I was doing some muscle studies and decided to turn one into Yasha Nydoorin. I got lost in the sauce a little with this one. I don't feel like I did Yasha justice, but I also want to feel okay with posting things I'm not 100% happy with. Sorry Ashley Johnson, I'll do better job on Yasha another day, because she deserves it.

Forty Days of Frankenstein, Day Ten: The Frankenstein meme has periodically made its way into the world of fine art.  In 1997 artist Gerald Brom published a collection of his art titled *Darkwërks The Art of Brom*.  In it, this image, titled “Alone,” a forlorn, sorrowful monster, scarred and held together with metal bands, hides himself from the world among the dead.  I love this image, particularly the expression on his face.  What do you think?

earlier this year, the government of Ontario gave me a grant to write a book based on a pitch. and then I was like oh fuck, I actually need to write this book now.

but IT'S DONE! grant book is finished! it's very petite (>50k) and not at all my usual style of writing, but re-reading the ending made me cry in public, so maybe it's alright.

the premise is: you're a changeling. you were been swapped at birth for a human child, sent to human schools, and now in adulthood, are a bit of a failure. because, turns out, it's really hard to do human things when you're not actually human.

but still, things are going decently! until the human you were swapped for comes back to take their life. and - instead of treating them like an invader - everyone loves them. more than they do you.

definitely not a metaphor for anything, don't read into this too deeply, hahahahah! but anyway, it's called The Auf, and I hope it'll be a real book someday.

the entire book is third person (though from the perspective of the changeling) and uses it/its pronouns. originally it was first person, with the changeling just explaining that it prefers to be referred to neutrally, but I wanted the gender fuckery to be impossible to ignore.

(*they said "why do you call her 'it'? there needs to be explanation as to why she has that preference. isn't she a lady?")
