Releasing Memories - Peter Maximoff x Reader
Summary: what should have been a usual afternoon babysitting the twins, ends up with some unexpected visitors at the door.
A/N: i just want to apologize in advance if the characters who show up are a bit ooc (not specifying the names here so I don’t spoil the surprise lmao) since it’s my first time writing for them 😅
The sun was shining brightly that afternoon as you and Pietro babysat the twins as per usual. Currently, the four of you were playing uno together while Wanda and Vision had gone out together.
Pietro smirked, putting down his second to last card, and proudly shouted, “Checkmate!”
“Pietro this is UNO not chess, dumbass.” You said with a roll of your eyes. Pietro grumbled something with a pout, and you snickered.
You went next, pulling a plus four card onto Tommy, who groaned out in annoyance.
“Aunt (Y/F/N) Whyyyyyyyyyy” Tommy whined.
“Yeah that was a low blow (Y/F/N).” Pietro chimed in.
You gave a playful slap on his arm and he gasped dramatically.
“Billy it’s your turn!” Tommy said impatiently.
“I’m going, I’m going! Just give me a minute!” Billy said staring at his cards intently, wanting to make the best choice.
All of a sudden there had been a knock on the door, and you looked over at Pietro with a puzzled look. Unfortunately, he had the same exact look on his face as you, completely clueless at to who could be at the door. Wanda and Vision weren’t set to be home for at least 3 more hours.
“I’ll go get it,” You said getting up from the pillow you had been seated on. “Billy you’d better have put a card down by the time I come back!” You said teasingly which made Billy stick his tongue out at you.
As you headed toward the door, another knock rang out, and it sounded much more aggressive then the first time. You furrowed your brow, and unlocked the door, and opened the door ajar, peaking through to see who was on the other side.
“I’m telling you Charles just let me unlock the door myself- Oh. Hello.”
Stood before you were two men. The first man was bald and also in a wheelchair, and the second man who had been speaking was quite tall with brown hair.
The man in the wheelchair turned his head towards you, a friendly smiling spreading onto his face.
“Hello there! I’m Charles Xavier! This is my friend Erik Lensher,” The man said motioning towards the man next to him, who was looking towards you with not nearly as an excited expression as the man named Charles.
“Oh well uh, H-Hello...May I help you?” You asked, only opening the door just a fraction more, still suspicious as to who these two men are.
Pietro had still been in the back of the room with the boys, but kept a close eye on you, starting to get a bit concerned.
“Babe, are you alright over there?”
The tall man, Erik, seemed to perk up a bit at the sound of Pietro. He leaned down a bit towards Charles, “That was Peter, come on we need to go in.”
Your breath hitched, and somewhere in your mind you felt like that ñame held a special meaning to you...but you must have just been imagining things.
Charles glared up at the other man, and turned towards you with a now rather nervous looking smile.
“Don’t mind him, he’s just very eager to meet the our new neighbors.” Charles said apologetically.
“We had just wanted to stop by and say hello, maybe get to know each other?”
You started to feel a bit uncomfortable with the situation that was going on, so you turned your head away from the men and towards the direction of Pietro. “Help. Me.” You mouthed over to him.
In a flash Pietro was standing next to you, peering at the men through the door.
“The owners of this establishment are not present at the moment, maybe you guys should come back at another time.” He said with a shit eating grin.
You rolled your eyes at Pietro and turned back to the men. “I’m real sorry, but he’s right, right now isn’t a great time for this-“
“Alright I’m tired of waiting.” Erik said and suddenly the door went flying open, with you and Pietro scurrying away from the door as to not get hit.
“Erik wAIT-“ Charles said with his eyes wide.
“(Y/N), Peter, it’s time to take you home.”
Pietro quickly wrapped his arms around you protectingly, holding you as close to him as possible.
“Uh, I think you have us mixed up with some other family.” Pietro said, glaring at Erik. He turned towards the twins who were still in the back, staring in disbelief of what was going on.
“Hey! Both of you get your butts upstairs!” He yelled out at them, which the boy quickly complied to, Speeding away without hesitation.
Charles let out a sigh as he rolled into the house.
“Please Erik. Just let me explain to them what’s going on. It would be much easier to ease them back into their former mindset than to force the memories back.”
“I’m sorry, what?” You said completely confused.
“Believe it or not, someone has been messing with your minds, and you aren’t who you think you are,” Charles began, slowly moving towards the both of you. “I want to be able to help you. Let your minds free from the force that is taken hold of it.”
“Man, what are you on cause I sure as hell want some.” Pietro said with an uneasy laugh. He wasn’t buying into anything Charles was saying, but you were intrigued.
“So you can what? Get into our minds our something?”
“Yes, that is exactly what he can do.” Erik interjected, his arms crossed across his chest. If you’ve learned anything about this man, it was that he was extremely impatient.
Pietro let of a scoff, and looked back and forth between the both of them.
“Don’t. move.” He said to the both of them, before speeding the two of you into the kitchen. He turned towards you, placing a hand onto your cheek.
“(Y/F/N), You don’t believe this crap do you?” Pietro asked you. You bit your lip, as you thought about how ridiculous this all sounded, but somewhere in your gut, you felt like something was telling you to believe the two men strange men.
“I...I don’t know. I mean, what is the worst thing that could happen if we let him do what he says?” You responded. Pietro let out a sigh, and placed his lips onto yours, giving you a sweet kiss.
“I swear if they end up making our brains explode or something I’m blaming you.” He mummered, making you let out a soft laugh, which in turn made him grin.
In a blur, the both of you were back to facing Charles and Erik.
“Alright fine. Go ahead and invade our minds or whatever.” Pietro said, still very unsure if he really wanted to do this, but he trusted you.
Charles smiled, and then closed his eyes. For a moment, you didn’t feel anything, and thought he wasn’t doing anything and this was all just some joke. But then, you started to feel something start to invade your head, and you started to see memories of you and Pietro...except they were memories you didn’t even know you had. One seemed to be the both of you in a high school, with student all around the both of you. Then another of Pietro, intently staring at the screen of a PacMan Arcade game. Then, all of a sudden something in your mind seemed to snap, and all your memories started flooding back into your head in an instant and it was almost to much to bear. Your eyes filled up with tears and you fell to your knees.
You weren’t (Y/F/N). You were (Y/N). Your boyfriend was Peter, not Pietro. And...wait, where the hell were you?
Next to you, you could hear Peter let out a scream, as he held his hands to his head, tears streaming down his face.
“I-It HURTS.” He yelled, squeezing his eyes tightly. Peter then dropped down onto his knees as well, and you quickly moved towards him, wrapping your arms around him tenderly. He buried his head into your neck, as he continued to process everything that was just unleashed into his mind.
Charles reopened his eyes, letting out a shaky breath, and looked over to Erik. Erik raised a brow, silently asking if he was able to bring all their memories back, which Charles nodded to.
As Peter slowly began to calm down, you looked up at Charles.
“P-Professor...are we going home?” You asked in a soft spoken voice. Charles gave you a reassuring smile.
“Yes (Y/N), were going to get the both of you out of here.”
“Oh now I wouldn’t be too sure about that.” A new voice suddenly rang out, making everyone turn towards the door to see who it was.
There leaning on the doorframe, arms crossed, was no other than Agnes.
