Really happy about the soundtrack I wrote for this new exciting video about the festivals in India. India is unique and very complex and trying to express how I feel about it musically has been quite a ride.

The idea for this track came to me while I was staying in the remote village of Chheneng in Cambodia. The villagers next door were having a wedding. In the song, the man you hear talking through a speakerphone is the MC hosting the ceremony. His monotonous voice was all I heard, without intermission, for two days. I lack practice but I'm slowly trying to get better at writing music on paper. It opens a world of possibilities. Your imagination sets the boundaries, not your fingers/hands or your computer.

photo: husaruk.tumblr.com Last week, I spent some time in the Mont-Royal's forest to collect some wood. Yes, wood. Branches, roots and all that good stuff. It's not for some eccentric recipe I'm cooking but for the next short film I'll be scoring. The music calls for lots of "woodsy" rhythms. Therefore, I sampled various kinds of sounds, noises and hits that I later processed in the Kontakt sampler. I'll post a video about the process when the film gets released.

I recently had the pleasure of composing music for the short animated film "Frontière", created by a team of talented visual artists from Centre NAD.

Last year, I was commissioned to compose the soundtrack for a documentary called The New Great Game. The film studies the geopolitical issues between the West and the East, the importance of oil, sea-lanes and control of the Middle East.  Since the documentary takes place in Somalia, Libya, China, Egypt, Israel and many other countries, I was given the chance to musically explore blending ethnic and western instruments.  A lot of people have been asking me for a downloadable version of the soundtrack so here it is, for free!: http://music.maxll.ca/album/the-new-great-game-documentary-soundtrack
