Saw a post on Twitter that was of a screenshot from the second aai case (technically first since it was when he was coming back to his office) and man you ever just think about Miles Edgeworth and how he's such a tragic character?
Under the cut bc I like rambling alot, but also just spoilers in general about his whole story arc.
At such a young age he already knew what he wanted to do, guy was set on being an attorney just like his dad, which honestly isn't something you see every day with kids. Like he was dead set and how he busted out wanting to do a trial over a simple money issue in elementary school? Kid was so smart for his age (also very autism and I love him)
Though things only get worse when he ends up soon suffering his father's death. He most likely has brain problems due to the oxygen loss in the elevator, he becomes deeply traumatized about elevators for god knows how long (which I'll get into later), he believes he killed his father four FIFTEEEN YEARS and is adopted and brought under the wing of the true culprit who killed his father. Not to mention Von Karma is the most corrupt prosecutor (Honestly kinda glad he got thrown under the bus by Blaise by giving him a penalty)
Due to being raised from Von Karma does he have a reputation of being unbeatable, so when his childhood friend shows up as an attorney and beats him in a case, making him loose his winning streak he's going through being so conflicted through the entire game. Not like it gets any better because Turnabout Goodbyes happens at the end of the year where he's pinned for a murder that in the end is connected to DL-6. Finds out the man that raised him then killed his father.
Then a few months later, as he trying to get over this does he find out his care is used as a crime scene and has to yet again prosecute the RFA case - where Gant humiliates him mind you.
He leaves America, telling everyone that he's dead while he was trying to discover what being a prosecutor really meant. Mind you this happens twice to him, this being the first time. Has to take over for Franziska who gets shot when he returns to America to initially help Pheonix.
He leaves again, and then to only come back in Bridge to the Turnabout after Pheonix falls from a fucking burning bridge into deathly ice cold water and has to take over the case for him until he recovers (which is just Ace Attorney logic with how he even manages)
Back to the elevator stuff....Heeeeee only a month later, while heading back to his office deals with finding a dead body in an elevator. Mind you this man has been trying to get over his trauma thats been going on for eighteen years. He then returns to his office and is held at gun point and finds out a murder happened in his office. Wacked over the head by the most traumatizing blue badger and tied up, and then thrown into a smuggling ring case and all that mess that's aai1
Deals so much more with who he is again not even a week later when he's called to investigate an assassination attempt that eventually leads him to meet his father's partner (who dosen't trust him at first mind you). Is watched over by the PIC like a goddamn hawk and is even taken off the case and is replaced by a newbie fresh out of school.
Gave up his badge after solving the whole final case of his fathers that was reaching its statue of limitations. Truly though a love letter to what his father never could finish. Of course he dosen't have his badge lost for long, no he manages to get it back a good three days later.
Mind you this was a month before Pheonix looses his badge for seven years. And a year after this the Dark Era of Law begins.
Atleast he manages to become Chief Prosecutor and helps draw out the real culprit of the UR-1 incident in the end.
But god everything before that during aa1-aai2
