âThere is.â Lia had never been a liar, and one thing was for certain, he had let the ordeal go, so she could at least give him something in return. âBut you donât need to worry yourself with it. Itâs not like you want to claim me anyway.â they had been together quite a few times actually, and they had spent some time together, if Chistian ever wanted to claim her, he would have at least asked her already. Did it bother her? A bit, there was a still a part of her that wished for a show of⊠liking.
But Lia had been in the mansion for too long, she knew the ins and outs of the mansion, and she was well aware that even liking was too much to ask for. As sad as it was. But she wasnât going to dwell on it, not when she didnât want it changed. Was she happy on the cells? No, but that didnât mean she wasnât⊠settled. And settled was better than hurt over too many expectations.
âYeah? Mr. Duke learned how to cook from his amazing nannies?â she doubted it, mostly because Christian didnât look like the kind of guy that would want to cook, or actually bothered to learn something that wouldnât be of real service for him. The brunette should somewhat trust him by then, but even if Lia had recovered from her ordeal, or at least recovered enough to actually function, there were some things she had to ask to settle herself. She smiled, looking down at her hot dog, at least it was looking way better than his sandwich. The gummy worms were already on the bag âIf itâs for cooking I donât mind.â she looked back at Christian with a smile âIf itâs for cooking I donât mind them.â
"Youâre right,â he nodded. Christian didnât mean to sound rude or anything, but it was the truth. He hadnât been searching to claim anyone else other than Daniella. Bellatrix had sort of just happened. His focus had always been on his main goal -- his stepsister. He had finally gotten what he wanted; achieve what he came to this bloody mansion to begin with. Whatever happen next, he would work out. As of right now, Lia was just another conquest he had to make for his own pride and ego. âAnd we may not see eye to eye most of the time, but Iâm still here to listen to you. Even if I must put tape over my mouth.â He added lastly as a joke to ease the mood.Â
Lia was the rare exception of those slaves that wanted to get slaved. Getting claimed was ticket to a better life. Some of the most stubborn slaves eventually realize that. So, the man could not help but wonder what other reasons Lia could have other than the ones he already knew. He only knew half the story, and being the greedy person he was, he wanted the full one. But he knew that would come along with her trust. He was a patient man after all.Â
"Mr. Duke only had one nanny, and she was an amazing cook if you must know.â Christian feigned to be hurt over her words. Everything he did had a purpose. Let it be for the fun of it or some more serious matter. Cooking had never been in his list of things to do. That much was obvious by the look of confusion that was upon his face as he starred down at his half horrible done sandwich. How hard could it be to make some sandwich? Apparently very hard for the man that had never made one. His eyes went to look at Lia hot dog and he frowned. âWhat did you..-- never mind.â He suddenly remembered the carving she had and dropped it. âArenât you suppose to be cooking that over the fire? Better not get me sick.â
