Heteronormativity just seems like people making up weird arbitrary rules and then getting mad at each other for breaking them and it all looks so miserable to me
A straight guy told me he's going to therapy to figure out why the idea of having children and being in a monogamous marriage doesn't appeal to him and I was just like idk man that describes like 90% of my friends including me and we're all literally fine but good luck I guess?
But when I say the “wholesome and funny” YouTube short I have been handed of students surprise showing their teachers 10+ year old photos of themselves and most them were emo/goth in some way and every single one now has medium brown beach waves and is wearing head to toe beige and immediately screams and hides the photo like it’s the most embarrassing thing in the world is a hallmark of a deeply insidious tendency to associate socially acceptable WASPy aesthetics with maturity and responsibility and perpetuates the idea that everyone grows up, “gets right” and becomes the most digestible unobtrusive heterosexual I’m “taking it too seriously”
“It’s not that serious” oh but it issssss because every day we perpetuate the idea that non-conformity of any kind to the white straight middle class standard is inherently immature and gets “left behind” when someone becomes a socially acceptable adult
This idea that maturity is conformity is everywhereeee if you look for even a moment
no one cares that you shave your legs because of sensory issues shut the fuck up forever
really galling amount of people misinterpreting this post so i'd like to clarify. i'm saying that when discussions about patriarchal beauty standards and the way women are heavily shamed and coerced into eschewing their own natural state of being (hairy) are occurring, it is unhelpful (AT BEST) to interrupt and say that the reason YOU remove the hair from your body is because of sensory issues. that's not what we're talking about. stop asking for validation for doing something that society at large wants you to do. stop derailing the conversation because you feel uncomfortable about being made aware that you, for whatever reason it is, adhere to harmful, unfair and ridiculous beauty standards. you're stepping into the middle of an important conversation that needs to be had and making it all about you. shut the fuck up forever.
also quite frankly i think a lot less people would experience sensory issues if they let their hair grow out so that it isn't bristly and rough and irritating. and i cannot help but wonder why these sensory issues aren't as predominant in men. maybe you're uncomfortable with the hair on your body because you've been taught to be uncomfortable with it. just a thought.
that photo is one of the sexiest things i have ever seen.
Tall women don’t you ever feel insecure, you hold so much power with just a simple stance, I love youuuuuuuuu
my friends and I have created a game we call Quipposting, where you play quiplash but you roll a wheel full of character archetypes, and whatever it lands on, you all answer as if you are like, a wizard or cowboy. This legitimately makes quiplash go from a fun enough game to an S+ tier absolute unabashed banger
the best characters are Mafia Goon, Cyberpunk Hacker, Castle Guard, Sewer Rat, 16th Century Peasant, and Alien Poorly Pretending to be Human
OP we desperately need examples
these are all from mafia goonposting but I think it’s my absolute favorite one of all time so I have a lot of pictures from it. Turn on some jazz and wait until people start talking in the accent and you’ll make Magic
see, Roland Emmerich is the better Stupid Summer Blockbuster Movie guy because Michael Bay definitely didn't add in a (platonic, friendly) gay kiss to any of his movies in their anniversary celebration editions (especially not between Jeff Goldblum and actual out gay actor Harvey Fierstein)
quod erat demonstratum
also yes Independence Day is a big loud stupid movie but it's a big loud stupid movie about a jewish nerd with SUCH severe ADHD he misses the apocalypse starting and a black NASA-candidate fighter pilot who is getting engaged to his stripper girlfriend (who has a son from a previous marriage) (and who gets to inform the first lady of the US that she's an exotic dancer to burst her little neat bubble of political correctness) and puts in enough scenes between characters that you give a shit about those people
if you have to watch a big loud stupid movie, you can do much worse
also if you don't like this scene i don't like you. harry connick jr really said "my character is going to be a supportive drunk girl, a little obnoxious, and super into my best friend/wingman, and that's my entire character"
"This person has a secret onlyfans!" "This artist does NSFW commissions!" "This author writes porn on the side!" I cannot begin to tell you how swag and awesome that is.
[recommending something i sincerely love] ok so the thing about it is it kinda sucks
Strange racists and homophobes on the internet seem to have access to an alternate way cooler version of TV than me. "every white character on TV is in an interracial relationship" "every show has a gay couple in it" "main characters keep having to secretly be bisexual and nonbinary" "every show has gratuitous full frontal nudity" like damn promise?? What channel???
as a black gay person real like where y'all be finding this stuff pass the name
for real though, those DO NOT WATCH OR YOU'LL CORRUPT YOUR CHILDREN lists put out by conservative christian family groups is where I find all the stellar tv shows. Like, shit I didn't know half of those existed, thanks for finding them for me, gonna go watch 30 hours of gay tv now!
I think I know how this works.
For personal context, before I went to the '98 Burning Man festival, one of the things I'd read from a couple different journalists was that "everybody" runs around naked. Which, fine by me, I'd already spent a lot of time in clothing-optional spaces, I'm not fanatic about it but it's nice.
So I got there early and set up a public shade structure on one of Black Rock City's main roads and spent most of each afternoon just watching the crowds go by. I don't remember seeing more than one actually naked person the whole week. I think a topless woman passed by my intersection maybe every half an hour, sometimes once an hour. So why in the hell were people, normally pretty smart and observant writers, coming away with the impression that everybody was naked?
Then I remembered an unrelated passage from Joel Garreau's great book about the history of the outer-ring suburbs, Edge City. Mall developers told him flat-out that they tried to keep the crowds in their malls less than 5% black. Not because they themselves were racist, but because they had determined, experimentally, that if more than 5% of the people in the mall are black, the median white shopper will wrongly describe the mall as at least half black, as mostly black. And not a few of them would describe it, at 6% black, as a mall where "only black people go." Why?
Because, emotionally, they were still upset over the last one when the next one came into view.
Same as the journalists describing Black Rock City as all naked. Same as the right-wing religious culture warriors describing television as entirely mixed-race and gender non-conforming. Not because it's even vaguely true, we know that, but because they haven't gotten over their discomfort over the last one by the time the next one comes along. The anger, not the stimulus, is the part that's continuous, so their mind lies to them that it's "all" the thing they can't get over.
Similar effect for the presence/proportion of women in things, by the way: https://health.howstuffworks.com/mental-health/human-nature/perception/how-17-equals-496-the-amazing-multiplying-women.htm
I don't know whether or not this is true, but I'm reblogging this because we live in a world where the third search result when I tried researching the validity of this information was a link to an article about a weight loss product.
The second search result had included the slur "ob*se" in the title of the article.
There are seriously people who tell me fat people aren't oppressed. Meanwhile, trying to find information about how to keep a fat person from drying in a car crash is met with links to products that make dirty money off of how society views my body.
I immediately gave up trying to research this.
The tiktok is correct. Basically it's about arranging your belt so it there is an accident the pressure is in your strongest bones.
"Seatbelt should be across your hips rather than your stomach for everyone, but i think it's more common for fat people to wear seatbelts over the stomach
Pelvic bones are strong and sturdy, and you're going to be MUCH less likely to injure internal organs and such when you suddenly slam into a nylon belt"

I wanted to put both of these reblogs in one reblog chain since this is helpful information. Thank you both for giving more information than fatphobic Google did.
Thanks to everyone who worked on verifying this information.
there are days where NO ❌️ video games are played and there are days where video games are played for 10 or maybe 14 hours straight
im gonna lock in and do my part in conflating penetrating w submission instead soon. u and ur phallus is being #devoured
I think movies need more sex and i also think that actors need to be uglier and less in shape
Lady Macbeth was transmasc cmv. "Unsex me now"? Dude was literally having gender dysphoria and killing about it and honestly I get it
#ok i haven't really seen macbeth in a way that my brain has processed it #so like if there's greater reading of this within the text and whatnot context #but if this is the one line #this line does not indicate transmasculinity it indicates transnull #agender lady macbeth
Normally I'm all for more interpretations than defaulting to the binary, but in this case, Lady Macbeth's yearning/rage is specifically and overwhelmingly tied to ideas around being a man. "Unsex me now" in the context of the play and Lady Macbeth's circumstances and preoccupations is about her choosing a path that's going to strip her of the sex that has determined the course of her life—that is, womanhood; she's calling for the sex she already has (as understood in her world) to be taken away so she can be a true man—the man that Macbeth is not. Lady Macbeth's whole deal is caught up in regarding Macbeth as less of a man than she is, yet reaping the rewards of it despite his failures of masculinity.
There are many ways to read this, but tbh I think it's very important to the play that Lady Macbeth's rage and ultimate insanity are not about being gendered, but about gendered as female despite a strong alignment with masculinity and tbh deep contempt for women.
yall gotta be nicer about m/f bc sometimes u guys like the blandest gay sutff ive ever seen in my life
gonna add onto this you all gotta stop acting like m/f is just cishet when bisexual people exist and straight trans people exist.
