The full moon washed over the clay, painting the desert ponies in light so clear it was almost daylight. It was cool, and quiet, a respite from the blazing sun of the day. Elsewhere, a lone coyote howled, and was answered by only the warning snorts of the horses that quickly settled back into quiet tail swishing.
