ER doc: Well it's broken
Gotham, cradling wrist: *sigh*
ER doc: If it's any consolation, you're the 7th person I've seen in the past month who broke a wrist while ice skating
Gotham: It isn't...
ER doc: All right! Let's get this thing fixed!
Gotham, internally: I guess it's a good thing you're so enthusiastic...
Oh no! Hope you're ok and heal quickly 😦

And they're probably not done yet.
A wee missing moment from 06x06 "World Turned Upside Down"
He kept holding my hand for a long time, long after we'd stopped talking.
I felt absurdly happy that Jamie still found me to be beautiful - my leaner frame and shorter hair notwithstanding. Somehow it didn't matter that he was my husband of more than thirty years - a husband who, not too many months ago, had ordered more than a dozen men killed on my behalf - a husband for whom I'd borne two daughters.
As a woman, I wanted so desperately to be beautiful for him.
I'd closed my eyes - and I know he did, too, though he stayed close to me on the pillow.
"Sassenach?" he muttered, voice just above a whisper.
"Mm?" I snuggled closer. He let go of my hand and drew closer to me, fingers gently tracing along the open neck of my shift.
"What if I had agreed to come into your room, all those years ago, when we were collecting the rents?"
I smiled - thinking of the candlestick I'd grabbed so desperately to ward off invaders. Knowing now just how unprepared I would have truly been to defend myself.
"I wouldn't have welcomed you onto the bed."
He snorted. "I should hope not. I'd have slept on the floor, then. Between your bed and the door."
"So that anyone who came through the door, would have to come through you first."
I opened my eyes to see him smiling at me. Softly I traced the arches of his eyebrows.
"Aye. I could barely sleep that night, even though I was outside your door - for the blanket you gave me smelled of you." He kissed my forehead. "So, truth be told, there was no way I could ever have been able to sleep, had I been so close to you. It didnae matter that we had slept close together before - that was wi' other people around."
"So you would have stayed up all night?"
"Most likely. Watching you sleep." His thumb traced the slow, steady pulse in my neck. "I enjoyed doing it while we were on the road. I still do. I've never tired of it."
I flushed.
"And even if you had intended to...to romance me, Sassenach - "
"I had no such intentions!" I protested.
His smile was so beautiful in the moonlight. "Weel - I did promise ye honesty. And I'll be honest in saying that even if you'd invited me to your bed, I wouldn't have even kent what to do or where to start."
I moved a bit closer. Kissed him.
"You were a fast learner."
His lips parted, and his breath quickened.
"Aye," he breathed into my mouth. "I had a verra patient teacher."
Beautiful 😭
Outlander - 6x03 Temperance Reaction
What is there to possibly be angry about? The show is phenomenal this season!!
I won't even share what they claim to be angry about. Not worth your and my time.
And I think this is the strongest season since Season 1. I couldn't be more pleased.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - when I first read Outlander in the spring of 2005, the consensus was, it's it too bad that these books can never be adapted into a movie or miniseries - but that's OK, because they are big and complicated and it wouldn't do justice to the story or characters.
When it was announced in 2013 that the Starz series was in the works, I couldn't have been more skeptical. I watched the premiere with trepidation in August 2014. And as soon as Murtagh marched Claire into the cottage, and I saw Jamie hunched by the fire with his injured shoulder...I said to myself, all right, this probably won't be too terrible. And then towards the end of the episode, when Jamie falls off the horse and Claire curses a blue streak while mending his shoulder, and he looks up at her wide-eyed in the dark...I said to myself, holy shit this is the moment Jamie falls in love with Claire, and I was hooked.
From that moment, I've hoped the series would make it this far - that we'd see one of my all-time favorite exchanges, from "A Breath of Snow and Ashes":
“But we are here, all of us. And we’re here because I loved you, more than the life that was mine. Because I believed you loved me the same way....Will you tell me that’s not true?”
“No,” he said after a moment, so softly I could barely hear him. His hand tightened harder on mine. “No, I willna tell ye that. Not ever, Claire.”
And this week, we finally did.
I can't find the words to express how overjoyed I am.
I honestly can't imagine why people are angry, I have seen some ridiculous comments but I think the only "complaint" you could have about this season is the script writers must have been twiddling their thumbs because there is so much dialogue verbatim from the books, and if anyone wants to complain about that, they're off their nut.
I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have finally seen one of my all-time favorite Jamie and Claire exchanges make it to the screen.
I'm talking about Jamie and Claire's heart-to-heart in the aftermath of Malva's accusation, in 06x06 "World Turned Upside Down."
Not only did the actors get the tone of the conversation absolutely PERFECT - and not only was the blocking of the scene just PERFECT (they start the scene so far apart from each other - mirroring how far apart emotionally they feel - and by the end of the scene they're holding each other close, showing that they're back as a unit once more)...
...the setting of the conversation is just perfect.
Let me explain.
In "A Breath of Snow and Ashes", Claire similarly (dramatically) exits the conversation right after Malva makes her accusation. She walks off into the woods. It takes a few hours for Jamie to find her. And the conversation plays out between them, alone, in the woods by a spring.
But in the series - she doesn't go too far from home. She goes to the stables. Exactly where Jamie knows he'll find her.
And when they talk about it - she can see *everything* that's at stake.
Jamie.
The house.
The stables.
The tenants bustling in the background.
All of it - literally laid out in front of her.
To her back is nothing - which is the life she'd lead, were it not for Jamie.
In front of her is the man she has - willingly - sacrificed everything for. The man with whom she's built a hard-won life, all on nothing but the rock-solid foundation of his love for her.
As she looks at Jamie, she's also looking at the entire life she's built. A life that - as she says - means NOTHING if her love for Jamie is not true.
All of which makes what she says - that she believes him, that she knows he loves her as she does him - that much more poignant.
Absolutely. I've seen comments saying, oh he should have held her and comforted her, but I think not. If he'd ran up to her and tried to hold her at that moment she woild have pushed him away, which would have made the situation worse. Instead he knew she needed that bit of distance, to resolve her emotions and clarify everything, and that she would need to come to him.
I have looked forward to seeing this conversation on screen ever since I learned in 2013 that Outlander would be adapted into a series.
It's been almost 9 years of waiting.
But oh, was the wait worth it.

“It’s a great comfort,” he said at last, “to see the sun come up and go down. When I dwelt in the cave, when I was in prison, it gave me hope, to see the light come and go, and know that the world went about its business.”
He was looking out the window, toward the blue distance where the sky darkened toward infinity. His throat moved a little as he swallowed.
“It gives me the same feeling, Sassenach,” he said, “to hear ye rustling about in your surgery, rattling things and swearin’ to yourself.” He turned his head, then, to look at me, and his eyes held the depths of the coming night.
“If ye were no longer there—or somewhere—” he said very softly, “then the sun would no longer come up or go down.” He lifted my hand and kissed it, very gently.

They do break my heart with loving them. 😭
After seeing the latest Outlander episode. I'm pretty sure it was Malva's brother who put her up to lying about Jamie. In the scene when Claire goes to talk to Malva she didn't turn nasty until Allan, her brother came outside.
On top of that, I then remembered how a lot of "fans" were butt hurt that Caitriona didn't make it to the live premiere and were saying, oh she doesn't care about the show, she's only interested in promoting Belfast. To those people, i would like to say "f**k right off".
To all the angry anons who are hating all over my inbox:
I'm not engaging with you.
I'm deleting your asks.
Take your negative energy elsewhere.
I'm truly enjoying the show - I'm grateful for every minute we get - and nothing you can do will ever stop that.
There's enough negativity in the world, without you adding to it.
Go hug a puppy. Take a walk outside. Make a charitable donation. Knit some socks. Take cans to a food pantry.
Channel your energy in a more positive direction.
Absolutely this. I'm really loving this season and how they've used so much actual book dialogue is fantastic. It's very sad that some people just want to crap on things because situations don't fit their own agendas. I truly hope we get all the books, I truly hope I live to see them all and I truly hope if either Jamie or Claire or both die in the last book, someone warns me so I don't read it, because my heart couldn't take the pain.
