Dogless days

My pup Maddie is camping with my parents down in Southern Indiana. I've been going about my day as if she were still here.

I wake up expecting her to be at the foot of my bed. So I still cautiosly stepped onto the floor trying not to wake her/step on her. But she wasn't there.

I ate a plate of food for breakfast. Maddie's usually my dishwasher. I set the plate on the ground, but she wasn't summoned by the clink of the plate to the floor.

I opened up the front door to let light in, and locked the screen door so she wouldn't run out. But I was the only one to keep myself locked in.

Me: I mean if you go to Buckhead, Midtown or Virginia Highlands, you'll find white people.

Friend: Cuz I'm trying to find someone to date that would be in those areas. That kind of scene.

Me: ...someone white?

Friend: Well no, not necessarily, just someone that would be in those bar areas. Someone with similar interests as me. I mean, I consider you white.
