Maxwell was sitting out on his porch reading. He heard footsteps. “ Looking for a place to sleep?” He asked as he closed the book and looked up at the person. He was glad he could give two people a place to sleep tonight.

“no, it’s fine. i wouldn’t want to bother you.” josie replied to maxwell. mostly josie found a place far away from everyone to take a few naps at a day, just in case she couldn’t sleep that night.

It felt good to be in the outside and the blonde was going to savor that feeling, even if it wasn’t as beautiful as she had hoped it would be. Closing her eyes she leaned her head against the building and let out a slow breath. “Is there no alone time here?” She glanced at the person that had come closer before reaching up to tug at the collar she couldn’t seem to get off.

“Was coming to see if you wanted to stay with me tonight?” Maxwell asked.

She didn’t want to sleep outside. Ivy was someone that was willing to play nice when she needed to and camp seemed like that kind of place. Running her fingers through her hair she pulled the mess of red locks over one of her shoulders. The tables seemed like a good place to start. People would walk by and she was guaranteed to be noticed. So she took a seat on a table top and leaned back on her hands. No one could say she didn’t know how to do things the easy way.

Maxwell smiled. “ So has anyone else talked to you?” He asked as he sat down next to her.

She pulled back from the hug and ran her fingers through her hair. “There’s a cabin or a building, we were all in there.” It didn’t seem right but she didn’t want to push her luck with Max by complaining. Cass took a step towards the bathroom before looking back at Max. “Thank you… I know I said it already but, it’ll be nice to feel normal.” She shrugged before walking into the bathroom.

“You are welcome again. “ He said as he nodded at her answer. He sat down on the bed and kicked off his shoes.  He heard the water start to run. He waited until he heard the water stop running before getting up.

She was surprized by his request and Cass wondered if it showed on her face. The blonde nodded before she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him. It wasn’t like anyone else was going to ask. She let her head rest against his chest and remained that way for a moment as she closed her eyes.

Maxwell smiled and rubbed her back. “ After the shower you can eat and then we can talk.” He said with a nod. “ Where were you staying?” He asked before letting his arms drop to his sides.

“They didn’t let us do anything. We just stayed where we were after they took everything from us.” Cass took the robe from him but remained where she was for a moment. She looked down at the robe before turning her attention to Max. “Thank you. For singing the card and not making me do anything.”

“Can I give you a hug?” He asked as he was hit with a wave of sadness.  A friend had gotten him the spot after the previous place he was using shut down.  When he got here earlier he was told it wasn’t like his old place. “ You are welcome. “ He said .

“That’s nice.” So she didn’t have to worry about someone else coming in while they were there talking. Cass walked into the cabin and looked around the room. She put the plate down the table before she looked back at Max. “Is it wrong to ask if I can use your shower?”

He came in behind her and locked the door.  He set the plate down on the table and looked up at her. “ Go right ahead. I’m sure they didn’t let you shower. “ He said as he pulled a robe out of the closet. “ You can wear this after you get out.”

He piled the plate high with one of everything. “Food for tonight and tomorrow morning.” He mentioned before smiling. “Follow me.” He said. He wanted her well fed and her strength up. 

“I do like the sound of that.” Since she had spent the last three days with nothing. Cass held the plate she had, which really just had desserts on it and followed him towards where he was staying. “Do you get your own room or do you share?”

"The owners each get our own cabin." He said as he led her to the front door of his cabin. He reached into his pocket and got the key unlocking the door. "Go in andd make yourself comfortable. " He said as he put the key back in his pocket.

“Of course just to talk. ” He whispered. “ What food would you like me to grab?” He asked . Once they got to his cabin they could talk more freely.  He grabbed a plate 

Cass nodded before following him to one of the tables. Really she was starving but the last thing she wanted to do was stuff herself because she would just feel awful later. “Anything. I’m really ready to eat anything at the moment.” She grabbed some of the desserts before smiling at him.

Confusion crossed her features when he mentioned her spending the night with him, but it was how loud he said it that made her look back towards Arlo. “But to talk right?” She hadn’t agreed to much else, but she did want to get as far away from this as possible.
