if they do!” Peter exclaimed in frustration with a hint of fear in his tone.
“I’m not willing to take that chance. There’s just too much on the line if I do. If enduring stupid comments from Flash is what it takes to keep the people I care about safe, then fine. I really don’t care.” Peter said honestly and Y/n stared at him for a moment before nodding her head.
“Alright.” Y/n said, and Peter looked at her with a shocked expression, not expecting her to agree so easily.
“Really?” He asked in disbelief.
“Yes. If you say you don’t care, and if you say you can handle it, then fine.” Y/n said and Peter let out a thankful sigh before wrapping her arms around Y/n. The woman sighed as she wrapped her arms around the boy as well.
“Thank you for understanding.” Peter said as he pulled away, and Y/n gave the boy a kind smile.
The bell ringing caught their attention.
“The bake sale’s gonna start. I have to get back. Thank you so much again for baking all of that for us, I really appreciate it.” Peter said and Y/n nodded.
“Any time, Peter. Literally, if you ever need any help, don’t hesitate to contact any of us.” Y/n said and Peter nodded with a thankful smile. He turned to leave, but stopped in his tracks and turned back to Y/n with a pleading look on his face.
“Please don’t tell anybody else. I don’t want anyone else worrying about it. I just want to get this day over with and make sure the team gets the funding it needs.” Peter said and Y/n nodded in response.
“Okay. I won’t tell anyone.” Y/n said and Peter let out a breath of relief, walking up and giving Y/n one more brief hug.
“You’re the best, Y/n.” Peter said with a huge grin before turning around and walking out of the bathroom. Y/n stood there for a moment, watching as Peter walked away before the door to the bathroom shut and blocked him from her view.
Y/n reached into her pocket and took out her phone, going over to her contacts and calling a certain number.
“Hey, Tony. Could you do me a favor?”
“Peter, these are so good, I can’t believe you know someone who can bake like this!” Betty said as she ate one of the croissants from their table.
“Thanks, but those are supposed to be for people outside of the team.” Peter said as he looked at everyone walking past the bake sale without buying anything.
“How much have we made so far?” Mr. Harrington said in concern as everyone counted the amount of their money in their jars.
“And that brings us to a total of…” Mr. Harrington said after everyone called out their amount.
“Thirty-five dollars and fifty-two cents.” MJ called out, making Ned furrow his eyebrows in confusion.
“Where’d the fifty-two cents come from?” He asked.
“Coach Wilson left a very generous tip.” MJ answered, and Mr. Harrington let out a sigh.
“Alright, let’s stay optimistic.” He said after shaking his head and pulling himself together.
“Our goal is two hundred dollars, and we’re already seventeen percent done. We still have about,” Mr. Harrington lifted his arm and pulled his sleeve back to check his watch, “An hour and thirty minutes left. Plenty of time for us to make it, we’ll be fine.” It didn’t seem like he believed the words himself, so it was only natural that the rest of them didn’t either.
“Flash, you’re made of money, right? Why don’t you just cover our travel fees?” Abe asked, putting all the attention on Flash as the rest of the team spoke up in agreement.
“W-Well, I can’t just pay for all of it. School rules state that members of a club can’t pay for their funding themselves.” Flash said as an excuse, looking to Mr. Harrington for support, and the man sadly nodded in confirmation.
“But we’re literally getting the money for our funding from other students of the school through this bake sale, how is it any different?” MJ asked in confusion, but her question was left unanswered.
“Instead of looking at me, why don’t you guys look at Parker. Don’t you have some fancy internship with Tony Stark or something? Why don’t you pay for our trip, you probably get paid big there.” Flash said, pointing to Peter who shrunk in his seat at the eyes that shifted onto him.
“It’s an internship. I don’t get paid.” Peter answered in a mumble.
“Right, how could I forget, you’re impoverished.” Flash said with a laugh, but no one else did.
“Why don’t you mind your own business, Flash.” Ned retorted, though Flash was unfazed.
“I’m telling you guys, this whole time, he’s just been lying about that stupid internship. I bet he just uses it as an excuse to get his grades up.”
“Peter literally contributes to the team more than you do, you’re practically a freeloader.” MJ said with a roll of her eyes, causing Flash to clench his jaw and glare at the three friends.
“You gonna let your little girlfriend protect you, huh, Parker? Can’t even fight your own battles?” Flash irked, but Peter just looked away.
“I’m not even doing anything, man.” Peter said weakly, and Flash scoffed at the response.
“Yeah, that’s right. Hide behind your friends and that Stark internship you’re so proud of.” Peter clenched his fists under the table and tried his best to calm down. He couldn’t let Flash get to him. Just another hour, and he could be done with all of it and go.
Flash opened his mouth to taunt Peter once more when the sounds of gasps and people rushing to one part of the hallway interrupted him. The Decathlon team turned their heads to the sound of the commotion and saw a bunch of their classmates crowding around one person as they slowly started making their way towards them.
“What the hell is going on?” Flash muttered as he stood up on his chair to try and see above the crowd. He seemed to succeed because a gasp left his lips as he fell back down to his chair.
“What’s this I hear about a bake sale?” Peter’s eyes widened at the sound of a very familiar voice. He shot up from his chair and all of a sudden, the crowd went quiet as they stepped aside and made way for one Tony Stark who approached the Decathlon Bake Sale, specifically Peter’s table.
Tony stopped and looked at all the baked goods laid out in front of him. Yeah, that was definitely Y/n’s baking. He could recognize that from a mile away. He looked back up to Peter who had a look of panic in his eyes, and Tony took off his sunglasses and looked at Peter with an unimpressed look.
“Why didn’t you tell me your little mathletes team didn’t have enough funding.” Tony asked and Peter stammered.
“It’s a Decath— Mr. Stark, what are you doing here?” Peter asked in confusion, though a voice in the back of his head was already telling him the answer to that question.
“I heard you needed help with your little team, and I’m here to do just that.” Tony said as he reached into his pocket and took out his wallet.
“How much do you guys need? Huh? Here, have this, it should be enough.” Tony said as he pulled out ten, hundred dollar bills and placed it into Peter’s hands, causing the boy’s eyes to widen.
“M-Mr. Stark, I can’t accept this!” Peter exclaimed.
“What? Is that not enough? Fine.” Tony said as he started taking out more, but Peter was quick to stop him.
“No, no, no, no! That’s way too much! Also, why are you just carrying a thousand dollars in your wallet, that’s really unsafe!” Peter said as he handed the money back to Tony.
“I don’t understand. Your team needs the money, and I’m giving it, what’s the issue?” Tony asked, knowing full well what the issue was.
“Mr. Stark, this is a bake sale! If you just give us the money, all the food we made will go to waste.” Peter explained, occasionally glancing at the crowd that was staring at them in awe.
“Then I’ll buy your entire stock out, done.” Tony said, like it was no big deal.
“Mr. Stark, no.” Peter said in the most stern voice he could muster, which wasn’t actually all that stern, but it got the point across anyway.
Tony raised an eyebrow at Peter as he glanced at the tables of baked goods around him, before looking back at all the people that had gathered around them.
“You want to give your team its funding fair and square?” Tony asked and Peter shifted at the question, not sure what the man was trying to get at.
“Yeah, pretty much.” There was a collective sigh of disappointment among the Decathlon team after hearing that answer.
Tony reached back into his wallet, and Peter was about to stop him until he saw Tony only pull out five dollars. Tony placed it on the table and took one of the donuts and took a bite before turning to the crowd.
“Anybody who buys twenty dollars worth of food gets a picture.” Tony announced, and there was a pause. Then everyone started rushing at the tables to buy a bunch of baked goods for a picture, overwhelming the Decathlon team, but they were quick to move because they were finally getting their funding.
Peter looked around distraught. There was already a line of people getting a photo with Tony after showing the food they bought, and the jars were quickly filling up with more money than they needed, yet there was plenty more food to spare.
“I-I need a second.” Peter said to MJ and Ned who just nodded in response because they were too busy dealing with the demanding line of customers.
He quickly pushed his way through the crowd and ran until he was outside. Peter took his phone out and sat on the stairs, dialing a familiar number, his leg bouncing up and down frantically as he waited for the call to be received.
“Hey, Peter! I’m at your apartment, I gave Aunt May some soup.” Y/n said happily through the phone, and a faint ‘Hi, sweetie!’ from Aunt May was heard in the background, followed by a loud sneeze.
“Y/n, I told you not to tell anyone.” Peter said in an irritated voice.
“I didn’t tell anyone about your… You know. I told you I wouldn’t.” Y/n said in a hushed tone, probably to keep May from overhearing.
“Then why is Mr. Stark here? He came here out of nowhere and offered to pay for my team’s entire funding. Why else would he do that?” Peter said and a light groan was heard on the other line.
“Of course he did.” Y/n mumbled.
“Peter, I only told Tony that you had a bake sale and that he should come by to help you.” Y/n explained.
“Why would you tell him that?” Peter asked in confusion.
“Because you told me you just wanted to get the day over with and get your team its funding.” Y/n answered.
“How does Mr. Stark being here help that?”
“He is literally Iron Man, and your school is filled with a bunch of math and science nerds, so they probably love him as Tony Stark too. If anybody was going to speed the bake sale up, it was going to be him.” Peter got up from the stairs and looked through the window of the doors to see everyone walking down the halls holding some sort of baked good in their hands.
“We would’ve been fine on our own.” Peter mumbled.
“Peter, I’m okay with letting you deal with your issue on your own, but if I know a way to make it even a bit easier for you, then I’m gonna do that. I’m sure that if anyone else on the team found out, they’d feel the same.” Y/n said, and Peter sighed in response.
“We trust you to solve your own problems, but you can’t stop us from caring about you. That part will always be non-negotiable. Now, just enjoy your day and be happy that your team got the funding they needed.” Peter wasn’t able to say anything else, because Y/n had already hung up the call before he could.
Peter looked down at his phone as Y/n’s words rang in his head. He put his phone back into his pocket and walked back into the school. As he was approaching the bake sale, he could see that the other Decathlon members were gushing over Tony and thanking him for helping him meet their goal.
“Oh, kid, come here. Tony said when he caught sight of Peter, turning back to the table full of the baked goods that Y/n made.
“Mr. Stark, I-” Peter was interrupted when Tony shoved a donut into his mouth. Peter was about to take it out when the taste melted on his tongue, eyes widening as he grabbed it and bit down.
“Good, right?” Tony asked and Peter nodded in agreement as he continued to eat the donut.
“Now come on, your aunt wanted pictures.” Tony said as he fished his phone out of the pocket of his jacket.
“Hey, you, come over here and take a photo of us.” He said to Ned who stared at him with a gaping mouth in wonder.
“Come on, kid, we don’t got all day.” Tony said when Ned continued to stand there, effectively snapping Ned out of his trance.
“Y-Yes sir!” He said eagerly as he shakily took Tony’s phone from him.
“And dear god, do not drop it.” Tony said when he saw how shaky Ned’s hands were. He wrapped his left arm around Peter’s shoulder and pulled him in, raising a peace sign up with his right hand once Ned pointed the phone at them.
“Hey, Mr. Stark?” Peter asked, turning to the man standing beside him.
“Kid, the point of a picture is to look at the camera when it’s being taken.” Tony said, taking his left hand and placing it on the back of Peter’s head to turn it back to Ned who was taking different shots because they all kept getting blurry from how shaky he was.
“Mr. Stark, did you really come here just to help us get funding?” Peter asked Tony while keeping his eyes on the camera.
“That and I’ve been bugging Y/n about making donuts but she never does, but of course when you need them, she does it without question. And she claims she doesn’t play favorites.” Tony answered with an eyeroll.
“Besides, I was in a really boring meeting, and I was ready to pull off this guy’s toupe just to entertain myself when Y/n called. So, it was either lose really important investors or spend some time with the kid and good food. Really difficult choice, took me hours to think it through.” Really, Y/n just mentioned Peter, and Tony was already out the door.
Peter looked back up to Tony, causing the man to turn his head back to the camera again without even giving him a glance. The more Peter spent time with Tony, the more he was able to see through the wall of sarcasm Tony always had up. There was a lot he didn’t know, but after what Y/n told him, what he does know is that they really do care about him.
A smile slowly made its way onto Peter’s face and he looked up to the camera, holding the donut up as well as he finally let himself enjoy the fact that their team got their funding.

“Alright, head count!” Y/n called out, clapping her hands as she looked at all the kids sitting on the couch in front of her.
“Maguna!” Y/n said.
“Here!” The little girl shouted as she stood as she ran up to Y/n who furrowed her eyebrows, placing her hand above them as she scanned the room.
“Where is that little rascal?” Y/n asked, causing the little girl to giggle and hug her legs.
“Y/n, I’m right here!” Morgan said, and Y/n hummed in thought, continuing to look through the room before shrugging.
“Guess she’s not here. Sorry guys, we’re going to have to start without Morgan.” Y/n said, placing her hands on her hips as she faced the amused look of the other kids.
“Y/n!” Morgan whined and Y/n let out a gasp as she looked down, as if she was surprised to see Morgan.
“There you are! Here I thought you disappeared on me!” Y/n said as she picked up Morgan and gently tossed her up before wrapping her in a tight hug.
“Get back over on that couch now.” Y/n said, giving the girl a kiss on the side of her head as she put her back on the floor.
“Next! Barton kids one, two, and three.” Y/n said and the three gave her confused looks.
“Y/n, you know our names.” Lila said.
“That’s absolutely correct, number two. But right now, there’s just so much of you that I’m gonna start using codenames.” Y/n said, causing Nathaniel to giggle.
“But you called Morgan by her name.” Cooper pointed out with furrowed eyebrows of confusion.
“Alright, next!” Y/n said with a clap of her hands, ignoring Cooper’s comment completely.
“Peter and Peter’s friends.” Y/n said, turning to Peter, Ned and MJ.
“Really appreciate it, Y/n.” MJ said with a brief smile, and Y/n just waved her hand dismissively.
“Present!” Ned exclaimed with the raise of his hand with Peter who did the same.
“Love the enthusiasm, guys!” Y/n said and the two boys looked proud of themselves for gaining the praise.
“Mini Clint and Mini Natasha.” Y/n said, turning to Kate and Yelena who looked incredibly confused.
“I take full offense to that.” Yelena said.
“Why are we here? We’re older than everyone here, I don’t think we need to babysat.” Kate said and Y/n clicked her tongue at the two, crossing her arms and staring at them with a pointed look.
“People who don’t need to be babysat don’t destroy clock towers for a bet. This is literally the second time now, Kate. You think you’d learn after the first.” Y/n said and Kate let out a huff, slumping back into the couch in defeat.
“That’s her fault, I don’t know why I’m being punished for her actions.” Yelena said with a look of disbelief.
“You were the one who got her drunk and made her do it, don’t act like you’re not complicit in all of it.” Y/n said and Yelena looked at her confused, before her eyebrows raised once it all came back to her.
“Oh.” Yelena said with a snort, shaking her head in amusement, “Yeah, that makes sense.” Y/n sighed at the words.
“Okay, anyway. Now that we’re all here, what do you guys want to do to pass the time? We have board games, movies, literally anything you want, but we can’t go out.”
“Why can’t we go out?” MJ asked in confusion with furrowed eyebrows.
“There’s nine of you, and two of you aren’t even at two digits yet, somebody is bound to get lost. If you want to go out, fine, but I’m whipping out the child leashes if we do.” Y/n explained and MJ shrugged in response, having nothing else to say to Y/n’s answer.
“Oh, oh, tell us about your time as an Avenger!” Ned said with a raised hand again.
“Y/n you were an Avenger?!” Morgan exclaimed excitedly and Y/n smiled at the little girl.
“Yes, I was. But my life now is way more fun than it was when I was a superhero.” Y/n said as she sat down on the arm chairs.
“Oh, yes. Who cares about saving the world and fighting crime when you can be a ma-”
“Finish that sentence, I dare you.” Y/n said half-jokingly to Yelena who raised her arms in defense, but didn’t say anything more.
“I actually don’t know anything about how you were before you became the housekeeper. I wanna hear stuff too.” Kate said and Y/n let out a sigh.
“You know, the current Y/n is super fun too. You know what’s more interesting than taking down bad guys and stopping worldly threats? Knowing which cleaning products to use on specific surfaces.” Y/n said and everyone glanced at each other awkwardly.
“Yeah. I’m telling you, one day, you’re gonna wish you asked me about that when you accidentally use tile cleaner to clean your mirror and end up making it look worse than it originally did.”
“I actually did do that once.” Kate mumbled and Yelena patted her knee in a comforting way while sending Peter and his friends a grimace.
“Y/n, please tell us about your time as a superhero, please!” Nathaniel said excitedly.
“We always ask dad about what you guys were like as agents and Avengers, but he never tells us anything.” Lila said and Y/n’s eyebrows raised at the words.
“Oh do you, now?” Y/n asked with a grin.
“There she goes.” Yelena said with an eyeroll.
“Yeah, but he always tells us about how you were one of the coolest Avengers out of everyone on the team.” Cooper said and Y/n let out a satisfied breath.
“Buddy, I’m gonna need you to say that on camera later, because I am never letting your old man forget that one.” Y/n said with a laugh.
“My mood is lifted. Fine, I’ll tell you guys some stories. What do you want to know?” Y/n asked, leaning back against the arm chair comfortably.
“If I didn’t know better, I would’ve thought she was related to Tony Stark.” MJ said, but was ignored by Y/n who pretended like she didn’t hear that.
“How did the Avengers find out you were actually a HYDRA agent?” Cooper asked and Y/n let out a slow breath through her nose.
“Right, that was a thing that happened.” Y/n deflected, and everyone stared at her expectantly.
“Are you gonna tell us what happened?” Peter asked and Y/n stared at the ground silently in thought. They all waited, a bit concerned, but more intrigued now since Y/n was rarely silent.
Y/n would talk about her old missions as an agent every now and again to entertain them when they asked, but anything involving the Avengers or the team was typically off limits to her. It was a wonder that Cooper was brave enough to bring it up, but then again, Cooper didn’t catch on to a lot of things.
“You don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to.” Peter added. They all wanted to hear more about Y/n since she was always so kind to them, but it was also incredibly odd for them to see her so closed off.
Y/n letting out a sigh caught everyone’s attention and they all stared at Y/n oddly, waiting to see what she would say next.
“...Yeah, sure. We can talk about it.”
-
“Source came from here, everyone spread out, keep your eyes open and alert immediately if you catch sight of them.” Rumlow said as he and the rest of the HYDRA agents entered the mall in search for Steve Rogers and the missing drive.
“Ooh, look at you being such a leader.” Y/n said and Rumlow rolled his eyes, but didn’t comment as he walked off to start searching.
“Alright, no fun then.” Y/n said with a huff as she started walking as well.
Things were getting difficult. Rumlow and a few other agents had their covers blown, Nick got too close and almost got himself killed, but thanks to her and Hill, he was fine; Steve was slowly unraveling everything, and with the added threat of Natasha now, things just weren’t good.
It had gotten wrong all too fast, and Y/n didn’t know how she felt about it. On one hand, this was just another mission that was going sideways, nothing she hadn’t experienced before. On the other hand, she was on the brink of having her secrets revealed, and it usually wouldn’t be a problem.
But all her mind could focus on now was how the team would react. It was a silly thing to worry about that, Y/n knew that. Then her mind would think about her true cover being revealed, with the whole team finding out that this whole time, she wasn’t who she said she was, and she wasn’t actually their friend.
Was she? They were barely even acquaintances, probably co-workers at best. Y/n remembers being on that aircraft where everyone was fighting and thinking to herself how easy it would’ve been to take everyone out, steal the sceptre, and get things over with.
Ever since she was offered a position for the Avengers initiative, the only thing Y/n wanted to do was roll her eyes whenever she was reminded that she had to actually work with those meatheads. Then the Chitauri invaded New York and they had no choice but to work together, and in the moment where they were all finally united to help save the world…
It felt better than completing any mission Y/n ever had before.
She remembers getting Shawarma afterwards with them and sitting in silence in that run down shop that had really dry pita bread, and thinking that it wasn’t so bad despite everything that had happened moments ago.
She remembers being invited to Tony’s birthday party and Tony asking her to stay after everyone left. She remembers sharing a drink with him and having a genuine conversation with him about where they saw the team going in the future.
She remembers being assigned under Clint and having him mentor her when she first joined S.H.I.E.L.D, and how in each training session, she kept thinking about how stupid it was for her to hold back just so she wouldn’t blow her cover. Then she remembers Clint managing to genuinely pin her down and how he always made sure she always tended to her injuries properly.
She remembers all the missions with Natasha spent joking around because Natasha always hated it when the air was too thick and serious, how she’d make every mission entertaining in some way despite their lives being on the line. How Natasha was the first person to ever make Y/n laugh.
She remembers being assigned to escort Bruce on a three month mission in search of something regarding Bruce’s research that Y/n never bothered learning about. How Bruce almost turned Hulk and how she had to be the one to calm him down, then spending the next week in lockdown while trying to teach him how to control it again. How he taught her all the basic things about Science when he found out Y/n never went to school.
She remembers the first time she sparred with Steve, and how that ended up stemming into a routine of exercising with each other. All the little conversations they had about what they liked about the world and all the new things they were finding out. How Steve shared every new thing he learned with Y/n after she told him that she never got the chance to explore the world cause she’s been in the business since she was a kid.
Were they friends? Y/n didn’t know what it was like to have friends, but she also never interacted with anyone in the way she interacted with any of them. It wasn’t like people weren’t allowed to be friends with each other in HYDRA, but nobody really talked to Y/n because she was the untouchable.
But when she was with the Avengers, it didn’t feel like that. When they looked at her, they didn’t see a perfect soldier who was a killing machine that could take down anyone that was in her way. They looked at her and they saw Y/n, which was something Y/n didn’t know was possible.
She wondered how they would look at her once they found out who she actually was. Would they look at her the same way once they found out that the Y/n they knew wasn’t anything like who Y/n actually was? Y/n didn’t even know what that meant. The name Y/n didn’t even mean much to her, because it wasn’t even her real name.
Before, she was just a number, and that was all she knew. Then, she had to create a fake identity in order to pose as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and she chose Y/n because she had seen it on a billboard one time on a mission. Y/n wasn’t real, nothing about who Y/n was, was real. Then she met the Avengers, and all of a sudden, the name Y/n actually meant something.
Suddenly, Y/n was an actual person with a life and a personality. When that happened, Y/n didn’t know. All she knew was that when the Avengers looked at her, they saw someone Y/n didn’t know existed, and she didn’t know if she actually had the capacity to be the person they saw.
“Give me a floor run down.” Y/n heard in her earpiece, snapping her out of her thoughts. Right, she was on a mission.
Her eyes scanned the entirety of the second floor and almost instantly, they landed on a pair casually walking around with their heads ever so slightly tilted down. Y/n rolled her eyes at the sight. A hoodie, fake glasses, and a cap. Did they really think that was going to hide them?
“Clear on two.” Y/n lied. The last thing they needed was a shoot out in the middle of the mall because those two didn’t know how to wear a proper disguise.
Y/n watched as the two got on an escalator that was taking them to the ground floor. They were going to make their exit. Her eyes flitted over to the escalator making its way up, and her eyes landed on Rumlow who was about to pass right by Steve and Natasha.
Y/n felt her heart pumping in her chest and her hands started to shake. This was a mission, and Y/n always completed her missions. The only time Y/n wasn’t able to complete a mission was if someone in a higher position than her called for a retreat, but she always managed to get the job done no matter what.
The mission objective was to find the drive filled with all of HYDRA's secrets, take out Steve Rogers, and leave. It was a one and done deal, Y/n has been through so much worse. So why was it so hard for her to finish this one?
“Rumlow, on your right.” Y/n suddenly spoke in her comms without thinking, and Rumlow’s head swerved to the right with full attention, like a dog catching sight of a squirrel.
Y/n looked back down to Steve and Nat to see that Nat had pulled Steve down for a kiss and Y/n raised her eyebrows in amusement at the sight. Turns out they didn’t need help after all. Public displays of affection make people very uncomfortable, Y/n remembers Natasha telling her the same thing when they went undercover one time.
“What the hell is on my right, I don’t see anything.” Rumlow asked in frustration in his earpiece, completely missing Steve and Natasha who went right past him.
“I meant I was on your right, I was just letting you know my position.” Y/n lied easily as she watched Steve and Natasha make a quick and silent exit out of the mall, the corners of her lips quirking up ever so slightly.
“Why would I need to know that?” Rumlow asked in confusion, and Y/n didn’t bother elaborating after.
Days later, Y/n found herself wearing S.T.R.I.K.E. team gear with Maria sitting right next to her in the car with Steve, Natasha, and Sam who were currently none the wiser that they were among allies. They had just been apprehended by HYDRA after the entire spectacle on the highway and street, and she and Hill were set to help them escape.
Rumlow didn’t know she was there. She was supposed to be part of apprehending them, but Y/n told him that he was assigned to safeguard Pierce who was allegedly being targeted by an outside source working alongside Steve on their hunt to find the truth. It wasn’t the first time Y/n was sent to be a person of importance’s bodyguard, so he didn’t suspect a thing.
In reality, Maria had seeked her out and told her that it was time to step in and help Steve and Natasha on their mission and let them in on what was going on. Only three people knew about Nick being alive: Hill, the doctor, and Y/n. Y/n was the one who made sure that Nick didn’t die on the way to the hospital and was the one who helped Maria transport him to the safehouse where he was currently being held.
“It was him. He looked right at me, and he didn’t even know me.” And that too. There were just secrets on top of secrets, and it seemed like with each second that passed by, Y/n’s lists of lies kept piling up. She knew about Bucky, of course she did. God, Steve was going to hate her. And Tony too, most likely. Hell, all of them were going to hate her.
It shouldn’t bother her, but it did.
“We need to get a doctor here. If we don’t put pressure on that wound, she’s gonna bleed out here in the truck-” Y/n let out a sigh when Maria pulled out an electric baton, surprising the three for a second, before taking out the agent who was sitting to her right.
“So impatient.” Y/n said as the two of them took off their helmets, not paying any mind to the look of shock and confusion on the three’s faces.
“I couldn’t hold out any longer. That thing was squeezing my brain.” Maria said and Y/n shook her head in amusement.
“You start cutting, I’ll unlock them.” Y/n said as she pulled out the device that would unlock their restraints.
“Hey, stranger.” Natasha said with a smirk to Y/n who chuckled as she took off her restraints.
“Hello to you too. You look like shit.”
“You gave me this mission, and this is how it ends. S.H.I.E.L.D’s been compromised, you said so yourself. HYDRA grew right under your nose, and nobody noticed..” Y/n kept her expression cool, ignoring the way her chest fell lower to her stomach as Steve spoke.
They had made it to the safehouse where Nick was being held, and he and Maria had just finished briefing them on how they were going to infiltrate the Triskelion and stop those helicarriers from going out and killing a whole bunch of people.
The entire time, Y/n stayed silent. It didn’t feel right to say anything knowing what she knew. Everybody who was in that room were people Nick trusted, and she was one of them, yet she’s been lying this entire time. She was the very enemy that they were planning to go up against, yet she was fooling them all by staying under the guise of a trusted ally.
Lying was a part of the job, it was one of Y/n’s specialties. Y/n’s been lying to everyone the moment she became a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Just because the stakes were higher now, didn’t make it any different.
Except the urge to throw up definitely made it clear to Y/n that everything was different now. Why was she here? She should be alerting HYDRA of their whereabouts right now, she should’ve told them that Nick Fury wasn’t dead from the beginning, she should’ve turned Steve and Natasha in the moment she saw them at the mall.
But Y/n knew. She was compromised as well. The Avengers had gotten her to care about them, and she could no longer bring herself to carry through with the mission she’s been performing since her birth. She knew what she wanted to do, but Y/n didn’t know if she had the balls to do it.
Taking down whoever was in her way was the easy part; the lying, not so much anymore.
Y/n found herself roaming the halls of the Triskelion, looking down each corner keeping an eye out to see if any HYDRA or S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was making their way towards where Maria was positioned.. They were finally infiltrating, things were about to go down, and Y/n was yet to decide which side she was on.
On her left earpiece was Rumlow and all the other HYDRA agents shouting orders to each other as word just got around that Steve Rogers was sighted in the building. On her right earpiece was Maria and Sam confirming their locations and making sure that the plan was going on as intended.
“024!” Y/n turned her eyes to see a few familiar HYDRA agents making their way towards her. They all stopped in front of her and did the salute, which Y/n wanted to roll her eyes out, but she held the urge and simply waved her hand to dismiss them.
“Report your findings.” Y/n spoke like second nature.
“Agent Hill has taken over the post responsible for looking over the helicarrier hangars. We suspect she’s trying to shut them down with a third party assisting her on the helicarriers themselves.” Always one step ahead, but Y/n was a mile further than everyone else.
“The post is left unguarded, we should head there now to stop her from getting any further.” The agent spoke and Y/n clenched her jaw as her thoughts battled each other in her mind.
“Take me to her.” Y/n spoke, her voice strained, but it was left unnoticed by the agents who nodded and did as she asked.
“Attention all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, this is Steve Rogers.” Y/n stopped in her tracks as she heard Steve’s voice go over the intercoms. The agents stopped as well, turning to her with a look of confusion, and Y/n shook her head and continued walking.
“You've heard a lot about me over the last few days. Some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I think it's time you know the truth. S.H.I.E.L.D. is not what we thought it was. It's been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader. The S.T.R.I.K.E. and Insight crew are HYDRA as well. I don't know how many more, but I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you.” They were getting closer, and Steve’s loud voice ringing in her ears wasn’t helping Y/n carry on with her mission.
“They almost have what they want. Absolute control. They shot Nick Fury. And it won't end there. If you launch those helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them.” They were getting closer. Y/n knows that if they make it in there, she’s going to have to kill Maria, and she could shut down the entire plan right after that. It would be another mission accomplished.
S.H.I.E.L.D. would remain under the control of HYDRA, and everybody who had the power to stop them would be dead the minute those helicarriers went out. It was always the plan, that was how it was meant to be.
“I know I'm asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it.”
“024, it’s right here!” The agent shouted as they rounded the corner, with the door to where Maria was standing right in front of them.
“But I’m willing to bet I’m not.” Fuck.
Y/n took her gun out of its holster and quickly shot the two agents in the back of their heads right before they opened the door, their bodies dropping to the ground with a thud.
“It’s Y/n.” Y/n stared at their bodies before letting out a sigh of relief. It felt weird, compromising a mission like that when it was so close to getting done. But it didn’t feel wrong.
“Everything is clear, make sure Sam-” Y/n spoke as she entered where Maria was, but her words were cut short as she felt the barrel of a gun be placed directly against her forehead, and she was met with the face of a stone cold Maria Hill.
“I’ll deal with you later.” Y/n glanced behind Maria and into the room, her eyes landing on the security system showing the cameras placed in the halls leading up to the room where she was in. She sighed and dropped her gun, letting Maria cuff her and bring her into the room.
Y/n found herself sitting in a cell void of any windows with a single light hanging from the ceiling. The walls were old and gray, the paint chipping off, and her bed had an incredibly thin mattress with a single pillow, not even a blanket.
The sound of the door opening reached her ears, but Y/n didn’t bother looking up, keeping her eyes on the ground, her body unmoving.
“It is an interesting floor, isn’t it?” The sound of Tony’s voice reached her ears. She didn’t respond.
“Your food has maggots in it. Does it not bother you? Or is that what HYDRA feeds its agents? I wouldn’t put it past them. Figures that a bunch of nazis wouldn’t be above eating bugs.” Tony asked, tilting his head to see if he could get a look at Y/n’s face, but her hair was covering it, so he let it be.
“So what now, huh?” Tony wasn’t the first person to come in to interrogate her. First, it was Nick, then it was Natasha, then it was Clint, now it was Tony. She knows Bruce wouldn’t take on the job because Y/n knew the ins and outs of getting the Hulk out now, and they weren’t about to risk that. Steve didn’t try, and Y/n assumed it was because he wanted nothing to do with her anymore.
The thought of that hurt her more than she wanted to admit.
Nick and Natasha had been completely cold to her, that much was expected. Though Natasha seemed more angry than Nick. There was always this aggression simmering under Natasha’s tone whenever she spoke to her, but ever the professional, she kept her cool.
Clint was kinder, Y/n didn’t know why. He was the one who brought her food everyday. Sometimes, he didn’t even ask anything about HYDRA and would just ask Y/n how she was doing, or he would tell her about something that happened in his day or what’s been going on with the rest of the team.
This was Tony’s first attempt.
“You know that on the other side of this wall right here,” Tony said, walking over to the wall on Y/n’s left that was completely barren, save for the dirt and grime that had been growing on it.
“It’s the edge of a cliff. There’s a river right below it, and it’s around an eighty feet drop. They wanted to make sure you had no way to escape. But if you had a window, it’d be one hell of a view.” Tony said, looking to Y/n to see her reaction, but once again, nothing.
“This whole dark and brooding thing you’ve got going on doesn’t really suit you. I know you like to pretend to be this edgy kid and all, but knowing that you’re a giggly and affectionate drunk, it just doesn’t work.” Tony said before crouching down in front of Y/n to try and meet her eyes.
“Come on, Y/n. Give me something to work with here. Were you brainwashed? Hm? Tell me you were forced to do all of this against your will, and I’ll get you right out.” Tony said in an almost pleading tone that was masked by his usual confidence.
“Everything I did…” Y/n spoke, her voice raspy from going days without speaking, looking up and staring Tony straight in the eyes.
“I chose to do” Y/n spoke.
“It was all for HYDRA.” The tiniest shake in Y/n’s voice caused something to shift in Tony’s eyes. He nodded to himself, eyes looking to the ground and thinking to himself before he raised his right arm and pulled down the sleeve of his suit.
“Was giving this to me all for HYDRA, too?” He asked, and Y/n’s eyes fell on the stupid Iron Man watch Y/n had gotten Tony for his birthday.
When she was invited, Y/n didn’t know what to think. She didn’t even know people celebrated their birthdays, the entire concept was foreign to her. Natasha told her that people normally give gifts when attending a person’s birthday.
Y/n had no idea how to pick out a gift, or what kind of gift Tony would even like. She heard he was a bit of a narcissist, so Y/n bought him one of those plastic light up watches with an Iron Man design on it. Whenever it struck twelve, the watch would say “I am Iron Man.”
On the back, it even said “Made in China”. Y/n had never been to China before, so she thought it was cool to have something from there. Y/n saw the watch and thought it was the most fascinating thing in the world, and she thought Tony would feel the same.
Seeing everyone bring lavish gifts to the party, Y/n suddenly felt incredibly insecure about hers. She had gotten the idea of giving gifts wrong, and Y/n was rarely ever wrong. Tony had caught her trying to throw it away, so he took it from her before she could and opened it.
It was one of the first times Y/n felt nervous. The last time she had made an error on a task, she had been punished severely, and that was when she was still a little girl. She didn’t know why she thought Tony would do the same for giving him a bad gift, but it was on her mind.
Instead of hitting her, or even laughing at her, Tony put it on, patted her on the shoulder, and told her it was the best gift he had ever gotten. Y/n felt like he was lying, but every time they met, Tony would be wearing the watch, and Y/n felt a little bit better about herself each time she saw it around his wrist.
“How old were you when they took you in?” Tony asked and Y/n looked back down to the ground.
“...I was born into it.” Tony’s eyebrows raised at the words before a huff left his mouth.
“I’m assuming there wasn’t much of a playground at HYDRA?” Tony asked sarcastically.
“There were jungle gyms.” Y/n answered seriously, and Tony let out a “huh” in thought.
“Were you ever planning on telling us?” Tony asked after a pause of silence between the two. Y/n hesitated for a moment before shaking her head in response.
“That would compromise the mission.” Y/n answered.
“Shooting the agents meant to take down the woman who was foiling your evil plan kind of sounds like compromising the mission, but you did that anyway.” Tony pointed out, but Y/n didn’t react or respond to what he said.
He watched her for a moment, trying his best to get a read on Y/n’s face despite it being completely blocked away from him. But Tony didn’t need to see Y/n’s face to know what was going through her mind. The droplets of water on the floor right underneath her face told Tony enough.
“Well, I’m pretty sure I just got a hundred different diseases standing here.” Tony said as he got up.
“Here, take this. I don’t need it anymore.” Y/n looked up to see Tony taking off his watch and tossing it to Y/n who quickly caught it.
She didn’t even watch Tony leave, her eyes completely focused on the watch in her hands. She didn’t know how long she was staring at it until the watch suddenly lit up, the numbers glowing a yellow 12:00 before a familiar voice rang through it, speaking “I am Iron Man.”
Y/n felt her throat clog up and all of a sudden, the back of her eyes started burning. Y/n tightened her grip on the watch as she rested her head against her hands, her entire body shaking as another boust of tears started escaping her eyes.
She had been doing that a lot lately, and she didn’t know why. Y/n had never cried before in her life until recently, and she decided that she hated it. She didn’t like the pain that crying brought or the way it made her sob because she didn’t like being loud.
Then, the sound of an engine whirring reached Y/n’s ears, and her eyes swerved to the wall on her left as the sound got louder. In the next second, Y/n quickly got up and slammed her foot down onto the foot of her mattress, the force of it being strong enough to make it jump up, and Y/n grabbed onto the frame before ducking behind it to block the explosion that had burst through her cell.
Her ears were ringing and the sound of an alarm was blaring through the building. Though Y/n was quick to gain her senses back as she stepped out from behind the bed, just in time to catch sight of an Iron Man suit flying away from the gaping hole in what used to be her wall.
Y/n walked over to the door and looked out the bars of it to see the guards that were supposed to be standing by her door be knocked out on the ground.
Suddenly, a rush of adrenaline coursed through Y/n’s body as she stepped towards the wall. Tony was right, it was one hell of a view. She looked down at the sound of rushing water to see the river that Tony had told her about. The wall was so thick that she wasn’t able to hear it before, but there wasn’t a wall anymore, so…
“Get there quick!” Y/n looked behind her where the direction of the shouting came from. She looked back down to the watch in her hand which had gone back to normal, then back to the river below her.
This could be her chance to start over. She wouldn’t be a HYDRA soldier, she wouldn’t be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, she wouldn’t be an Avenger… She could just be Y/n.
As her door burst open, Y/n let herself fall, and the next thing she knew, she was being completely submerged in water.
-
“Then I died, the end.’’ Y/n concluded and everyone let out shouts and groans of protest.
“What happened after?” Yelena asked through a mouth full of popcorn that she had gotten for everyone in the middle of the story.
“I told you. I died, I drowned, never to be seen again. This is the ghost of Y/n’s past, and right now, she’s telling you that it’s the end of the story because I still have to make dinner.” Y/n said as she got up from her arm chair.
“Y/n, tell us the next part of the story!” Morgan exclaimed, jumping up from her seat and running over to Y/n, wrapping her arms around her legs to stop her from leaving. Y/n smiled and patted Morgan’s hair.
“Maybe next time, Maguna. But I really do have to make you guys dinner.” Y/n said, laughing as they continued to try and stop her, but ultimately ignoring their pleas and making their dinner.
When the parents came home to pick up their kids, everyone was completely tired and ready to pass out at that point, save for Natahniel and Morgan who were actually already passed out.
“Hope she wasn’t too much trouble.” Tony said as Y/n carefully handed the sleeping Morgan over to her father.
“No, no, she was great. Very easy to manage.” Y/n said with a smile as she stroked the side of Morgan’s head.
“Are you sure we’re talking about the same kid here?” Tony asked and Y/n chuckled. Her eyes then fell onto the familiar watch sitting around Tony’s wrist, and she reached out and took his hand in hers, turning it around to get a good look at it.
“I don’t know why you still insist on wearing this all the time.” It had broken all those years ago when Y/n fell into the water. Y/n tried getting someone to fix it, but it was completely water logged. She still held onto it though, and when she met up with Tony again, he demanded to have it back.
“I told you, it’s the best gift I’ve ever been given. Why would I not wear it?” Tony answered simply and Y/n smiled to herself before letting Tony’s hand go.
“Thank you.” Y/n said, and she didn’t need to elaborate for Tony to understand what she was getting at. Tony simply stared at her and nodded his head.
When Tony had left, Y/n sat back down in her armchair and looked at the compound around her. For the longest time, Y/n simply went wherever she was needed because there was nowhere else for her to go. But now, she could actually say that she had found a place for herself she could call home, and she was happy she decided not to leave.
Chapter Summary: Bucky spends all his time inside watching the same movie over and over again, so Y/n takes him out and helps him feel like he's back home.
A/n: Tumblr's doing this thing where it won't make my posts show up in tags. On pride month too, so disappointed.

“Hey, what are you watching?” Y/n asked when she saw Bucky sitting on the couch staring intensely at the screen.
“The Godfather.” Bucky mumbled, not looking away, but taking note that Y/n had sat next to him.
“Again? This is like the seventh time this month now.” Y/n said and Bucky simply grunted in response, not seeing anything wrong with what Y/n said.
“There are other films out there set in the forties, you know?” Y/n said, looking at Bucky who still kept his eyes on the tv.
“Like what?” He asked and Y/n let out a huff when she realized she didn’t really have an answer.
“Uh, Casablanca? That was in the forties, I think.” Y/n said and Bucky stayed silent for a moment.
“I didn’t like it.” Bucky answered and Y/n let out a surprised gasp.
“Seriously? I thought that was one of the best movies or something.” Y/n said and Bucky simply shrugged.
“It wasn’t for me.” Bucky said and Y/n let out a sigh as she took out her phone.
“Let me look at some other movies for you to watch so you don’t rot your mind with The Godfather.” Y/n said and Bucky simply nodded in response.
“Let’s see… Boy In The- Nope.” Y/n said, scrolling past that suggestion because she doesn’t think a movie about the war would really help Bucky who fought in the war.
“Dunkirk. Nevermind not that. The Pianist, yeah no. Darkest- Okay, no. Pearl- I’m not even gonna say the next word. Jojo Rabbit? Oh that’s cool, one of the actresses looks just like Natasha.” Y/n said, showing a picture to Bucky who finally glanced away to look at the photo.
“Looks nothing like her.” Bucky said, returning his attention back onto the movie.
“Yeah, you’re right.” Y/n said as she continued looking.
“Oh, The Sound of Music! Apparently it’s set in the late thirties, but close enough, right? I watched it and I liked it. Maybe you should try it.” Y/n suggested and Bucky paused the movie and leaned back against the couch so he could focus on the conversation instead.
“I don’t know. I’m not really a musical guy.” Bucky said and Y/n raised a questioning eyebrow to the man.
“What?” He asked.
“It’s just that Steve told me you were a huge dancer back before the whole icing thing. He said you were the best dancer he knew.” Y/n said and a small chuckle left Bucky’s mouth.
“Well, Steve didn’t really know a whole lot of people back then, so take his words with a grain of salt.” Bucky said and Y/n let out a scoff of disbelief.
“He’s Captain America. I’m sure he knew tons of people.” Y/n said and Bucky fiddled with his fingers awkwardly.
“Well, when he became Captain America, we didn’t really have a whole lot of time to go dancing.” Bucky said and the air became awkward at the implication.
“Right…” Y/n mumbled, but she shook her head and the smile returned on her face.
“I’m sure that dancer is still in there somewhere. Maybe you just need something to pull it out, like a musical.” Y/n said and Bucky shook his head in response.
“I lost that part of me a long time ago. That hasn’t been me for a long time and I don’t think I have it in me to become that person again.” Bucky said in a surprising bout of vulnerability.
“Don’t say that.” Y/n said with a small frown on her face.
“It’s alright. I don’t think it’s even possible to come out of something like that completely your old self.” Bucky said as he grabbed the remote and started the movie again.
“Well, I like the way you are right now, even if you don’t sometimes. But I bet some old part of yourself is still in there.” Y/n said, patting Bucky on the shoulder and the man released a breath.
“Maybe.” He mumbled and Y/n thought to herself for a moment before getting up.
“Well, enjoy your movie!” Y/n said with a smile and Bucky gave her a small wave as she walked away.
A few weeks later, Bucky was laying in his bed, doing nothing but staring at the ceiling, when he heard a knock on his door. Bucky looked at the door before reluctantly getting up and going over to open it.
“Y/n? Do you need help with dinner?” Bucky asked, recalling how a few hours ago, Y/n had announced that no one was to step foot into the kitchen unless they wanted their arms chopped off as usual before cooking.
“No, I actually already finished dinner, but we’re not going to eat here tonight.” Y/n said and Bucky furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
“But you said you just finished dinner.” Bucky said.
“I know, but that’s for Bruce and Pietro. We’re going to be eating out tonight.” Y/n said, but it didn’t really ease Bucky’s confusion.
“Okay? Where are we eating?” Bucky asked and Y/n grinned up at him.
“It’s a surprise. Now go take a shower, and get dressed like how you would normally get dressed before you became a soldier.” Y/n said.
“What?” Bucky asked, getting more and more confused with each sentence Y/n spoke.
“Just do it! Meet me outside once you’re done, and don’t take longer than an hour!” Y/n said, closing Bucky’s door and walking back to her room. Bucky stood there in confusion.
“Before I became a soldier?” He mumbled to himself in confusion as he got himself a towel and headed into the shower like Y/n told him to.
When he got out, Bucky went through his closet and must’ve stared at it for half an hour, trying to figure out what Y/n meant. When he realized that his forty minutes were almost up, Bucky just grabbed what he thought looked good.
He took some brown pants, a white undershirt, and a light cream shirt, leaving the collar open a bit with some suspenders. Was this what Y/n meant? He didn’t have a lot of time to think about it, so Bucky just grabbed his Converse and put them on before walking out of his room.
He was relieved to see that Y/n was nowhere to be found when he walked into the living area because that woman surely would’ve given him hell had he been late. Bucky looked over to the kitchen to see food sitting in a pot on the stove and was confused as to why Y/n wanted to go out.
His attention shifted elsewhere when the sound of a door opening from down the hall filled the air. The loud clicking of ears followed and Bucky turned around to the hallway, eyes widening when he saw who was walking out.
“Don’t I look so pretty?” Y/n asked with a big grin as she put a pearl earring on before extending her arms and doing a little spin.
She was wearing a cream colored dress, similar to the one Bucky was wearing. The sleeves were folded up a bit and her hair was done up and curly with a red ribbon. She also wore red lipstick, heels, and had a pearl necklace and matching pearl earrings on to finish the look.
“My butt is so numb from sitting in front of that mirror trying to curl my hair like this without burning it. I don’t know how women in their forties could do this everyday, it is such a chore.” Y/n said with a chuckle, then she realized that Bucky hadn’t said anything.
“Well? How do I look?” Y/n asked, snapping Bucky out of his thoughts.
“Like you walked straight out of the forties.” Bucky said as he looked Y/n up and down. For a moment, he had forgotten he was in the twenty-first century and was taken back to slightly easier times.
“You don’t look too bad yourself, Mr. Barnes.” Y/n said, putting on her best forties accent.
“Nobody actually talked like that.” Bucky said with an amused smile on his face and Y/n frowned in return.
“Really? But all the people in those forties movies talked like that.” Y/n said and Bucky shook his head in amusement.
“Where are we going dressed like this? I don’t think many people are walking down the streets of New York looking like we’re in the middle of a world war.” Bucky said and Y/n placed her hand on her hips, sending the man a pointed look.
“You know, the point of a surprise is that you’re not supposed to know what it is until it happens.” Y/n said.
“I wasn’t aware that I was in for a surprise.” Bucky said with raised eyebrows.
“I thought me not telling you where we’re going to eat was enough of a hint that I had something planned.” Y/n asked, crossing her arms and Bucky paused for a moment before releasing a breathy laugh.
“I guess you do have a point there.” Bucky said and Y/n smiled in response.
“Come on, I don’t want us to be late.” Y/n said, grabbing Bucky’s arm and leading him out of the compound.
“Here, catch.” She said, tossing Bucky something which the man easily caught with one hand. He looked down to see a pair of keys.
“If you want me to drive, I’m gonna have to know where we’re going.” Bucky said as he followed behind Y/n.
“Yes, yes, I know. But to avoid ruining the surprise, I’m just gonna tell you which turns to make.” Y/n said as they were met with the cold night air.
“Wouldn’t using a GPS be easier though?” Bucky asked in confusion and Y/n turned to him, walking backwards while facing him with a smile.
“There’s not gonna be a GPS on what we’re riding in tonight.” She grinned and Bucky was about to ask something again when his eyes caught something behind Y/n.
His steps slowed to a shock as his eyes widened at the sight of a seemingly new sleek and dark red nineteen-forty Chevrolet. Bucky’s dream car ever since it came out.
“How did you…” Bucky said in shock as he slowly walked over to the car, hand touching the hood and staring at the car in disbelief.
“Now you better behave, Mr. Barnes. My daddy is expecting you to bring me back home before midnight and if he sees even a single scratch on his car, you’re gonna be staring down the barrel of his shotgun.” Y/n said jokingly, repeating the forties accent she did earlier.
“Again, we didn’t talk like that.” Bucky said, still in shock as he looked up to Y/n who let out a huff.
“Just let me enjoy it, okay? Now do you want to drive this car or not?” Y/n asked and the Bucky looked back to the car once again before a huge grin spread onto his face.
“Can I really?” He asked Y/n whose face softened at the joy on this man’s face, causing a smile of her own to appear.
“Yes, now come on!” Y/n said with a laugh and Bucky shook his head in disbelief but didn’t wait any longer to go over to the driver’s side and get in.
“Oh, wow. It still has that new car smell.” Bucky said with a satisfied smile as he felt the material of the seats, looking around the car and taking in the sight of the car he’s been dreaming about for so long.
“How does it feel, Bucky?” Y/n asked, enjoying the look on the man’s face, as if he was a child that had just walked into a toy store.
“This reminds me of that one time I convinced Steve to sneak into a car show with me. We snuck into one of these and just sat there. We knew it would be the only time we’d ever experience sitting in a car like this, and even though we got beat up by the guy who owned it later, it was so worth it.” Bucky recalled as he lifted his hand up, gripping the steering wheel and letting out a deep breath.
“What are you waiting for then? Let’s take it for a spin!” Y/n said enthusiastically and Bucky looked at her with a smile on his face, as if unable to believe this was real.
But he came to his senses and put the key into the ignition and started it up, getting chills when the car came to life.
“I just realized this thing has no seatbelts.” Y/n mumbled as she looked around, trying to find something to protect her.
“Oh, you didn’t need any seat belts back then. You just stuck your arm out the window and enjoyed the thrill.” Bucky said as she put the car into drive. Meanwhile, Y/n had just processed what he had said.
“Wait, what?” She asked, but Bucky didn’t even hear her, too excited as he sped the car off.
Y/n felt herself be pushed slightly back into her seat as Bucky started rolling his window down. He seemed to revel in the wind hitting his face and the experience of driving this car. Y/n has experienced riding fancier and much faster cars than this, and she’s sure Bucky has as well.
But it seemed like none of those other vehicles compared to the feeling Bucky was getting from this car alone. His excitement was becoming infectious and Y/n couldn’t help but grin as she rolled her own window down and stuck part of her head out, feeling the wind against her face as well.
She took it up another notch as she leaned half her body out, turning as her body was facing up and letting herself lean back with her arms extended out. Bucky glanced back and forth between the road and Y/n who was screaming her excitement out into the dead of night without fear.
Bucky grinned as he leaned his head out as well, keeping his hands on the wheel, but copying Y/n as he shouted out into the air. When the two put themselves back into the safety of the car, they couldn’t help but be out of breath from all the excitement.
“Oh, make a left turn!” Y/n pointed out and Bucky was quick to turn the wheel and make the turn right before they almost missed it.
Y/n continued to point out directions and she couldn’t help but happily watch Bucky drive. It was the most emotive he had ever seen the man be, and she’s known him for a bit of time now. The Bucky she knew was always so solemn and passive, obviously resulting in everything he’s been through since dropping from that mountain on that mission decades ago.
But Y/n couldn’t help but feel like she was seeing the person Bucky used to be before all of that happened to him.
When Y/n had told Bucky to pull up to the side of the street, the man was incredibly hesitant to get out.
“We can drive around the city in the car for as long as you want after dinner, okay? But right now, I’m really hungry and you need to eat something as well.” Y/n said and Bucky let out a sigh.
“Okay.” He said, taking the keys out and stuffing it in his pocket as the two exited the car.
“Follow me.” Y/n said and Bucky nodded and he followed the girl into a dodgy dive bar.
The dive bar looked incredibly sketchy. The place seemed incredibly old and Bucky has been in some gross dive bars before, but this was a whole new level of weird.
“Can I get you something?” The man at the bar asked. He was a big and burly man, wearing a simple vest and undershirt, arms covered with tattoos and a balding head of hair.
“Oh, hello there, darling. Me and my friend here heard rumors around the streets about this place and simply could not wait to experience your wonderful establishment. But don’t worry, we bring many gifts with us as well.” Y/n said, returning her forties accent which made Bucky look at her in amusement.
The intimidating glare the man wore quickly disappeared after hearing that last sentence, being replaced with a warm smile as he beckoned the two over with his hand, walking into the back room.
“What is this place?” Bucky asked as Y/n started eagerly following the bartender.
“You’ll love it, I promise.” Y/n said excitedly, grabbing Bucky’s arm and leading him towards where the man was taking them.
“You both look incredibly lovely, it’s always nice seeing people put so much effort into playing the part.” The man said, his gruff tone from earlier disappearing completely, being replaced by a soft Irish accent.
“Why thank you, sir.” Y/n said, curtseying to the man who nodded his head in response with a smile before opening another door, leading to a set of stairs going down.
“Let’s go!” Y/n said, quickly heading down the stairs with Bucky following behind, still very much confused about the situation.
As they continued making their way down the stairs, Bucky’s ears were met with the beautiful sound of brass, drums, piano, and this soulful voice along with the loud chattering of people.
They were met with another door and once Y/n entered it, the stairway was filled with light and it was like the two were transported to an entirely different world.
Bucky felt the air in his lungs leave his body as he was met with a bar full of people that look like they all came straight out of the forties. From the people, to the music, to the ambiance, it all felt like Bucky was back home in Brooklyn where everything was normal and nice.
It felt like the overwhelming modern world Bucky was thrusted into no longer existed within the confinements of this room. As if this room really did capture a part of the forties and stuck it into this speakeasy without any complications.
“How did you find this place?” Bucky asked in wonder as he looked around, feeling nothing but nostalgia run through him.
“I did some digging and found out this speakeasy does historical themed events every month based on a different period of time. This month just happened to be the forties and I thought it would be perfect for you.”
The Avengers were constantly having events because of Tony and the need to get more investors to support the Avengers, and each time Bucky had to attend one of those things, he would always feel incredibly uncomfortable and out of his limits.
But right now, Bucky has never felt more normal since waking up from being brainwashed by HYDRA and being saved by his best friend. He was finally able to go back to the life he was stripped away from after all these years, and he almost felt like falling to his knees and crying.
“We have been standing here for over five minutes and you still haven’t offered to buy me a drink. Where are your manners, Bucky?” Y/n teased after seeing Bucky fall deeper into his thoughts. She didn’t want Bucky to fret too much because she wanted the man to take advantage of this event and enjoy it as much as he can before it’s over.
Bucky looked back to Y/n and gave her the most thankful look he could convey with his eyes alone. Being able to ride his dream car was already more than Bucky could have ever asked for, but this… This really was a dream come true.
“I apologize, I don’t know what came over me. Usually I’m more of a gentleman. Let me make it up to you.” Bucky said, mimicking the accent that Y/n did with a small smile appearing on his lips.
“I knew you guys talked like that.” Y/n said with a grin and Bucky couldn’t help but laugh. Y/n looked over at the man and felt her heart swell with pride after seeing Bucky’s relaxed posture and carefree smile on his face, a twinkle in his eyes that Y/n has never seen before.
“Let’s go have some dinner now, shall we?” Bucky asked, sticking his arm out to Y/n who grinned and grabbed a hold of it, the two making their way over to an empty booth.
Bucky ordered a beef stew and some bread along with a nice cocktail while Y/n ordered a simple steak and mashed potatoes, plus two slices of Pecan Pie for her and Bucky as dessert. Throughout the meal, Bucky reminisced to Y/n about his time with Steve in New York when they were both younger and how it was the best times of their lives.
“I left him for one second to get a drink and he already managed to piss some guy off and get beaten up in an alleyway. Again! It was the third time that week already, but the guy just doesn’t know when to quit!” Bucky recalled fondly and Y/n chuckled in response.
“Yeah, that definitely sounds like something Steve would do.” Y/n said and Bucky shook his head in amusement.
“The guy was useless at everything. Couldn’t hold himself up in a fight, had two left feet, absolute wreck around women. I don’t know how he managed to pull off becoming a super soldier for that long.” Bucky said with a sigh as he took a sip of his drink.
“You talk a lot of shit about Steve’s dancing but I don’t see you doing any better.” Y/n teased.
“That’s because you’ve never seen me dance. But anyone can make themselves look like an incredible dancer when they’re dancing next to Steve. It’s why I was more famous on the dance floor, his moves kept making me look good.” Bucky joked and Y/n grinned.
“Why don’t you prove it then? Steve isn’t here to make you look good, all you have is your own skill.” Y/n said as she finished slid out of her side of the booth and stood up.
“What do you mean?” Bucky asked in slight shock when Y/n turned to him and held her hand out to him.
“May I have this dance, Sergeant Jame Buchanan Barnes?” Y/n asked and Bucky looked up at her with a hesitant look on his face.
He hasn’t danced in years and Bucky wonders to himself if he even still remembers how to. This was probably the most he’s smiled in years as well because there hasn’t been much to smile about at all. Everything that came with being in the twenty-first century was filled with nothing but bad memories and experiences.
But being transported back home through this underground bar that Y/n had found just for him, it made Bucky feel like all of that didn’t even exist. Like he was never taken away from his life and that he was back to living it the way he was supposed to be.
Even if it was just for tonight, Bucky let himself pretend that all of that; HYDRA, the brainwashing, becoming the Winter Soldier, the killings; never happened.
“Yes, you may.” Bucky said as he grabbed Y/n’s hand and left the booth, walking her over to the empty space in the bar, spinning the girl who let out a shocked but excited yelp at the action.
It was like falling back into an old routine, one that Bucky never really forgot even after all this time. Bucky pulled Y/n back into him as he let himself feel the music, his feet moving fast against the beat with Y/n easily following his lead.
Without even thinking about it, Bucky pulled Y/n back into him, one arm going to her waist and the other holding onto her hand as she spun them around, swaying back and forth like it was second nature to him.
People were watching and soon enough, other people got the courage to get up and join in on the dancing, making Bucky feel like it was a Friday night in the local bar where everyone just got paid and decided to have fun after a never-ending week of overbearing work.
As they were dancing, someone entering the bar caught Bucky’s eyes. He gaped at the sight of Steve Rogers wearing familiar forties attire walking inside, looking around the bar with a look of wonder on his face. Bucky slowly stopped dancing as he met eyes with Steve who gave him a small smile, a light sheen to his eyes.
“Oh, you made it!” Y/n exclaimed when she turned to where Bucky was looking out, immediately filling with excitement when she saw Captain Steve Rogers.
“Well you sound so enthusiastic over the phone that I just had to come.” Steve said as Y/n ran over to him and gave him a hug.
“I thought you weren’t set to come back yet.” Bucky said slightly breathless as he went over to his best friend. Steve was on a mission and he wasn’t supposed to come home until five days from now.
“Well, Y/n managed to convince me to wrap up my mission a lot sooner because apparently she had something planned for us. She said if I didn’t follow through, she'd lock me out of my room and make me sleep on the couch for a week.” Steve said and Y/n smiled up at the man.
“And you just regained your room privileges.” Y/n said and Steve chuckled in amusement.
“Well? What do you guys think? Did they get the place right?” Y/n asked, watching the two men look back to the bar and take everything in.
“More than you could imagine.” Bucky said with a sigh before turning to Y/n.
“Thank you. This means so much more than you know.” Bucky said and Y/n smiled, pulling the man into a hug.
“You’re welcome.” She said before pulling away and smiling up at the two men.
“Come on, Steve. I need someone to make me look good on the dance floor.” Bucky said as he started walking back to the center of the room, leaving Steve with a furrowed look on his face.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked, following after and Bucky just snickered.
Y/n watched as the two bickered in the middle of the dance floor with Bucky trying to teach Steve how to dance and Steve standing uncomfortably stiff around everyone else. It was nice to see those two in their element and Y/n was proud to say that she had some part in that.

It was quiet in the compound which wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Only a few Avengers were present because the others were off on missions of their own, but the ones who were here were still asleep. They had a busy weekend and got some well-needed sleep.
Y/n was already up, as per usual. She’s been up since five am, getting a head start on some cleaning, already having folded the clothes that just got out of the dryer as well. She only made breakfast for herself because she knew nobody would be awake early enough to enjoy breakfast without spoiling their lunch.
For a moment, she decided to just sit back and read a book before she had to get productive again to make lunch. She heard footsteps and a light groan come from the hallway and Y/n raised her head, looking to see who it was.
“Good morning, did you get a nice sleep?” Y/n asked Natasha with a kind smile on her face as Natasha made her way over and sat on the other side of the couch.
“Not any different from usual. I think I need to replace my mattress.” Nat said as she stretched, hand going to support her back which was aching.
“Tony’s not gonna want to hear that.” Y/n said and Nat let out a light laugh.
“Well, my back’s not gonna care about what he says.” Natasha said and Y/n simply smiled in response.
“There’s still some coffee in the kitchen if you want it.” Y/n said and Natasha thanked the girl before getting up and going over to the kitchen.
This was nice. A quiet morning where nothing hectic was happening. It was rare for any of the Avengers to just have some peace and an opportunity to relax.
Suddenly loud knocking met Natasha and Y/n’s ears, causing the two to look at each other in confusion.
“Are we expecting anyone?” Natasha asked as she reached under the counter and took out a hidden pistol.
“No, not that I’m aware of.” Y/n said as she slowly stood up and prepared herself to get into a stance.
Natasha raised her finger to her lip and Y/n nodded, watching as the woman slowly made her way over to the door, and leaning up to the peephole to see who was outside.
“Oh, dear god.” Natasha mumbled as she threw the gun back onto the counter.
“What? Who is it?” Y/n asked, standing up straight as she went over to Natasha, about to open the door herself.
“No, do not open that door.” Natasha said in an annoyed tone.
“What? Why-”
“Natasha, we can hear you! Open the door!” Y/n lit up as she heard the voice of Yelena outside, and immediately went back to the doorknob.
“Wait, no!” Natasha called out, but she was too late because Y/n had already opened the door.
Y/n held her arms out, about to go in to hug the blonde girl, but instead of being pulled into Yelena’s arms, Y/n was pulled into a very tight hold by a very big man.
“Wow, they are so hospitable here. The Avengers have their very own door person to greet the guests!” A Russian accent met Y/n’s ears as she felt herself being squeezed and lifted up before being placed down.
“Maybe I should think about getting one of those back home.” Another Russian accent, but this time female, and they pulled Y/n into a hug as well before letting her go.
“I-What? What?” Y/n asked in confusion as she watched these two strangers enter the compound.
“Sorry, Y/n.” Y/n turned her head back to the door and she felt herself be pulled into another hug, but this time the frame was familiar.
“What the hell is happening?” Y/n asked in confusion to Yelena who gave her an apologetic look.
“Natasha! We’ve missed you! You never call, you never write, what gives, huh?” The man said with a bellowing laugh as he attempted to wrap Natasha into a hug, but the woman quickly ducked out of the way.
“Nope, no. I’m not doing this today.” Natasha said, internally cringing as she walked towards Y/n and her sister.
“Is this straight black coffee? You’re going to kill yourself, honey. I’ll make you proper coffee.” The woman said as she grabbed the mug and tossed its contents into the sink.
“Hey, I wasn’t done with that!” Natasha exclaimed and Y/n grabbed Natasha’s arm, quickly pulling her to the side.
“I’m sorry, what’s going on? Who are these people?” Y/n asked in confusion as she continuously glanced over at the two.
The woman was looking through all the cabinets, looking for ingredients to make coffee. Y/n furrowed her eyebrows when she saw the woman take out a bottle of vodka. She then looked over to the man who was taking his boots off, throwing them on the carpet and settling on the couch with a sigh.
She decided to ignore the dirt and mud now on the floor and carpet, deciding to give Natasha a chance to explain before she went crazy.
“They’re nobody.” Natasha said and Yelena let out a snort as she walked over to the two.
“Oh, you hurt my heart, dear sister!” Yelena said, wrapping her arms around her sister’s shoulders which caused Natasha to let out a sigh.
“You hear that? Natasha says we’re nobodies.” Yelena said to the other two.
“Nobody? Agh, when will you grow out of that ‘embarrassed of your family’ phase of yours?” The man called from the couch.
“That is no way to talk to your family. Now here, drink. You look like you could use something to wake you up.” The woman said, walking over to them with a mug in her hands, cupping Natasha’s cheek before handing her the drink and going over to join the man.
Natasha let out a sigh, taking a sip of the coffee before choking and coughing, setting the mug back down on the counter.
“Jeez, how much alcohol did you put in this?” Natasha said as she went over to grab a glass of water to wash down the ‘coffee.’
“Wait. Did they just say family?” Y/n said, eyebrows raising as amusement started filling into her eyes.
“Oh, Natasha, you didn’t introduce us to the door hugger!” The man said as he got up from the couch and approached.
“She’s not the door hugger, she’s the maid.” Yelena said and Y/n smiled at her before elbowing her in the stomach, causing Yelena to groan and grip her stomach.
“No, no, she’s not. This is Y/n, she’s a retired Avenger and a good friend.” Natasha said and Y/n smiled at the man who held his hand out to her.
“Nice to meet you! I am Alexei, Natasha’s papa.” Y/n’s eyebrows raised higher as she shook the man’s hand, turning to Natasha who had an embarrassed look on her face.
“Is that so? Natasha hasn’t really told me anything about you guys.” Y/n said with a teasing smile to Natasha who rolled her eyes. She knew Natasha had parents through Yelena, but she refused to talk about them.
“They’re not my actual parents. They’re like my… Very reluctant adoptive parents.” Natasha said as the woman got up and approached as well.
“Ah, adoptive parents, actual parents, that’s all nonsense titles. We’re your parents either way.” The woman said, waving her hand dismissively before grabbing a hold of Y/n’s and shaking it.
“My name’s Melina, I am Natasha’s mother. It is very nice to meet you.” Melina said and Y/n smiled.
“It’s nice to meet you too. I knew you guys existed, but I never expected you guys to be so… eccentric.” Y/n said and the woman seemed pleased as she let her hand go.
“You might recognize me, actually. I’m a bit of a legend until I got sent to prison.” Alexei said with a proud smile.
“Oh, here he goes.” Yelena said with a roll of her eyes.
“I look a bit different from before, but I promise you this is the truth. Right now, you are standing in the presence of the exceptional, legendary, incredible, mighty Red Guardian.” Alexei said as he held his hands out, a huge smile on his face.
“Oh, that’s so cool!” Y/n said excitedly and Yelena and Natasha sent her a look of disbelief.
“You know who he is?” Yelena asked in disbelief.
“No, but he seems proud of it!” Y/n said with a shrug and Alexei laughed, patting Y/n's back a bit too roughly, but she could take it.
“Not that I’m totally hating this entire experience right now or anything, but why are you guys here?” Natasha asked, crossing her arms and a big smile appeared on Melina’s face.
“We came here to surprise you!” She said.
“Well, consider me surprised. You guys have done your job, you can leave now.” Natasha said, gesturing to the door.
“I can really feel the love radiating off of you, it’s almost unbearable.” Yelena said sarcastically.
“Why would we leave now when we have the whole day planned with you?” Melina asked, her question seemingly literal and not rhetorical.
“Look, this is the first day off I’ve had in a while and I just spent the last month undercover, I really just want to relax.” Natasha said.
“And what’s more relaxing than spending time with your family and having a fun bonding experience?” Yelena asked as she lifted herself up to sit on the counter.
“Do I even want to know what you guys are gonna be dragging me into doing?” Natasha asked.
“We’re going to Disneyland!” Alexei announced excitedly.
“No. God no, I am not going.” Natasha said, scrunching her face in disgust at the mention of the theme park.
“Why not? We always talked about how much we wanted to go as kids.” Yelena asked in confusion.
“Because I’m not a kid anymore and Disney as a whole is just extremely sketchy, I don’t trust it.” Natasha said.
“Well, it’s too late for that because we already have the passes.” Melina said, reaching into her pocket and pulling out four passes and handing them out.
“Yes, we’re going. You can even invite your friend and the rest of the Avengers. I know a guy who can duplicate all those passes.” Alexei said.
“I don’t think it’d be the best idea to bring the Avengers to Disneyland. You guys will get swarmed the moment you step into the park.” Y/n spoke up and Natasha nodded in approval.
“Exactly. We’re not going. Let’s just go out for lunch and walk around the park or something. It’ll be just as fun.” Natasha said and Yelena frowned at the words.
“I know you’re old, but I didn’t think you were that old already.” Yelena said and Natasha sent her sister an offended look.
“That’s… I’m not old.” She muttered bitterly, but Yelena ignored her.
“Natasha, these passes were very expensive. It would be a waste not to use them.” Melina said, but Natasha stood her ground.
“You heard what Y/n said, me going to Disneyland is a bad idea.” Natasha said and Y/n let out a hum in response.
“I didn’t say that.” Y/n said and Natasha turned to her with furrowed eyebrows.
“I said it would be a bad idea to bring the Avengers. Not an Avenger. One person going is manageable and it seems like your family really wants to spend time with you. Go, it could be fun.” Y/n said and Alexei grinned, placing a hand on Y/n’s shoulder.
“I like this one, she’s a very smart girl. You should listen to her.” Alexei said and Natasha rolled her eyes.
“Come on. It seems like they came all the way to New York just to spend time with you. Don’t just turn them away.” Y/n said and Natasha clenched her jaw, glancing between her family and seeing the encouraging looks in their eyes.
“Alright, fine.” Natasha relented with a sigh and the three visitors grinned happily.
“If I had known that all it would take to convince my sister of anything was you, Y/n, I would’ve visited more often.” Yelena said, hugging Y/n who chuckled and hugged the girl back.
“But you’re coming with us.” Natasha said, sending a pointed look to Y/n whose eyes widened.
“Me? Why?” Y/n asked, confused.
“I need someone to keep me sane, and going to Disneyland of all places with these three is going to be the thing to push me over the edge.” Natasha said.
“I don’t know. This is a family outing and it’ll feel pretty weird if I butted in.” Y/n said in an unsure tone.
“Nonsense. Any friend of my daughter is automatically a member of this family too.” Melina said and Natasha sent an amused look to Y/n who raised an eyebrow at her.
“The Avengers are my family too, and that includes you.” Natasha said.
“Well apparently I’m not really an Avenger. Didn’t you hear? I’m the maid.” Y/n joked with an eye roll causing Yelena to let out a snort.
“Please.” Natasha said with a smile and Y/n sighed. Unlike Natasha, she wasn’t that stubborn.
“Fine. I’ve always wanted to go anyway, but I didn’t want to go alone. This could be fun.” Y/n said and Natasha let out a breath of relief.
“Your definition of fun is my definition of hell.” Natasha said and Y/n chuckled in response.
“That does it then! Come on, we got a helicopter to take us to Florida.” Alexei said as he started walking out of the compound with Melina and Yelena following behind.
“I call dibs on flying!” Yelena said.
“You can sit in the co-pilot seat, but you’re not flying. You can pick the music though.” Melina said and the two were left inside.
“Let me just leave a note telling the others that they’re gonna have to order themselves lunch.” Y/n said, going over to the fridge where a white board was stuck onto it.
“Hey, Y/n?” Natasha asked and Y/n looked up from her writing to see Natasha smiling at her.
“Thank you for coming with us.” Natasha said and Y/n sent the woman a smile in return as she finished her note.
“It’s my pleasure. Besides, I heard people become entirely different versions of themselves when they’re with their family compared to when they’re with their friends. I want to see the family version of Natasha Romanoff.” Y/n said, walking past Natasha with a teasing smile and following after the other three.
The flight to Disneyland was an interesting one. They originally wanted to make a stop at Alexei’s “guy” for Y/n’s extra pass, but Y/n convinced them that she would pay for her own pass on her own. And by on her own, she means with Tony’s money.
They were an incredibly loud family, very energetic as well. Yelena was always screaming the songs that were playing from her phone. Alexei would try to sing along but if he didn’t know the song, he’d either make lyrics of his own or just shout along with the tune.
Melina would sing along as well and try to convince Nat to join in but Nat refused, though she was watching with great amusement. Y/n could tell that Nat was enjoying her time so far, even though she would never admit it.
“One time, when Natasha was ten years old, this little boy came up to her and gave her a flower, kissed her on the cheek, and ran away. She came home with the reddest face and she would not let go of that flower. She would throw a tantrum if I even tried to tell her to put it down.” Melina told Y/n who had a wide grin on her face while listening.
“No, stop that. That’s enough.” Natasha kept cutting in, but Melina simply waved her off.
“She took it with her to the bathroom, she’d hold it while sleeping, she brought it everywhere.” Melina said and Alexei laughed from where he was sitting.
“Oh, I remember this! The flower kept on dying and I had to keep finding more flowers that looked exactly like it to replace it so Natasha wouldn’t cry.” He said and Natasha’s eyes softened at the words.
“I didn’t know about that part.” Natasha said and a snicker came out of Yelena.
“Yeah then you cried for the next two days after seeing the boy do the exact same thing to a different girl.” Yelena recalled and Natasha glared at the girl, though her cheeks turned into a light shade of pink.
“Y/n, did you know that one time, Yelena fell flat on her face trying to get down from the toilet. Then when she got up, she tripped again because her shorts were still around her ankles. She tried getting up three more times, tripping each time.” Natasha revealed and Yelena let out a gasp.
“I was five years old!” Yelena said but Natasha just shrugged in response.
“Old enough to get up from the toilet on your own, but it’s fine, you were always the slow one.” Natasha said and Yelena turned from her seat and slapped Natasha on the shoulder which made Natasha slap back.
“Girls, stop fighting. We have to act dignified in front of guests.” Melina said when the two women got into a bit of a slapping match.
“I think it’s a little too late for that.” Natasha mumbled and Yelena stuck her tongue out to her sister.
“Wow, way to be mature.” Natasha said and Yelena rolled her eyes before turning around. When she was no longer looking, Natasha stuck her tongue out at Yelena.
“I saw that!” Yelena exclaimed.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
When they arrived at Disneyland, the energy just went up higher. Natasha had a cap and sunglasses on to hide her identity, and Y/n could immediately tell that Natasha would rather be anywhere else.
Meanwhile, the other three were already having a blast. They went straight to the gift shop and even though Natasha told them buying merchandise would be a complete waste of money because everything was overpriced, they still bought stuff anyway.
Alexei and Melina got matching Mickey and Minnie mouse hats. Yelena got a cap that looked like Donald Duck. Y/n got a Minnie Mouse headband and after a lot of convincing, Natasha swapped her cap out with a plain black cap with Mickey Mouse ears on them.
“I feel sick to my stomach.” Natasha said with a grimace as she put the hat on.
“I want to ride the teacups!” Yelena shouted, grabbing Y/n and Natasha’s arms as she ran over to the teacups.
“Do we just spin this thing?” Melina asked as she settled in a teacup with Alexei while Natasha, Y/n, and Yelena went on a different one.
“Please, this is nothing. I’ve been inside a jet spinning in the air as I was plummeting to my death. People who say they get sick from this ride are a bunch of weaklings. Nothing compared to the Red Guardian.” Alexei said as they started spinning.
Curiously, Melina grabbed the wheel in front of her and started spinning it as hard as she could.
“Woah!” Alexei exclaimed as his body was shot to the side from how sudden the spinning was.
“Okay, I was not ready. Do it again, and I will be-” Alexei let out a grunt as he was thrown by the momentum of the spinning into the side of the tea cup.
“Maybe we should slow down and-” Melina didn’t even hear him as she spun harder. The spinning wasn’t that bad, she could barely even feel it. But Alexei seemed to be having a harder time because he was continuously being thrown around the teacup.
Meanwhile,
“Spin! Spin! Spin! Spin!” Yelena and Y/n chanted as they kept spinning the wheel faster and faster, wanting to spin as fast as they could while Natasha was tightly gripping the edges, head resting on her hands with her eyes shut tightly to stop herself from wanting to throw up.
“I hate both of you.” Natasha mumbled as she struggled to walk out without feeling like she was about to fall over. Alexei on the other hand was throwing up in a trash can with Melina rubbing his back in support.
“Alright, what’s next?” Alexei mumbled as he stood back up straight.
“How about meeting the characters? You always wanted to meet Aurora, didn’t you, Yelena? Oh, and Beauty and The Beast was Natasha’s favorite.” Melina said as they started walking around the park and looking at all the attractions.
“You there! You look like a mighty man! Care to challenge the great Gaston to an arm wrestling match to settle who here is the mightiest one in the village?” A man dressed up as Gaston said when he saw the five approach.
“Here we go.” Yelena mumbled when Alexei stopped in his tracks and tilted his head at Gaston.
“You dare challenge me? The Red Guardian, to a test of strengths?” Alexei said in a completely serious tone, but the others guessed the actor just assumed Alexei was playing along based on the grin on his face.
“Come now! Let’s settle this score.” The man said as he walked over to a table and rested his elbow on it, wiggling his fingers to entice Alexei who completely fell for it.
“You are going to eat your words.” Alexei said as he started taking off his jacket, tossing it to Melina who caught it with ease.
“Give me your best.” Gaston said in a confident tone, keeping up with his character.
But this only edged Alexei on as he grabbed ahold of Gaston’s hand.
“Three… Two… One!” Gaston said, putting half his strength into the match.
But almost in an instant, Alexei had the back of his hand pushed down dangerously close to the table. Realizing that Alexei was serious, Gaston decided to put his entire strength into the match, only for Alexei’s hand to barely budge ever so slightly.
“You think you can defeat me? You couldn’t even take down a defenseless deformed beast with an entire army behind you!” Alexei bragged as he continued pushing. Gaston’s eyes widened as she continued trying to push against Alexei’s hand, but Alexei easily pinned his hand down on the table.
“I am the winner! As expected of the Red Guardian!” Alexei cheered as he got up and Gaston chuckled in response, though it was a bit weak compared to his tone earlier.
“How about you, mademoiselle? Care to take on the challenge?” Gaston said after clearing his throat, trying to regain his honor by taking on someone he was confident he could beat.
“This should be fun.” Melina said as she went over to take Alexei’s place in the seat.
“Are you ready, madame? Do not fret, I shall make it easier for you.” Gaston said and Melina frowned, tilting her head in confusion.
“Why would you do that? I want a fair match.” Melina said and the Gaston chuckled but decided to indulge her.
“Alright then. Ready? Go!” Gaston said, putting all his might in pushing Melina’s hand down, expecting this to be easy.
But Melina didn’t move at all. Her arm remained completely still as Gaston grunted and groaned, trying his best to push it down.
“You are straining, don’t hurt yourself.” Melina said to Gaston who resorted using both his hands to try and push Melina’s hand even an inch to the left.
“Well, that’s not fair.” Melina said before easily slamming Gaston’s hand down on the table.
“Natasha, you should try! It’s very fun, you might enjoy it.” Melina said to Natasha who had an amused look on her face.
“You know what? Sure. I could use the ego boost.” Natasha said as she walked up to the Gaston who was looking at his arm in confusion, wondering if there was something wrong with it.
“Ah! A new contender! I guess we’re taking on the entire family now.” Gaston said, mumbling the last part before putting on the best smile he could and resting his arm back onto the table.
“Let’s just get this over with.” Natasha said once she grabbed a hold of his hand, putting as much pressure as she could to get the guy’s hand down.
But Gaston was getting a bit frustrated and he was putting extra effort to keep his hand up after the embarrassment he went through with the last two. But Natasha was still winning as slowly but surely, she was pushing the guy’s hand to the right.
She tilted her head at the man and gave him the most intimidating stare she could. Gaston started sweating, trying best to avoid eye contact, but Natasha’s glare kept dragging him in. Unable to take it anymore, Gaston let his arm fall and Natasha smirked, getting up proudly.
“Maybe you should start eating six dozen eggs, then try again.” Natasha said as she slipped out of the chair, Yelena immediately taking her place.
“Oh. Great, another one.” Gaston said a bit tiredly as he watched Yelena place her arm on the table with an excited look on her face.
“Alright then.” Gaston said with a huff, reluctantly linking hands with Yelena.
“Go!” Yelena said the moment Gaston's hand was in hers, pushing his hand down with all the force she could muster but Gaston gripped the table and glared down at the blonde in front of him, veins protruding from his neck as he really put his all in this one.
Yelena’s eyes widened in delight as she gripped Gaston’s hand tighter. The man groaned at the grip, his free hand tapping the table in pain as Yelena slammed his hand down on the table.
“That was so fun!” Yelena said as she went back to her family.
“Y/n, you should give it a go.” Natasha said, nudging Y/n who raised her eyebrow at the Gaston actor.
“Uh, no thanks. I think he’s had his fill of embarrassment.” Y/n said, catching the actor’s attention.
“Oh, so you are backing down from the challenge? As expected from a puny little town’s girl!” He said, trying his best to maintain the small amount of dignity he had left as he stepped towards Y/n, his six foot frame towering over her five foot-two frame.
“I just changed my mind. Get your butt on that chair, buddy.” Y/n said as she pulled her sleeve up and walked back over to the table.
“I’ll make sure to try and not to hurt you, little girl.” Gaston said as he sat back down.
“Oh, he is going to break his arm.” Yelena said and Natasha nodded in agreement.
“I was simply taking it easy on the other four, giving them a chance to win so they won’t feel too bad. But don’t worry little girl, I’ll make sure not to hold back.” Gaston said and Y/n rolled her eyes as the two put their arms on the table.
“You ready? Three… Two…”
“One.” Y/n said, slamming the man’s hand down on the table so hard that a dent formed.
“Agh! Jesus!” Gaston groaned and Y/n turned around to see one of the park managers coming up to them.
“Let’s go. Run, run.” Y/n said as she got up and the family quickly ran away.
“Let’s do Splash Mountain!” Yelena cheered, grabbing Melina and Alexei’s arms and dragging them over to the ride.
“You guys go ahead, me and Y/n are just gonna grab some food.” Natasha said as her and Y/n walked around the park to find the food stalls.
Natasha got a churro and Y/n got an ice cream bar. Natasha watched Y/n happily eat her ice cream with a disgusted look on her face.
“Alright, what is it? What do you have against Disney?” Y/n asked when she saw the look on Natasha’s face. It was the same face Natasha made whenever she saw anything Mickey Mouse related.
“I just don’t like Disney. The movies are fine, but there's just something not right with the corporation itself.” Natasha said with a shiver.
“Just enjoy the magic of the place and ignore the corporate monster behind it all.” Y/n said as they walked to Splash Mountain.
“We just bought incredibly overpriced merchandise and food for the Mouse, everything about this screams corporate monster.” Natasha said and Y/n rolled her eyes playfully, about to make a comment when a gasp reached their ears.
Natasha turned around seeing no one, but when she looked down, she saw a little girl staring up at her with wide eyes. Her mouth was agape and in her arms was a tiny Black Widow doll. Natasha smiled softly and crouched down in front of the girl.
“Hey, kid. I’m here on a top secret mission, so I can’t have anyone else finding out I’m here. Why don’t we keep me being here between us?” Natasha said and a big grin grew on the girl’s face as she eagerly nodded in response.
“Great. I’ll remember this for years to come; how the little girl in the cute yellow dress saved me from failing my mission.” Natasha said, ruffling the girl’s hair and the girl giggled before running off.
“See? This place isn’t so bad.” Y/n said and Natasha shook her head in amusement as she stood up.
"Hey, are you Mulan?"
"That's enough, let's get back." Natasha muttered as she grabbed Y/n's arm and dragged her over to Splash Mountain.
“Natasha! Y/n! Over here!” Melina shouted from their spot in line, the three waving at the two who made their way through the line.
“Hey, you can’t do that!” A man in the line shouted when Natasha and Y/n cut in line.
“What did you say, tiny man?” Alexei said as he towered over the man who spoke up. Seeing the size of Alexei, the man faltered for a second but he kept his composure and glared at him.
“Tell your daughter or whatever that she’s going to have to wait in line just like everybody else.” The guy looked to everyone else, waiting for them to agree, but they were all staring at the size of Alexei and decided they were good.
“You think you can speak to my family like that?” Alexei asked with a tilted head as he stepped up to the man, so close that his chest was almost hitting his nose.
“Oh, give the boy a break, Alexei. Here, let me talk to him like a civilized person.” Melina said, pushing past Alexei and facing the boy with a smile on her face.
“Hi, my name is Melina. What’s your name?” She asked and the boy narrowed his eyes in suspicion.
“Bob.” The boy answered and Melina smiled once more, grabbing the boy’s hands.
“Bob, I have a gun in my purse.” Melina said in a soft tone, only loud enough for Bob to hear and the man's eyes widened.
“Here, see?” Melina said, letting go of the boy’s hands and zipping open her purse and showing the inside to Bob whose eyes widened at the sight of a handgun. Melina managed to slip it past security.
“Now, you might be wondering why I’m telling this to you, right?” Melina asked with an innocent look on her face and the boy was frozen where he stood, eyes wide in fear, but he still managed to nod.
“Because nobody would believe you if you told them. Now, let me tell you this one last thing.” Melina said before leaning forward so her mouth was right next to Bob’s ear.
“Do not speak to my family like that ever again, or else you will never see yours.” Melina said and she looked down to see a small wet patch appear on Bob’s pants.
She leaned back and gave the boy a bright smile and he quickly ran out of the line.
“Well, that’s settled.” Melina said happily as she turned back to everyone who looked incredibly impressed.
“That was probably the greatest thing you’ve ever done.” Yelena said and Alexei wrapped his arm around Melina’s waist.
“Maybe we should find a more private place so I can show you how amazing I thought that was.” He said in a sultry tone which made Melina smile.
“Nope. I don’t want to see that. Maybe use that gun on me, that sounds incredibly fun.” Natasha said and Yelena mimicked gagging noises.
It didn’t take much longer until they got to the ride.
“I take the front!” Alexei said, beating Yelena to sitting in the front which made her upset, but she settled with sitting behind him. Melina sat behind Yelena, then Natasha, then Y/n.
“What is this? Where’s the drop? I thought this was supposed to be an exciting ride, this is so boring!” Alexei complained when he realized that the ride wasn't really a rollercoaster.
“Are you having fun?” Y/n asked, leaning forward and resting her chin on Natasha's shoulder. The woman let out a hum in response while looking at her surroundings.
“I guess there are worse ways to spend my day off.” Natasha said and Y/n playfully rolled her eyes.
“What a complicated way to say yes.” Y/n teased and Natasha sent the woman an amused smile.
“Alright, so it wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be.” Natasha said with a shrug and Y/n let out a giggle.
“You could just say you’re having fun.” Y/n said and Natasha gave her a smirk.
“Now why would I say that?” Natasha said and Y/n shook her head in amusement leaning back into her seat.
“Oh! Here it is! Here it comes!” Yelena cheered when the boat was starting to climb up.
“Is there still time to get out? Can someone stop the ride? I can get off here and walk the rest of the way.” Alexei said, starting to panic when they reached closer to the top.
When the boat reached its peak and started falling down the tall incline, screams and cheers filled the air and for a moment, all they could see was white due to their picture being taken.
Alexei was gripping the sides of the boat, mouth and eyes wide opened in fear, Yelena had her hands up and a bright smile on her face, Melina had seen the camera and was calmly smiling at it with a peace sign, Y/n was covering her face because she was splashed with most of the water, while Nat had her arms crossed but a big smile on her face as she looked at her family.
Taking a break from writing, don't know when I'll be back. I'll still update the Avengers Housekeeper fic, cause a lot of those chapters were written all the way back in March.
This next part is a rant.
These past few months on tumblr have made me feel like I have an obligation to write because people want to see more and are expecting more stories. It's gotten to the point where if I'm not writing every second of the damn day and making a new story for people to read and enjoy, I'm disappointing the people who like my work.
And honestly, I'm tired of that.
School just ended for me, and I want to catch up on a bunch of shows, movies, and play Stardew Valley for 200 hours. I can't do that if I feel guilty about wasting every minute not writing. Writing stopped being fun cause it suddenly became about making sure people who read my stories were happy with the work I was putting out.
I am not a positive affirmation type of person. All these people telling me they love my work, that shit's scary man. Words of affirmation is absolutely not my love language. Cause now there's that expectation that I have to write something people will love just as much as the last, if not more. The amount of pressure I suddenly got to write, like what the hell? I'm not getting paid for this, why am I stressing over this and letting it take over my mental health so much?

Y/n hummed along to the music she was playing on her phone as she put on the face mask that May gifted her the last time she saw her. The rest of the house was incredibly silent and Y/n was making the most of it.
She had spent the entire day doing a whole load of chores, and normally she wouldn’t mind. But the Avengers decided to be especially messy today, so after getting tired of cleaning one room, cleaning the other, and going back to see that the room she just cleaned was messed up again, she had kicked them out of the compound so she could get things done in peace.
Now, she was done and the others weren’t set to come back for around two or three more hours like she asked, and Y/n had the house for herself. So, she decided to take some time to relax and have some leisure time.
She was wearing one of those huge, puffy, and soft robes that were so long that they hit the floor. She was also doing some skin care even though she didn’t actually know what she was doing, she just wanted to wear the mask cause it felt fun.
Once she was done, Y/n suddenly felt the urge to drink some alcohol. But not any hard liquor. She was feeling classy today because of how productive she had been. There was always champagne in the house somewhere, and she might even cook herself a nice meal.
No, scratch that. She had done chores all day, she wasn’t going to ruin her leisure by cooking. She was gonna order shitty fast food instead. Y/n had put a ban on any fast food in the compound because Tony and the Twins kept ordering burgers and it wasn’t good for them.
But the rules didn’t apply to Y/n, and what nobody knew wouldn’t hurt them. Y/n grinned to herself in the mirror and grabbed her phone, pausing the music and pulling up the McDonald’s app. She walked out of her bathroom and made her way out into the living room, still humming the tune that was now stuck in her head.
“Ooh, nuggets.” Y/n said to herself as she walked into the kitchen and took out one of the wine glasses before looking through the bar and deciding what she wanted to drink. She gasped loudly and grinned at the bottle in front of her.
“I’m sure Tony wouldn’t mind me drinking this five hundred dollar bottle of Rosé all for myself, right?” Y/n mumbled as she took off the wax and started taking off the cork.
She was struggling a bit. Y/n turned around and tried pressing the cork against the counter. Sudden movement caught her eyes, and she looked up to see three figures sitting in the living room watching her.
“Oh my god!” Y/n yelped in shock just as the cork popped off, causing the champagne to explode and shoot out.
Y/n stood in shock as she looked back to the living room to see Peter, Ned, and MJ watching her with confused looks on their faces.
“Do you normally talk to yourself while you’re alone?” MJ asked casually and Y/n let out a huff, placing the bottle on the counter before resting her hands on her hips, sending a narrowed look to the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
“Peter, what the hell are you doing here?” Y/n asked. How did she not hear them come in, and why didn’t Friday inform her?
“It’s Wednesday. I told you a week ago that me and my friends were coming here for a study group because we couldn’t hang out at mine.” Peter said and Y/n paused before grabbing her phone and checking the date, letting out a sigh once she realized the boy was right.
“Oh, Peter, I’m so sorry, I forgot. It completely left my mind.” Y/n apologized.
“No, no, no, it’s totally okay. We can leave if you’re busy and-” Peter said as he started packing his things.
“No, it’s fine. I wasn’t doing anything anyway, you guys can stay for as long as you want to.” Y/n said and Peter stopped what he was doing.
“Are you sure?” He asked and Y/n smiled at the boy.
“Yeah, of course. I was about to order some McDonald’s, do you guys want anything?” Y/n asked, pulling up the McDonald’s app once more as she leaned against the counter.
“Oh, it’s fine, Y/n. We just ate and-”
“Could I get a Big Mac and large fries? Oh, and a sundae too.” MJ spoke up, cutting off Peter.
“Sure thing! Ned, do you want anything?” Y/n asked and Peter let out a sigh once he realized he was ignored.
“I’ll just have some nuggets and a chocolate shake. I’m already a bit full because I already ate before coming here.” Ned said and Y/n nodded.
“Peter?” She asked, raising her head to look at the boy who looked between Y/n and his friends before shrugging.
“I’ll have a double quarter pounder with cheese and a large diet coke.” Peter said as he sat back down.
“Ooh, I’ll get the same as you.” Y/n said as she put the order in, setting it to Tony’s card before laying her phone back down on the counter.
“I like your outfit by the way, Y/n.” Ned said and Y/n sent the boy a smile.
“Thank you, Ned. I worked really hard on it.” Y/n said, giving them a twirl as the bottom of the robe flared up a bit.
“You look relaxed.” MJ said and the three watched as Y/n grabbed the bottle of champagne and her wine glass (Tony would say she was being a disgrace which was even more of a reason for Y/n to do it), making her way over to the other side of the couch.
“I was going to spend the next few hours getting some well needed r&r before everyone came back, but I don’t mind the company.” Y/n said as she poured herself some Rosé before leaning back, raising her legs so they could rest on the table.
“Can I have a sip of that?” MJ asked as she watched Y/n drink.
“Sure, but don’t go too crazy. Wouldn’t want your parents blaming me for getting a bunch of teenagers drunk.” Y/n said as she handed the glass to MJ who took a sip. She seemed pleased, taking another one before returning the glass to Y/n.
“So, what are you guys studying?” Y/n asked as she leaned back against the couch.
“Oh we’re studying chemical compounds for a test coming up next week. It’s basically all about how-” And that’s when Y/n tuned out whatever Peter was saying.
“I don’t think she’s listening anymore.” MJ spoke up after Peter continued for two minutes.
“You lost me a chemical.” Y/n admitted honestly before letting out a groan.
“God, that reminded me of Dr. Kepler. Not a fun man, slowest talker I know.” Y/n said with an eye roll as she took another sip of her rosé.
“Who’s Dr. Kepler?” Peter asked and Y/n let out a huff in response.
“This creepy old scientist dude I used to work with when I was still in HYDRA. He’d supply me with these bombs and serums and stuff whenever I went out on mission and he would debrief me for hours and hours about how I should be careful with them. He had this nasally ass voice and he would not stop getting on my ass about how I was misusing his creations and stuff.” Y/n said, remembering all those times she had to sit and listen to that man talk about every single thing that went into making his serums, and not a single time did she listen.
“You used to work at HYDRA? Isn’t that, like, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s arch nemesis or something?” MJ asked with furrowed eyebrows.
“Y/n used to be one of the best agents in HYDRA and she went undercover as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and Avenger, but she was really trying to get information and stuff that HYDRA could use against them. But after becoming friends with everyone, she realized what she was doing wrong and helped them snuff out all the HYDRA agents pretending to be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.” Peter explained happily, recalling the time Y/n told her the same story.
“That’s so cool! You got a whole redemption arc!” Ned said excitedly and Y/n shrugged nonchalantly, but she had a smug smile on her face.
“What can I say, I work better with the good guys.” She said, playfully brushing her shoulder and taking a sip from her rosé.
“As a housekeeper?” MJ asked with a raised eyebrow and Y/n scoffed.
“I’m telling you, kid, the Avengers can kick ass all they want and be the greatest heroes in the world, but without me, they wouldn’t last a day in this compound. You know how messy it gets in here when they’re left alone? Absolute chaos, and cleaning this entire compound after a party is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and I’ve seen some shit.” Y/n said and MJ smiled at Y/n, greatly impressed with her.
“Can you tell us some more stories about your time in HYDRA?” Peter asked with an eager look on his face.
“Aren’t you three supposed to be studying?” Y/n asked with a smile on her face, gesturing to all the books and notebooks they had laid out on the table.
“Yeah, but we can do that any day. Listening to you is way cooler.” Ned said, an equally excited look on her face. Y/n couldn’t help but feel incredibly flattered at this, grinning at the three in front of her and shifting in her seat.
“So there I was, trapped in a locked metal box that was sinking all the way to the bottom of the ocean, about to do some Houdini shit to keep myself alive.” Y/n started and the three shifted closer to hear Y/n’s story better.
The three of them spent the next few minutes listening to Y/n’s stories, raising their hands whenever they had questions which Y/n gladly answered. When the food arrived, they all ate and continued to tell stories and just hung out like any regular group of friends.
“Alert. Unauthorized guests are making their way into the premises.” Friday suddenly said and the four of them froze where they were after processing the information.
“Friday, where are they and how many are they?” Y/n asked as she quickly got up.
“There are two of them, and they are currently entering from Ms. Romanoff’s balcony.” Y/n’s eyes hardened as she turned to the three.
“Peter, get Ned and MJ somewhere safe, I’ll handle it. I’ll call you if things go wrong.” Y/n said and Peter nodded, urging the other two to stand.
“Should I call Mr. Stark?” Tony asked and Y/n shook her head.
“There’s only two of them, so we should be fine. I wasn’t HYDRA’s best for nothing, after all.” Y/n said, giving the three of them a reassuring smile.
“Can we watch you fight?” Ned asked with bright eyes.
“As much as I’d love to show off my skills, I’m not risking you guys getting hurt. Now go on, I’ll take care of it.” Y/n said.
The three didn’t wait another second longer as they left the room. Y/n took a deep breath and downed the rest of her Rosé before carefully making her way over to Nat’s room.
She stopped in her tracks when she heard two voices approaching from around the corner. Y/n pressed herself back against the wall and carefully listened to the sound of them speaking. Right when they made the corner, Y/n stepped out and attempted to elbow one of them in the face.
“They always have a full bar, it’ll be fun, I- Woah!” Y/n felt her elbow be pushed off and Y/n used that momentum to spin and kick at the intruder, but they stepped away and grabbed her leg.
Y/n felt someone grab her shoulders and she quickly twisted her leg out of its hold before turning around and shoving the person behind her against the wall. She reeled her fist back, about to sock whoever the person was, but her eyes widened when she saw the face in front of her.
“Kate?” Y/n asked in confusion and Kate opened her eyes, letting out a sigh of relief when she realized they weren’t really getting attacked.
“Oh, look out!” Kate exclaimed, grabbing Y/n’s shoulder and pushing her down, ducking in time as the other person aimed a punch at the back of Y/n’s head, but their fist met the wall.
“Yelena?” Y/n asked once she saw the blonde hair above her, standing up so she was face to face with her.
“Y/n?” Yelena asked in shock before furrowing her eyebrows and looking the woman up and down.
“What are you wearing?” She asked, touching the soft fabric of Y/n’s robe.
“It’s my leisure suit.” Y/n answered and Yelena nodded her head with an impressed look on her face.
“It’s really soft, where did you buy it? I want one.” Yelena said, continuing to run her hands up and down the material.
“Oh, I have tons of them in my closet. I got this one as a gift, but I wanted more in different colors. You could borrow one if you’d like.” Y/n said and Yelena opened her mouth to answer, but was cut off by Kate.
“Sorry to interrupt, but what the hell? Why did you just attack us like that?” Kate asked in an exasperated tone.
“I thought you guys were intruders! Why were you guys sneaking through Nat’s balcony instead of taking the front door like normal people!” Y/n retorted.
“My sister told us that everyone was out, we assumed the door would be locked and we don’t have a key. We told Friday we were friendly.” Yelena said as if the answer was obvious.
“Friday, why didn’t you tell me the “unauthorized guests” were just Yelena and Kate this whole time?” Y/n asked while looking up.
“I was told by Yelena not to inform any of the Avengers of her arrival, but I thought it would be appropriate to tell you that someone else had entered the compound.” Friday answered and Y/n let out a sigh.
“It was supposed to be a surprise.” Yelena said and only now did it process in Y/n’s head that Yelena and Kate were in the compound.
“Oh my god, I’ve missed you two so much!” Y/n said, pulling Yelena into a quick hug before pulling away and doing the same for Kate.
“It was only really supposed to be Yelena, but she dragged me out here to join her at the last minute.” Kate said sheepishly and Yelena let out a scoff.
“Always such a party pooper, Kate Bishop. We were supposed to just get drunk while waiting for everyone to come back, but apparently you’re here, so the three of us can get drunk together!” Yelena said while raising her arms up in excitement.
“Oh, I’d love to, but Peter and his friends are here.” Y/n said and Yelena let out a scoff.
“The more the merrier! They can get drunk with us.” Yelena said as she started walking to the main area.
“Yelena, they’re minors. We can’t get them drunk, that’s irresponsible.” Kate said and Yelena rolled her eyes.
“Are you trying to tell me you never drank alcohol before you turned eighteen?” Yelena asked.
“No, and I didn’t drink until I was twenty-one because the age limit here is different from where you’re from.” Kate said.
“Boo, you’re so boring. I had my first drink when I was fourteen.” Yelena said and Kate gaped at the blonde woman before turning to Y/n who shrugged at her reaction.
“I had my first drink when I was sixteen.” Y/n said before walking forward.
“Peter, come out, it’s safe!” Y/n called out once they made it back into the living room and Peter quickly stepped out of the broom closet with Ned and MJ, each of them wielding a broom in their hands as a makeshift weapon.
“Hey, spider.” Yelena said with a lazy wave as she jumped over the couch and rested her legs on the table after landing.
“Oh, Ms. Romanoff!” Peter said with a sigh of relief as he put the broom back into the closet.
“Kate’s here too.” Y/n said as she went over to the cabinet and took out two more wine glasses for Kate and Yelena.
“Hi, Peter.” Kate greeted as she went around the couch and sat next to Yelena.
“Nice to see you, Kate! Uh, these are my friends, Ned and MJ. Guys, that’s Yelena, Black Widow’s sister, and Kate, Hawkeye’s protégé.” Peter introduced as the three stepped back to their original seats.
“Oh, what, you ate McDonald’s without us?” Yelena complained when she saw all the wrappers on the table.
“If I had known you guys were coming, I would’ve ordered more food.” Y/n said as she set the glasses on the table while Kate pulled out her phone.
“What do you want, I’ll order for us.” Kate said, showing Yelena her phone and the woman hummed in thought.
“Get me the biggest burger they have. Oh, I also want one of those leisure suits of yours and whatever is on your face.” Yelena said and Y/n nodded.
“Sure thing. Do you guys want one of these robes and facemasks too? I probably have enough for everyone.” Y/n said, knowing full well she had more than enough, but they didn’t need to know that.
“Oh, I want a red one!” Peter said, raising his arm.
“I’ll take blue!” Ned said, raising his hand as well.
“I’ll take black.” MJ said, raising her hand lazily and Y/n smiled at them before turning to Kate.
“I’ll have a purple one.” She said as she poured herself some of the Rosé on the table.
“What about you, Yelena? Pick a color.” Y/n said and Yelena hummed.
“I want a nice, soft velvet one.” Yelena said and Y/n grinned.
“I’ll be right back.” Y/n said as she went to her room.
It didn’t take that long for Y/n to come back with everything she needed, but to her surprise, the five of them were sitting around the table playing a round of Uno. Y/n guesses Peter was the one who took it from the board game cabinet.
“Parker, I will snap your neck off if you skip my turn one more time.” Yelena threatened the boy who gulped in fear.
“Y/n, we set aside some cards for you so you can join in.” Ned said, pointing to the seven cards laying face down on the table.
“Yelena peeked.” Kate said as she placed her card down causing Yelena to let out a gasp.
“I did not!” She exclaimed.
“She did, we all watched her do it.” MJ said and Y/n rolled her eyes playfully as she started handing out everyone’s robes and face masks.
“So how do we put this on?” Peter asked when he opened the pack, scrunching his face when he pulled out the gooey mask from inside.
“Just peel off the thing and put it on your face. Here, wear this so your hair doesn’t get in the way.” Y/n said, tossing a familiar bunny headband to Peter before tossing a simple headband to Ned.
“Thanks, Y/n.” Ned said and the two boys put the headbands on as they helped each other put their face masks on.
“Oh, how did you do that?” Kate asked as she watched MJ put her hair into a braid.
“Do what?” MJ asked in confusion.
“Your hair. I could never figure out how to do a braid.” Kate said and Yelena whipped her head over to Kate with furrowed eyebrows.
“You don’t know how to do a braid?” She asked in shock and Kate shook her head.
“I was always more of a ponytail girl.” Kate said and Yelena gaped at the girl beside her.
“You can shoot a target better than Cint Barton, but you can’t do a simple braid?” Yelena questioned.
“Well, I wouldn’t say I could shoot better than him, but-”
“It’s a braid, Kate Bishop.” Yelena said.
“Hey, no, it’s fine. Here, I’ll teach you. Y/n, come here, I’ll demonstrate.” MJ said, waving over Y/n who went over to next to MJ before turning around and facing her back towards her.
“Here, watch, You divide her hair into three strands. Hold two in your dominant hand, and one in the other. Let’s call them a, b, and c. You cross c over b, a over c, then b over a. Then you just keep going until you have no hair left to cross over.” MJ said, demonstrating slowly before letting Y/n’s hair drop.
“Yelena, turn around, I want to try and braid your hair.” Kate said to Yelena who was putting her face mask on for her.
“My hair is already in a braid, braid your own hair.” Yelena said as she started putting her own face mask on.
“But it looks so much more complicated when you do it on yourself.” Kate said and Yelena let out a groan.
“Fine.” She said as she turned around, undoing her braid and letting her hair fall.
“Here, Kate, I’ll braid your hair.” Y/n said as she started running her hair through Kate’s hair seeing as she was already seated in front of her.
“Peter, could you put my face mask on for me?” MJ asked as she started braiding Y/n’s hair again, but this time, she did two.
“Sure.” Peter said as he grabbed one of the face masks and carefully put them on his girlfriend’s face.
“Can I braid your hair too?” Peter asked and MJ sent the boy a smile.
“Go for it, but do it properly this time.” MJ said.
“Yes!” Peter cheered as she hopped over and sat behind her, pulling out her unfinished braid and started braiding her hair like she taught him.
“Oh, I want to braid your hair too! I’m gonna make a bunch of mini ones.” Ned said as he went to sit behind Peter, reaching up and starting to braid as well.
“There should be a bunch of hair ties in the box with all the face masks. Just grab one of those if you’re done.” Y/n said and they all started braiding each other’s hair while Yelena told some story about a mission she had just come home from.
Natasha let out a sigh as she made her way up the stairs while grabbing her keys out from her pocket. She had spent the first hour of being kicked out by Y/n by having a drink with everyone else, but eventually she just went driving around the city because she had nothing else to do.
By now, Y/n should be calm enough to not kick anyone out at the first sound of the door opening.
When she made it to the door, she stuck her key inside the keyhole, but was surprised to see that the door had already been unlocked. With a shrug, Natasha walked into the compound and shut the door behind her.
“Y/n?” She called out, placing her keys on the rack before walking into the main area.
She stopped in her tracks when she saw the egregious sight of Y/n, her sister, Kate Bishop, Peter Parker, and his friends all lined up on the couch in long robes and face masks on, braiding each others hair and giggling as they told each other stories,
When they heard Natasha approach from behind them, they all turned to face her at the same time and Natasha would be lying if she said she didn’t almost get chills at the sight.
“I’m not even gonna ask.” She said with a sigh as she walked past them, pretending she didn’t see them in the first place.
Chapter Summary: The team has to leave for a last minute mission on the day of their monthly movie marathon, leaving Y/n alone. So, Y/n decides to have a girls night out with her favorite Avenger instead, but things take a turn and the night ends up bloodier than Y/n intended it to be.

Y/n walked into the living room with a bowl of popcorn in her hands, humming along to get ready for the movie binge she and the rest of the Avengers were supposed to do. It was something they did once every few weeks, sometimes months, to relax and take some proper time off to bond.
But when she walked into the living room, expecting to see everyone in their usual positions wearing pajamas, Y/n was shocked to see that everyone was suiting up in a huge rush.
“What’s going on?” She asked, setting the popcorn on the table.
“There was a sudden HYDRA attack in Milan and they’re going full force on it. It came out of nowhere, we were just informed now.” Natasha said as he rushed to put on his helmet, when Steve barged in.
“Every second we waste, the worse the situation is gonna get, so work faster, people.” The man said, fully in his suit as he stormed out, followed by everyone else who wasn’t rushing.
“We’re sorry we have to cancel today.” Bucky said, holding onto Y/n’s shoulder and Y/n gave him a smile.
“I get it, now go save Milan.” Y/n said, giving the man a quick hug before he ran off.
“We’ll make it up to you next time!” Bruce called out and in the blink of an eye, the compound was empty.
Y/n took a deep breath before grabbing the popcorn and slumping down onto the couch, lazily shoving some into her mouth as she grabbed the remote and turned the tv on.
She spent the next few minutes scrolling through the various streaming services Tony paid for before throwing the remote aside and slumping even further down the couch. She knew this position would make her neck and back hurt, but she didn’t care.
“You seem upset.” The voice of Friday came up in the intercom and Y/n let out a sigh.
“No, no. Being upset that my superhero friends are doing their job and saving people from being killed instead of watching dumb movies with their house keeper would be selfish. I’m not upset.” Y/n said as she shifted into a position that wouldn’t hurt her body.
“If you are worried, rest assured that the Avengers will stop this threat in no time and come back safe and sound.” Friday spoke and Y/n smiled weakly up at the ceiling, wondering if Friday could see it.
“I don’t have a doubt in my mind that they’ll come back safe, they’re the most capable group of people I’ve ever met. I just…” Y/n let out a sigh, sitting up and grabbing one of the throw pillows and hugging it tightly against her chest.
“It’s very rare that we’re all present to spend time together. Of course everyone can’t share the same day off because at least three Avengers have to be working to keep the world intact. In the few moments where nobody is working, a lot of them want to rest or spend some time with themselves and have a life outside of the Avengers, which I absolutely understand.” Y/n started, not needing a response from the AI to know that she was listening.
“But my life is the Avengers. They’re the people who gave me a real life to begin with, and I’d like to spend time with the people who got me here. It’s a lot to ask though, I understand. Worldly troubles aren’t going to pause just because I want to spend time with everyone. I would never ask them to put their work on hold to make me feel better because that’s not something I want. I guess I’m just upset that I don’t get to spend as much time with them as I would like.” Y/n said with a frown on her face.
“Have you ever considered making connections outside the Avengers? Maybe it will help.” Friday suggested and Y/n let out a snort.
“No. Not happening. Friday, I am a recluse and I’ve never interacted with anyone outside of the people I already know now, and you know how hard it is for me to get used to new people.” Y/n explained.
“That is factually incorrect as you make trips outside for basic necessities, meaning you’ve spoken to various store clerks.” Friday said and Y/n let out a groan.
“That’s different. I’m basically forced to talk to those people or else I can’t get what I need.” Y/n retorted.
“I suggest starting there. Online sources say that creating small talk with the people you see everyday can help build connections and relationships.” Friday said and Y/n rolled her eyes.
“I don’t need any more connections or relationships, I have plenty here.” Y/n said, raising her arms out, only to realize that she was alone. She lowered her arms and hugged the pillow tight against her chest again.
“Well, I have you, at least.” Y/n said.
“It is a pleasure to be here for you, Ms. Y/n.” A small smile made its way on Y/n’s face at the words.
“You know what? Who needs them when I have you, Friday? We’re having a girls night out! Well, day, I guess, but it’ll last all the way until night, just you and me!” Y/n said, regaining some energy as she sat up with a determined look on her face.
“I am not sure how that would work seeing as I do not have a physical form.” Friday commented and Y/n rolled her eyes playfully.
“We don’t need any of that to have fun. We’ll find our own way.” Y/n said with a big smile on her face, trying to make the most out of the situation.
“What do people usually do on a girls night out? I don’t know, Nat and Wanda aren’t really the super girly types.” Y/n asked after realizing she didn’t know what to do.
“Looking up girls night out.” Friday asked and the tv switched from a streaming platform to a web browser with the words “girls night out” written in the search bar.
“Oh, I didn’t realize girl’s night out meant literally going out. I thought that was just a figure of expression. Well, it’s a girls night in then!” Y/n said as Friday continued to scroll down.
“Go to images, I don’t have the energy to read right now.” Y/n said and Friday was quick to move to the images tab.
“That is a lot of alcohol. I imagine you can’t really drink, Friday?” Y/n asked.
“I’m afraid not, no.” The AI answered and Y/n shrugged in response.
“It’s all just women drinking alcohol. How sad are these girls?” Y/n asked with a scrunched up face.
“I could look up articles on what other activities women might do on a girls night in and read them out for you if you’d like?” Friday asked and Y/n nodded, leaning back on the couch.
“Please do.” She said and the screen quickly changed.
“Group cooking class. You enjoy cooking, don’t you, Ms. Y/n?” Friday asked and Y/n let out a hum in response.
“I do, but you can’t eat and I’m not feeling hungry right now.” Y/n said and Friday continued scrolling down.
“Tips and Tricks To Create Mood and Ambiance at Your House.” Friday read out.
“Ooh, that might be fun. Wanna do some decorating, Friday? You could help me come up with some ideas.” Y/n said.
“Looking up party decorations.” Friday said as the screen changed once more.
“Oh, go to the Pinterest thing. Pepper told us about how great it is to find inspiration for decorating.” Y/n said, pointing at the link when it came up. Pinterest loaded for a moment before it filled the screen and Y/n let out a gasp of excitement.
“Oh my god, those are all so pretty!” Y/n said, getting up from the couch and sitting on the floor directly in front of the tv like a small child watching their favorite cartoon.
“They’re so nice! Friday I want to make those! Oh, wait, but it’s only the two of us, it may be too extravagant.” Y/n said, though she continued to gaze excitedly at the photos, eyes wide and mouth agape as Friday continued to scroll.
“We could set up a surprise for the team when they come back from their mission.” Friday suggested and Y/n gasped once more.
“Friday, you’re a genius! I’m going to pick out a few photos and order whatever is on there so we can recreate them. Make sure they’re priority deliveries too, I want them here asap so we can get started.” Y/n said and Friday agreed, the two spending the next few minutes choosing out some decorations before Friday put in the order, putting the payment on Tony’s card.
“Alright, Friday, what should we start with first?” Y/n asked once everything they ordered was laid out on the living room floor, hands on her waist as she looked back at the tv screen where her reference photos were.
“After performing the necessary calculations, I have determined that blowing up the balloons will take the longest, so it is best to start with that.” Friday spoke and Y/n grinned as she took the pack of pink, white, and silver balloons and the helium tank.
“Alright, let’s get started.”
It took awhile with Friday helping Y/n learn how to tie a balloon and use the helium tank. There were a lot of fallen balloons that Y/n had to say goodbye to, but she got the hang of it quickly. She was always praised for being a fast learner.
Music was playing loudly in the background from the speakers, a bottle of champagne was opened that Y/n had been drinking bits of throughout the day. A little day drinking alone indoors wouldn’t hurt anyone, right?
“I, and various medical professionals, would not recommend doing that, Ms. Y/n.” Friday spoke when she saw Y/n put her mouth on the pump of the helium tank.
“Oh, come on, Friday. What’s it gonna do, kill me?” Y/n asked as she put her mouth on it once more.
“Yes. Though breathing the helium from the balloon is much safer and will get the same desired effect.” Friday spoke, causing Y/n to pull away and furrowed her eyebrows.
“Oh. Guess I’ll just do that then.” Y/n said with a shrug as she filled a balloon with helium before sucking it out.
“Did my voice change? Oh my god, I sound like one of those singing chipmunk things!” Y/n said, laughing in wonder as she sucked in some more.
“Friday, raise the pitch of your voice so it’s like we’re both on helium together!” Y/n said.
“Raising pitch now. Is this satisfactory?” Friday asked, her voice getting higher and higher as she talked until she matched Y/n’s pitch.
“Yes! This is the best girls night in ever!” Y/n cheered with a laugh.
After a while, Y/n took a step back to admire her work. She had filled around six of the giant balloons with helium, confetti, and fairy lights inside. Getting them in was a challenge, but if those women on Tiktok could do it, then damn it, so could she.
They were tied down by these long ribbons that were attached by these cement blocks Y/n got outside but bedazzled with glitter and such. She was planning on putting them outside by the field. Seeing as they couldn’t do a complete movie binge, she didn’t see why they still couldn’t watch a couple movies.
So she wanted to do an outdoor theater with a huge projector with lights and balloons and stuff.
She had also gotten carried away and made these little light up jars with the empty mason jars they had in the pantry. Each one was designed specifically for each member. Then she also made some snacks for everyone to eat while they were watching movies.
And by snacks, she means an entire cheese board with slices of meat intricately laid out into shapes and such with a bunch of little napkins folded into nice origami looking designs. Needless to say, Y/n got really excited.
“Oh! We have extra fairy lights, maybe we should set those up outside as well! I think Steve still has that old outdoor tent in his room from when we went camping that one time. I’m gonna get it real quick!” Y/n said as she got up and ran to Steve’s room.
While she was away, Friday stayed silent until a ringing sound rang through her system. It was a call from Tony. Actually, it was the thirteenth call from Tony in the last two hours. Friday has never missed a call in her life, but perhaps she had gotten carried away as well.
“Mr. Stark.” Friday answered and was instantly met with the sound of gunshots, grunts, screams, and explosions.
“Friday, I have been trying to contact you for hours now! Is there something wrong with your system or something? God!” Tony asked angrily.
“Apologies, Mr. Stark. I have been accompanying Y/n-”
“Nevermind that! Listen, the whole Milan attack was a ruse. They lead us out here to get the compound empty and infiltrate it. They’ve been keeping us in this facility for god knows how long now, but a bunch of HYDRA Agents are coming your way right now. They don’t know Y/n is there, so be prepared for a fight. Y/n can handle her own fine, but keep her as safe as best as you possibly can.” Tony said in a serious tone as another round of gunshots could be heard in the background.
“I have to go. We’re close to wrapping this thing up, just make sure Y/n’s safe until we come back.” Tony said before the call ended.
“Y/n.” Friday called out to Steve’s room, knowing that the familiar urgency in Tony’s voice meant that there would be no delay informing Y/n of the information she had just received.
“I found it!” Y/n shouted, running back to the living room and carrying the box where the tent was in her hands.
Just as she arrived, the door was bust open and around five HYDRA Agents stormed the room, all armed and ready to go against anybody who posed a threat to their operation.
“Someone’s here!”
“This place was supposed to be empty!”
“Open fire!”
Y/n’s eyes widened and she quickly ducked and crawled behind the counter of the kitchen. Shots fired throughout the compound and Y/n looked up when she saw some of the mason jars she had made for the team got hit by bullets and shattered into pieces.
“Friday? Cut the lights.” Y/n mumbled, knowing that Friday would be able to hear her, and hear her she did.
In an instant, all the lights shut off and the entire room filled with darkness. Y/n moved quietly but quickly on her feet, swiftly evading the HYDRA agents like a leaf floating through the wind.
She had worked incredibly hard on those mason jars, and she’ll be damned if she let them get away with destroying her work. Grabbing one of the balloons by the ribbon with a tight grip in both hands, Y/n wrapped it around one of the agents’ necks and pulled back as hard as she could, causing the man to drop his gun and reach up to try and pull the woman off of him.
The noise caught the attention of the other agents, and Y/n quickly ducked her head behind the back of the agent she was holding. The bullet proof vest that the agent was wearing protected her from being shot, but the blood splattering on Y/n’s back told her that the agent she was using as a meat shield wasn’t as lucky as she was.
Y/n tossed his limp body to the side, grabbed the gun they were holding onto, and quickly moved around the agents who were still trying to find her. Wow, HYDRA really downgraded with their agents since she left, huh? She almost felt bad for them.
As she was thinking, Y/n had accidentally stumbled, causing a bit of noise. Okay, so maybe she was a bit rusty. But she immediately ducked to the ground as shots were fired and her eyes widened when she heard the sound of various balloons popping.
Yeah, fuck feeling bad for them. None of them were coming out alive after this.
“Friday! Lights on!” Y/n shouted as she got herself up, not caring if she was giving away her position to seven armed agents who could shoot her down within a second. They should know who they were messing with, because it would make their demise all the more satisfying.
“I-It’s her!” One of the agents shouted in fear once their eyes adjusted to the light.
“I thought she was dead!” Another shouted and they all started backing away with wide scared eyes and shaking hands.
Y/n didn’t hesitate to take this opportunity and shoot one of the agents that was armed in the head, instantly making them fall to the ground, unmoving.
One of the agents turned to the fallen one with shock, not noticing that Y/n was approaching them with fire in her eyes. Once they looked back and saw Y/n only a few feet away, they quickly raised their gun to fire, but Y/n was faster.
She grabbed their wrists and raised it up, causing them to waste their bullets on the ceiling. Y/n raised her foot and kicked the agent right in the stomach before pouncing on them, slamming the gun down repeatedly on their face, not stopping until it was entirely covered in red.
Arms grabbed her shoulders and pulled her off, roughly shoving her onto the counter before slamming her head down and dragging her head across it and throwing it aside. All Y/n could taste was cheese and blood, and the sound of something clattering and falling to the ground made her heart pound in her ears.
Y/n screamed in anger at the sight of her charcuterie board on the ground and she grabbed the champagne sitting on the table next to her, smashing it onto the table’s edge and threatening the agent with it as she approached.
“Y/n, duck.” Friday spoke and Y/n was quick to do so, turning around and stabbing the champagne bottle into the person, but grunted in anger when she was met with protection.
“Left.” Y/n swerved to the left like Friday said and elbowed the agent in the head.
“Duck again.” Y/n ducked, causing the agent behind her to hit the agent she just elbowed and Y/n stepped to the side before grabbing the back of the heads of the two agents and smashing them together as hard as she could. She swore she heard a crack.
“Right step.” Y/n stepped to the right when one of the agents recovered and took a swing at her, effectively dodging their attack.
Y/n stepped back into the kitchen as the agent walked towards her. Hearing footsteps behind her, Y/n glanced in the direction to see that she was now cornered behind the counter by these two goons.
Forgetting that the music was playing, Y/n perked up when the sound of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston started suddenly playing from the speakers.
“Shit, I love this song.” Y/n muttered before surging forward and aiming her fist at the agent. Though it was a simple faint as when the agent ducked to avoid it, she raised her other fist and had it go straight up the agent’s jaw.
“Duck.” Friday said and Y/n did before her hand shot up and grabbed the agent’s wrist, twisting it and pulling it behind them before grabbing the back of their head and pushing it down onto the stove.
“Friday, on, please!” Y/n shouted.
“Turning the stove on high heat.” Friday spoke and the agent suddenly started screaming as they felt the side of their face start to burn.
Y/n grunted when she felt someone smash something on the back of her head and she looked down to see remnants of a mason jar that was painted red.
“That was for Wanda, you son of a bitch!” Y/n shouted, pulling the agent she was holding back then throwing them to their partner. Y/n didn’t give them time as she hopped over the counter and grabbed one of the handguns on the ground.
She went back over to the two and roughly stepped on the back of the agent before aiming the gun at their head and shooting them. The bullet went through the back of their head, going straight to the other one’s as well.
When everything fell silent, Y/n took the time to catch her breath before letting out a groan, hand falling to her lower back as she sank to the floor.
“I’m getting too old for this shit.” She mumbled as she looked around her. Ignoring all the bodies on the ground, Y/n focused on the things that really mattered.
The balloons were popped, the confetti was all over the ground, all the mason jars she had made were broken into pieces, the charcuterie board with all of Tony’s expensive cheese and meats were on the ground with blood on them. Everything was ruined.
“Friday, can you call someone to clean this all up? I’m gonna take an ice bath.” Y/n mumbled sadly as she got up and went over to the freezer, taking a couple of packs of ice and carrying them over to her bathroom.
Around twenty minutes or so passed and the Avengers came back to the compound bloody, sweaty, and tired. But they were still incredibly alert. They were aware that HYDRA very much infiltrated the compound, and though they had massive faith in Y/n’s abilities to protect herself, they still couldn’t help but worry.
When they entered, they were surprised to see a bunch of people inside dragging a bunch of bodies, putting them into bags and cleaning up some of the mess that was made during the battle.
“What the?” Steve asked in confusion as one of the cleaners excused themselves as they pushed past the Avengers, dragging a body bag behind them.
“Friday, can you pull up footage of what happened while we were gone?” Tony asked and they all turned their attention to the tv which showed footage of Y/n battling it out with the five agents.
“At least we know she’s still got it.” Bucky said and Pietro let out a whistle, impressed with the damage that five foot two woman could do.
“Where’s Y/n right now?” Wanda asked as everyone continued looking around at the mess.
“She’s currently in her bathroom taking an ice bath.” Friday said. Usually no normal person would be able to handle an ice bath for that long, but Y/n wasn’t a normal person.
“What’s with all the confetti and the… Is that cheese?” Natasha asked in confusion as she crouched down and lifted the wooden board off the ground to see the array of cheese and meats smushed on the ground.
“Y/n was planning on surprising you all when you came back from the mission with an outdoor movie theater. She had spent the whole day making decorations for everyone’s enjoyment. They had gotten destroyed during the battle.” Friday said as she showed footage of Y/n working on all the decorations on the tv.
While everyone was watching Y/n make all the decorations for them, Tony found himself confused, but also impressed. Friday never called anyone by their first name alone. It was always their last names and some formalities. But for Y/n, it was just Y/n.
“Worldly troubles aren’t going to pause just because I want to spend time with everyone. I would never ask them to put their work on hold to make me feel better because that’s not something I want. I guess I’m just upset that I don’t get to spend as much time with them as I would like.”
Everyone stopped as Friday replayed the conversation she had with Y/n earlier that morning when the team left. They all looked around them once more and took in just how much work Y/n must have put into creating those decorations for them.
Without a word, Bruce moved over to a small pile of things that the cleaners had put in the corner to throw. He crouched down and took a small packet of balloons and inspected them.
“Who’s gonna help me on balloon duty?” Bruce asked, turning to the rest of them while raising the pack in his hands.
“I’ll help. I can probably speed the process up.” Pietro said, stepping forward and going over to Bruce.
“I’ll do the charcuterie board!” Wanda said as she picked up the board and went over to the sink to wash it.
“Ooh, I want to help too!” Sam said in excitement as she went over to Wanda who narrowed her eyes at him.
“You just want to eat them while I’m preparing.” Sam simply grinned, not wanting to confirm nor deny.
“Oh, hey, it’s my tent.” Steve said with a smile when he saw the box on the ground. It was a bit squashed, but after opening it and looking inside, the tent itself seemed to be fine.
“I’ll help you set it up. Friday, she wanted fairy lights, right?” Tony asked as the tv screen shifted.
“Here is a reference photo of what Y/n wanted to recreate.” She said, showing Tony and Steve the picture of an outdoor tent with fairy lights hanging from it, pillows and blankets laid out on the grass with a giant projector screen in front of it.
“Download that into my phone, will you, Friday?” Tony asked and his phone instantly got a notification. The two grabbed the fairy lights, the screen, and the projector that Y/n had bought before moving out.
“Friday, what was all this glass?” Natasha asked as she looked at all the multicolored glass on the ground which was suddenly swept away by one of the cleaners.
“Y/n saw these colored mason jars with fairy lights inside them, but she made up her own design to match every Avenger’s theme and color.” Friday said, showing another reference photo on the screen.
“What do you say, Barnes? Up for some arts and crafts?” Natasha asked, turning to Bucky who stared at the photo before shrugging.
“Eh, why not?” And just like that, the Avengers got to work.
Bruce was desperately trying to keep up with the balloons, only having made six while Pietro had already burnt through fourteen. Though when comparing the two, Bruce’s balloons were definitely more consistently sized than Pietro’s.
“Pietro, grab it! It’s about to fly away!” Bruce exclaimed when one of the helium balloons managed to float across the roof and out the door.
“Shit! Not again!” Pietro shouted as he sped after it.
Tony and Steve were outside bickering about how everything was supposed to be with Tony constantly looking at the reference photo while Steve took some creative liberties.
“This was the photo she chose, that means this is exactly how she wanted it to be!” Tony exclaimed while Steve shook his head.
“She’d appreciate it more if we put some thought into it and used our own creativity.” Steve retorted.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Wanda was organizing all the cheese and the meat on the board. Tony had ordered a few more and Wanda even decided to add a few berries and even made dipping sauce. Sam simply watched and handed Wanda whatever she needed, helping her slice the meat and cheese every now and again.
“No eating.” Wanda said as she harshly slapped Sam’s hand away when she saw him try to sneak a cracker off the board. The man pouted and cradled his hand before going back to cutting, quickly shoving a thin slice of cheese in his mouth before Wanda noticed.
In the living room having a more peaceful time was Natasha and Bucky who were casually painting a bunch of other mason jars. Natasha settled with printing out stencils so she wouldn’t mess up, but Bucky had created his own designs.
“How the hell did you do that? Actually, no, when the hell did you even learn to do that?” Nat asked in frustration when she saw how intricate Bucky’s paintings were.
“Y/n told me to get a hobby and she taught me how to do a bunch of arts.” Bucky said simply as he focused back onto his jar.
Y/n had finally gotten out of her ice bath, legs a bit numb but it didn’t take long for her to regain feeling in them. When she got out of her bathroom, fully changed, she was ready to just pass out on her bed and call it a day.
But the sound of music had caught her ears along with the voices of the rest of the Avengers. Curious, Y/n walked out of the room and hesitantly walked into the main area where everyone seemed to be.
“I’m just saying that I could’ve very well ordered one of those big balloon archways and got it here in thirty minutes.” Tony said while Natasha let out a scoff.
“You would really make some poor soul create a huge balloon archway at midnight just because it was in Y/n’s Pinterest recommendations?” Natasha asked with crossed arms.
“It’s in her recommendations for a reason.”
“Guys?” Every Avenger looked to the hallway in surprise at suddenly hearing Y/n’s voice.
“Oh, Y/n, put this on!” Bruce said, handing Pietro a scarf and the boy sped over behind Y/n and quickly covered her eyes with it and tied it to keep it on.
“Woah, what’s going on? What happened during the Milan attack? Also, we got infiltrated, but I took care of it and-”
“Y/n, please.” Steve said as he stepped towards her and grabbed her shoulders, gently pushing her forward and Y/n simply shut up, trusting them enough to lead her somewhere that wouldn’t kill her.
Y/n shivered a bit when she felt the cold air hit her skin, biting her lip to stop herself from asking them where they were taking her.
“Alright, time for your surprise.” Steve said as he gently untied the scarf and pulled it off of Y/n’s eyes.
The girl had to squint for a moment so she could adjust to the light, but when she did, a gasp left her mouth as she gazed at the sight before her.
There the white tent was set up with fairy lights hanging from the bars above it, pillows and blankets laid out neatly with a beautiful charcuterie board in the middle along with folded napkins holding utensils and colorful mason jars next to each pillow. In front was a giant screen with a bunch of movies being projected onto it. All around them as well were large and colorful balloons looking prettier than the original ones that Y/n made.
It was exactly like how Y/n imagined it.
“Wha- I- How did you all do this?” Y/n asked, turning to her friends with wide eyes as they all sent her a smile.
“Friday told us about what you were planning and we felt bad that it was all messed up from the fight. Good job by the way, you handled yourself amazingly like you always do.” Bruce said and Y/n let out a light chuckle.
“I’m still pretty sore from that, actually. Haven’t done that in a while, I’m kind of rusty.” She said and Sam scoffed.
“If that’s what you call rusty then I might as well put myself out of a job.” He said and Y/n laughed as she looked back to the view before her.
“Do you like it? I told them the balloon arch would’ve added more pizazz to it. Also for some reason, Captain “America” over here was against the idea of fireworks. I mean, how can you-” Y/n cut Tony off from his tangent by walking over him and wrapping her arms around him, holding him tight against her in a hug.
“Thank you. All of you, really. This is perfect.” Y/n said before unwrapping one arm and extending it to everyone else who walked forward and joined the hug.
“Alright, who’s picking the movie?” Tony asked as they all separated.
“Dibs!” Pietro said as he rushed to the remote.
“No, I don’t want to watch Die Hard again!” Wanda exclaimed as she chased after her brother.
“Oh, wait! I need to get something inside, but you guys go on.” Y/n said and they all nodded, taking their places on the blankets as Y/n ran back inside the compound.
She went over to her room and looked through her cabinets before taking out the IPad that Tony bought her months ago that she never used.
“Friday? Can you connect yourself onto my IPad, please?” Y/n called out and in an instant, the IPad turned on and the screen lit up with the color blue, a straight line going across from it.
“Do you need any assistance, Y/n?” Friday asked, the white line moving to match her volume levels.
“No, I just wanted you to join us. You saved my ass there earlier. Who knew we could make such a good team.” Y/n said, holding the IPad to her chest as she went back with everyone else, happy that she was able to have her movie night with everyone in the end.
