The tenderness of this statement made me start crying on the spot?? In the context of the story, it's beautiful, but even removed from it?? Posing the question of: will you /permit/ me to love you?

Again im such a sap but I feel like I've never seen in media someone ask permission to love someone.

To take that moment not to Declare your feelings and push that onto them, but to ask to be allowed that. That is so so so incredibly gentle and i just cant get over it.

So @matcha-matics had an idea for a Thousand Autumns Exorcist AU and the image of Spider Demon Yan Wushi overcame me

Also for whatever reason 1930’s era also decided to enter the chat (I just really wanted to draw Yan Wushi in 長衫 (Changshan) and then Shen Qiao made it in cause I wanted Yan Wushi calling to him)

So here is 1930 Exorcist AU (go read the og post for at least a little bit more context. I’m just here for the visuals)

Demon/exorcist yanshen au.... 🫣🖤 After a horrible accident (cough betrayal cough), amniesiac Shen Qiao is taken captive, er, rescued by Yan Wushi, a famously brutal spider demon.

Breaking out should be easy work, but Shen Qiao literally can't remember his exorcist training. Only here and there, he'll feel an itch in his fingers, burning on his lips where he once knew the appropriate incantation.
