I hate that we have the idea of beach bodies. Like, I don't get it because one thing I love more than anything about swimming is when you go and you see a whole different spectrum of body types each time. Each time you know it's not the full spectrum, you know there are large gaps. But it's like a kaleidoscope.
For example, Im gay, but I don't like looking at a bunch of conventionally attractive male bodies. I like to see guys who are strong and fat, guys who are skinny but have defined abs, guys with broad shoulders, guys with narrow shoulders and long necks, guys with body hair, guys without body hair, guys with stronger upper bodies, guys with stronger lower bodies, guys who don't look like they have much muscle at all- and seeing how that looks on skinny guys, fat guys, and middle range guys. (And yes, this includes trans guys- whether or not they pass)
And women? Dude. I would be here all day.
It really is like a kaleidoscope. Features you wouldn't expect to see together. Old people, young people, middle aged people. Different ways the body shows age, different ways the body stores fat, different ways of carrying ourselves, different ways people look in the sun and the water, different ways people look doing the same things, the same feature looking different on two different people.
This might sound really weird. But it's like a catalogue. Flipping through the pages, seeing different styles, different models.
I genuinely adore the variation in human bodies. Honestly, thats what I enjoy about going swimming. It's a watering hole. The sight seeing, the people watching. I love it.
