This little man is 4 now. He makes me laugh every single day, I'm so lucky and proud to be his Dad.

It's a few days late but the little dudes started school. I wish summer was year round.

12 hours, 28 minutes and 45 seconds after I jumped in the water it was over. Matthew Murphy, you are an Ironman. I loved every minute of it. "She'll shake you to Idaho that's what she'll do."

Three weeks. Then it is back to Idaho, back to complete the 140.6, back with my whole family in my corner. I think I'm moving to Idaho.

Vacation started Monday and so did the sickness. After losing 6 pounds in the most unhealthy cleanse possible, I was mentally ready to train today. I made it 3/4 of the bike session before my body shut off any further output. I guess that's a success considering I didn't start on normal foods until today. Sadly Elliot is getting over a sickness as well. Thankful he didn't experience the cleanse, but it was still not fun and it has been messing with his sleep. He needs his sleep, but is over tired and having weird night terrors. This afternoon he wouldn't nap. He instead rearranged his bedroom and started throwing fits, in his over tired state. Frustrated I went into his room and held him, which at first he fought. I could feel my anxiety starting to grow, then I had a thought, 'how much longer will I be able to hold him and comfort him in my arms? Soon he will be too big. In a blink of an eye'. He has been asleep for a while now and I have to pee, but I'm going to keep holding him for as long as I can, because sooner than I can fathom he will be grown and I will long for the days when I could hold him and comfort him.

The offseason, or this first week off from training since August means a chance to sample a few new brews. This one is excellent. Hoppy, smooth, and relaxation inducing.

26.2 in 3:49:42. It was cold, fun and all sorts of hilly at the end. Goal was under 4 hours, achievement unlocked. Average heart rate was 144, and though it spiked higher than I wanted at points I worked hard to stay aerobic as much as possible. I didn't experience any sugar crash, drinking only water and eating a little dried mango, when I could feel my glycogen storage getting low. Best part my stomach didn't go all crazy because of the Gatorade and GU. Good test for the nutrition fat as fuel plan. Really fun experience.

Seattle Marathon tomorrow means picking up the bib and wandering around downtown a little bit. It is going to be a beautiful and cold day for a run.

Happy 3rd Birthday to my littlest man, Elliot. I may be a little (or a lot biased) but he has the best laugh, biggest smile and gives the absolutely best hugs. He is so very special, and each day amazes me more and more. Oh. He LOVES Wonder Woman. LOVES. We asked multiple times what kind of cake he wanted and it always was the same answer Wonder Woman.
