I know this isnât huge sample size but in looking up the disaster episodes I found a list of the episodes ranked. I was surprised to see âdown the street thereâs a riotâ was listed as number 1. I donât hate it but it didnât stand out to me. I feel vindicated in my feels since it has no votes lol. âBangâ and âSomething is comingâ were in the top three which makes sense.

I havenât posted in a while but since we have polls now letâs do some Desperate Housewives questions. Favorite Lead Housewife?
Bree
Susan
Lynette
Gabby
So someone (@idreamofdragons ) asked for Desperate Housewives tea/discourse, but I want to know people's opinions On:
1. Gabby's affair in season 1? Or her relationship with Carlos for that matter?
2. Any and all opinions on Susan Mayers
3. Bree's relationship with her family (especially with her kids + Orson) and her spiralling mental health
It has been a few years since my last rewatch so forgive me if I donât remember some character arcs super well(especially for the last 2 seasons). Also, the very first time I watched this show I was a teenager and now I am in my late 20s so my opinions have changed each rewatch.
1. Gabbyâs affair: when I first watched this as a teen I thought the relationship was really weird, but didnât think too much into it. As an adult, she definitely groomed him and it is really fucked up on so many levels. I get that she was neglected and lonely, but she shouldnât have gone after a teenager. Her relationship with Carlos: they went through a lot of ups and downs and they were definitely toxic at times, but they weirdly worked together(kinda)? They both had really big egos which caused a lot of issues. In general I have a really hard time relating to Gabby, so I struggle to put myself in her shoes. I also didnât really like most of their storylines after the time jump.
2. The ever popular topic of Susan Meyer: personally I donât hate Susan as much as most people do, but I am not her biggest fan either. When I first watched the show she was actually the one I related to the most, perhaps it was because I was accident prone or maybe I was just really invested in her and Mikeâs relationship. Each rewatch after that I found myself relating to a different housewife(except for Gabby) depending on where I was in life. I think most people find her annoying, but I wouldnât say that is my problem with her. I think my problems with her really thinks highly of herself. Ex: She thinks she has done a great job raising Julie, but really she leaned on Julie a lot more than she should have.
3. Breeâs relationships: I will just start by saying I was raised in a similar family dynamic, though not as extreme. Letâs start with Andrew, their relationship is really rough for the first couple of seasons, but I really enjoyed watching them grow together over the rest of the seasons. Next is Danielle, I really wish Danielle had more character growth in general instead of keeping her as kind of bratty and entitled for most of the show. We donât get to see as much growth between Bree and Danielle, but I think that is because the whole pregnancy/fake pregnancy really ruined their relationship. Orson, I actually really liked the Bree and Orson dynamicâŚuntil they ruined it in later seasons. I thought they were really similar, but also balanced each other. For the most part(until later season) Orson let Bree be the dominant one in the relationship and that worked for them. Though if you study Orsonâs character arc it is kind of odd, he starts out as this sinister character that you donât know the intentions of, then goes to this more goofy submissive guy, and then back to sinister. Breeâs mental health: I unfortunately can relate to Bree a lot in this regard because I too was raised in a house were we didnât talk about our feelings and we better not let anyone outside of the family think we are anything less than perfect. I think her spiraling mental health made a lot a sense, especially with everything she went through in her personal life and the fact that all the blame for everything the last few seasons is dumped on her. When you have been raised to push everything down and put on a happy face, it can be really hard to reach out when you need it.
Anyways, donât mind my 2 AM ramblings. I apologize if some of this doesnât make sense. I would love to hear what my followers think. Feel free to disagree with me, I love hearing other peopleâs perspectives on this show!
âThere is a reason people canât wait for Christmas, and it has little to do with family reunions, or curling up with a cup of eggnog, or that unexpected kiss beneath a mistletoe, or receiving a present from that special someone, no, people look forward to Christmas, because they know itâs a time for miraclesâ
â Mary Alice Young (Desperate Housewives)
The best Christmas ever, thatâs what the residents of Wisteria Lane were dreaming of as they prepared for their annual Yuletide festival. So, they hung up a banner, brought out their candy canes and put up Santaâs workshop as eager as children for the holiday to begin.
