Today’s photo dump. Although I’m a New Yorkers there’s still some parts of the city I haven’t visited. Central Parks fountain being one of them. Got to listen to some cool music. Got some nostalgia. I used to sing this song for rehabilitation centers. I was enjoying my day, until I remembered that Central Park was built over what used to be a mostly affluent African American community. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, look up Seneca Village 19th Century village. Once the veil comes off, you can never put it back on DAMN! - unveiling social theory. Chopped cheese gaslight … Decent weekend. Sat in the sun ☀️, a lot.. played, ate good food, talked to friends aka family. Bleached the knots of a wig for the first time, didn’t have time to put it on. Put in my input for my oldest daughters next hair color ( she changes it bi-weekly) Talked about hard truths. “I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone.” - Maya Angelou Today was the Hometown Heroes Ticker Tape Parade in NYC While I was watching the footage on the screen I was flooded with a wave of gratitude for the heroes in my life. They went into work day in and day out. Showed up when it would have been so easy to turn away and throw in the towel. My friends, my partner. I talked to Tanya nearly everyday during the pandemic. EH 👏🏽 VE 👏🏽 RY 👏🏽 day. Even though she was busy navigating first responders through New York’s transportation system. Jocelyn who made sure I was SANITIZED the house down and who let her daughter do virtual playtime’s and socially distant playtime with Aria. At one point we were really risking it all just to make sure our kids felt some sort of normalcy! She helped me when I got sick 😷 and made sure I got my 🍑 to the hospital because I was too scared to make the decision on my own. She did all this while experiencing tremendous loss and making sure New York’s sickest had hospital beds to get better. My partner… who helped DV victims during the pandemic, did 12 hours+ shifts during civil unrest and dealt with me; I was no walk in the park yall!! 🥴😆 These are my personal heroes. The truth about my anxiety The most difficult part of dealing with my anxiety is -psychosomatic symptoms. “When physical symptoms are caused or made worse by your mental state, it’s called psychosomatic.” -Healthline While I don’t have to share this I choose to because I would hate for someone in my community to be experiencing the same thing and feel alone. The symptoms of chronic stress include: headaches migraine muscle tension and soreness digestive issues such as diarrhea, stomach pain, and appetite changes sleep issues or disorders feelings of sluggishness and so many more. It’s so frustrating not knowing if my symptoms are REAL when they FEEL real and for the past month I’ve dealt with one or more of these symptoms; it hasn’t been fun. So if you’re out there and are going through this or this sounds like something you may be experiencing. You’re not alone.
