A soft hand met your wrist just before your fingers could graze the cold metal of the door handle. "Where are you going?" Her delicate voice spoke over the noisy music that boomed through the home. Looking over your shoulder, you spotted the brown-haired woman; her eyebrows fluttered in question, causing a dopey smile to form on your lips. "Home!' you called out; you knew she'd protest walking late at night was dangerous enough, and now with the fear of Ghostface's return, it made it even more risky. "You know you can't go alone." The hold around your wrist was tight but gentle, as if she feared loosening her grip would cause you to bolt.

"Why's that, Tara?" Raising a playful eyebrow, the smirk on your lips as prominent as her fear. You inched closer to her, stumbling over your feet as you did so. "You're drunk, Number 1!" You could roll your eyes at her remark, but you knew you were in no position to oppose; you were drunk, after all. "Number 2," She began warily, snapping her gaze away from yours, flipping your wrist around so your scar faced the two of you. "This." She reasoned, gently stroking the raised skin, the painful reminder of your near demise; she wondered how the one on your ribcage healed.

Tara was surprised when you unexpectedly snapped your hand out of hers; the tender moment disrupted entirely. "Don't! Don't do that." You pointed a finger, an uncontrollable frown now playing on your painted lips. The party felt unbearable at that moment; the music was too loud, the house too crowded, so without a final word, you turned and headed for the door, ignoring her pleas for you to stay with her.

Your head spun, and you wondered if it had simply been the drinks finally catching up to you; stepping into the cold night air was soothing, and despite shivering with each step you took, it was better than spending another second at the party.

You didn't make it far before the same gentle hand wrapped itself around your cold fingers, bringing them in for a warm embrace. You hated looking at Tara; you loathed being touched by her. She'd been nothing more than a reminder of the summer you wanted to forget. It pained you, however, because you did love the woman. "Can't you ever just leave me alone?" You shouted out into the quiet streets, there'd been a few stray people from the party, and Tara was aware of their looks, shyly glancing around to avoid your eyes.

She hadn't let go of your hand. Instead, she stroked her thumb against your reddened fingertips, and you wanted her to let go so badly, but you couldn't say so, not when it was something you craved so dearly. You hated how she looked, like a puppy who'd just gotten scolded, and you wanted to engulf her in a tight hug and apologize to her, but then, your mind filled with the night of your attack.

You could see glimpses of her soft, loving hands painted red with your thick blood, the same puppy-like expression on her face; you could still hear the desperate cries you let out as she whispered reassuringly to you. You realized now that no matter how badly you wanted it to be the same, it simply couldn't be. The love you shared was pure and beautiful, something you were aware you'd never find again, but it was so incredibly tainted now. You wished you could've preserved it. Tara still couldn't make sense of the breakup; none of your friends could; she never dared to question you.

Her eyes finally met yours; a worn-out, tired expression replaced her usual cheerful one. "It's dangerous." She stated plainly; her voice lacked emotion, but her eyes held so much, you knew if you stared into them long enough, you'd see everything. "How? Because there's a slight chance Ghostface is back?" You had no reason to be yelling. Tara had been nothing but calm with you. You stepped closer to her; she could smell the alcohol entangled in your breath. "You know what, Tar? If he's back, I hope he kills me this time." Your voice was suddenly so quiet, so sincere; it made Tara flinch. "You should've let me die because anything is better than this." She shook her head lightly; her breathing felt so much heavier.

"You're drunk; you don't mean that; come on, let's just go back-" She tried to drag you back inside, she told herself she wouldn't let you leave, but you'd been glued to your place, unwilling to move an inch. "I'm going home."

Her jaw clenched, eyes fluttered closed before a disbelief laugh slipped past her lips. She dropped your fingers, tucking her hands together behind her back. "You're so selfish. Do you know how fucking selfish you're being?" Her voice broke; shouting had never been her strong suit.

"Do you think it only happened to you?" She shook her head, faint tears clouded her brown eyes, but she blinked them away quickly. "It wasn't just you! You seem to forget that; you chose to go through it alone." Her shoulders dropped suddenly, letting out an unsteady breath.

"I loved you! I do! And you just forced me away; you left me! Why?" She'd been talking too much, too fast, and you wished you'd stayed inside, called for someone to pick you up instead because now you were faced with this; it was something you hoped to avoid forever. "I needed you!" It was heartbreaking, the sound of her voice, the slight tremble.

"Oh, give me a fucking break." You muttered, brushing your cold hands along your burning face; it soothed you, but it hadn't stopped the shake in your body. "Every day, I thought about you, I still do, and it seems like I am the furthest thing from your mind. I'm not even a passing thought!" She continued, but you needed her to stop; you would've begged her to stop. "You talk to Mindy, Chad, Sam! Even fucking Sam! But me? You're girlfriend; you couldn't even look at me; Why?" She'd been so close to breaking; her face contoured into a deep frown, the whites in her eyes bright red. There was nothing you could say to save her feelings; you knew that, no matter how badly you wanted to try.

"Looking at you made me sick, Tara." You'd been too calm as you spoke, and Tara wished you could've yelled it at her instead; it would've hurt less. "With you, I remember everything I don't wanna remember. You don't know how sorry I am that I hurt you." You hated the way the tears damped her face as you spoke.

The two of you became deflated; it was clear that Ghostface won, you could laugh at the irony. It made no sense yelling anymore; you'd both been exhausted. "I'm sorry." She breathed, trying to pull her lips into a straight line, but it seemed to quiver right back into the frown. She toyed with her fingers now, keeping her gaze low.

You hesitated before you reached out, something you hadn't done in months, softly brushing aside the fringe she'd cut into her hair. Her watery eyes snapped up at you; she could melt into you if she hadn't stopped herself. Your thumb stroked the soft flesh on her cheeks, brushing away the warm tears. "I can't let you walk home." Her voice had been small, eyes searching yours, hoping you could give up your fight. "Mindy would kill me." She continued; it seemed to be her distraction as if you hadn't been so close, caressing her face the way she missed.

Focusing on the soft skin under your cold fingertips, you merely nodded. Tara offered a painful smile, leaning her face into the hand placed on her warmed cheek, pressing a quick kiss to the palm of it, and overlapping her hand with yours.

It was clear that underneath all the ugly, the good was still there; you were sure you'd spend the rest of your life regretting running away.

"You're drunk." The words spilled past the frown on your lips, leaving a bitter taste on the tip of your tongue. Tara rolled her eyes, a dopey smile plastered onto her lips. "But, I'm here," she spoke matter of factly; you hesitated for a moment; she'd always do this, come late at night and be gone in the morning. Before any words could slip past your lips, Tara squeezed her way inside; a soft huff fell from your lips, slamming your door shut abruptly.

"Thought you'd be happy to see me." Tara taunted you with a soft caress on the arm, but you ripped away. "You can spend the night; take the couch." You shrugged lightly, avoiding the look on the plastered girl's face. It was sobering, having you so displeased with her arrival. "I don't want the couch." It was an old, flat sofa; it was impolite even to offer it. "You're too drunk to get home, Tara." The disappointment was all she could hear, it was loud most times, but she hated when it came in gentle looks and soft smiles. "I don't need you looking after me." She snapped, bitterness filling up her throat and pulsing at her temples.

You clenched your jaw, looking at the girl you were so sure you once knew, she had bloodshot eyes now, and her mouth reeked of whiskey,  but she was still her. She was still the girl who stayed up late, studying with you to ensure you'd pass. "So, why are you here?" Tara needed to see you that night; she wasn't even sure why; maybe it was when the man at the party kissed her or when she looked around the place and swore she'd seen you. Either way, all she could think about was you.

She overlooked your face, tired expression, and the pout that took over your lips; she missed them, how they felt, and how they tasted. She wondered if she kissed you, would you still taste like faint hints of strawberry?

"Why would you even ask me that?" Her eyebrows knitted together in anger, and her lips parted; she could feel a slight tingle throughout her body. She missed when she could drop by your house without any judgment. "It's 3 in the morning, Tara." Her eyes squinted through what seemed to be a puddle of tears. "So?" Her lips tugged downwards reluctantly.

"You never come when you're sober." It was the truth; it tightened your chest when you uttered it. "And you're never sober anymore." A sharp pain coursed through her body, her breath hitched in her throat, and you stood in front of her, arms crossed, shoulders rested, entirely calm.

"Fuck me for wanting to visit my friend, right?" her voice broke, the tears burned her deep brown eyes; her fingers balled at her sides into tight fists. You laughed lightly. "Is that all I am?" Tara began to shake her head but was confused at her reaction, she wished she could read your mind, tell you what you wanted to hear to stay one more night with you, but instead, she stood there, staring at the red in your cheeks and the small line that took place between your eyebrows.

"I'll get you a blanket." Turning on your heels, you moved slowly up the stairs, a small piece of you prayed she called out for you, but Tara never did.

Tara was right where you left her, standing there in the same place, her expression identical. "Tell me what I can do." It was a plead, a desperate attempt to feel what she once had. The words clawed out of her before she could even think about it. "Sit." Your look was tender and soft, but it reminded her just how resentful you were towards her. Tara was always envious of how forgiving you'd been; it was a trait she'd always admired in you.

Tara did as you said and sat by the pile of blankets you laid out; the sofa was just how she remembered it; she could feel the spring digging into her thigh. Her makeup was a smeared mess, her hair fully unruly, but that didn't help the pound of your heart when you saw her because even like this, she was still the most beautiful girl.

You passed a hand over the crown of her head, attempting to tame the flyaways; it was a tender gesture that you didn't even think twice about, but it was something that Tara found herself craving most nights. Her eyes burned into yours despite yours never meeting hers.

"You need some help, Tara."  She heard it frequently from Sam, but there was something about the way you said it, it made her chest burn, and her eyes welled up with tears. Your hand found her cheek, caressing softly at the freckled skin, and she melted into it entirely. "I know." That was one of the reasons she found herself back at your place so many nights; she felt grounded with you. Tara knew her drinking was out of control; she knew it by the way she was failing classes, losing relationships, and missing out on life, but it certainly helped. She wasn't sure there was anything to soothe her taunting brain, so she drank; Tara drank it all away, but sitting in front of you now, she felt like nothing.

"Good, because I miss you." Your thumb swiped under her eyelid, collecting a mixture of makeup and tears; she looked so fragile and hopeless, nothing compared to the girl you knew before; a shaky breath spilled past her lips, letting her body weight settle between you and the couch. "You can start tomorrow." She nodded to your words; a kind but pitiful smile tugged at the corners of your lips. Tara could do this forever; she could do the gentleness and soft-spoken tones; she could do the calm with you; she could promise to love you forever and go along with whatever you asked because the girl never had such unconditional love; it was something she needed.  

"Let's go to bed." You brushed a gentle kiss to her hairline, this was routine, and it always ended the same; you always allowed her back in, you knew you'd regret it once the sun was up, but that was a problem for tomorrow.

With every step you took guiding her into your room, your guard broke more and more until you both were in bed, nuzzled into your warm sheets. You couldn't be firm when it came to her, could never stand on your word but laying in the still room with her, feeling the soft caress of her fingertips on your spine, it always felt like a reward.

When Tara dared to move closer, nuzzling into you entirely, she could smell the sweet scent of your perfume and the warmth that radiated off of you. "Can you promise me something?" She spoke, letting her bloodshot eyes fall closed when you hummed, fingers shyly finding hers under the blanket. "Don't give up on me." The room was quiet, leaving Tara to feel like a wounded animal on display; you squeezed lightly at her fingertips. "Never." She felt like she could breathe again as she dipped her head deeper into your shoulder. It wasn't fair to ask you to stick around;  Tara knew that, but she needed you.  

"I won't be messed up forever." She uttered in hopes that you believed her, brushing a kiss against your shoulder. "I know, Tar."

You could only hope in the morning; she's still here.

After Eugene's unfortunate incident, it seemed to leave a mark on Wednesday. Nearly every night, the girl would wake up in a cold sweat, gasping frantically for air, looking around the dark room desperately. The nightmares were always the same and ended the same. No matter what she did differently in the dreams, it'll always result in your demise, and each night, it would paralyze her with dread.

The nightmares forced her to witness you die over and over. She began to loathe the night, almost afraid of falling asleep. She could not stomach the thought of something happening to you, but the dreams were always in great detail. Wednesday feared it wasn't dreams but instead visions that came to her in a different form. Perhaps, it might be fate; she'd do anything to prevent that from happening.

Wednesday rose from her bed; her trembling feet met the cold wooden floor. She needed to see you for herself to ensure that you were well. She knew she could not return to bed without easing her pounding heart. "Wednesday?" a voice called out;  the flick of the light made Wednesday squint; Enid looked concerned at the state of her roommate. "Go back to sleep, Enid." her voice was dry, and her throat burned; wiping her hairline, she brushed away the droplets of sweat.

"Are you okay? You're shaking," Enid asked with concern. Enid could see the faint tears that clouded Wednesday's eyes.

"I'm fine." She avoided her worried eyes. "Go to sleep." with that, Wednesday left her dorm, she knew she could get caught sneaking around the campus, but that had been the least of her concern. She didn't want to talk to anyone about her nightmares, especially not Enid. She knew Enid would be overbearing and want to shower her in love, Enid had a good heart, but there wasn't anyone else she wanted right now but you.

When she softly knocked on the door, her heart dropped at the lack of movement in the dorm until Yoko pulled the door open, eyeing her with confusion written on her expression. "Wednesday, it's 3 in the-"

"Enid is having a crisis." Yoko's eyes went wide, and she nodded quickly and pushed her way out the door. Once Yoko was out of sight, the girl stepped into the room, her eyes immediately finding your sleeping form. A sigh of relief left her lips as she made her way over. You looked peaceful enough, eyes fluttered closed and lips slightly parted. She hated to disturb you, but a small piece of her wanted nothing more. She called your name softly, a single finger sticking out to gently poke your cheek.

Your eyes snapped open suddenly; a soft yelp slipped past your lips; she took a quick step back at your response. "Wednesday?" you croaked out, squinting your eyes at her. "You nearly gave me a heart attack." You let out a gentle breath, leaning back into your bed.

"Sorry..." she trailed off, feeling guilty for interrupting you.

"It's alright," you replied, letting out a yawn. "What happened?" Wednesday took the opportunity to sit on the edge of your bed; she wasn't sure how to approach the topic. Wednesday flinched slightly when a soft hand found her back before easing into your touch.

"You're going to die." Her words seemed so sincere and broke as if god came down and told her himself of your destiny. A soft laugh slipped past your lips, but then she let out a soft sniffle, and all you felt was concern for your girlfriend.

"Wednesday... Where did you get that from?" You asked quietly, your hand softly rubbing circles into her back. Wednesday was tense, afraid that a single touch from you would have her head thrown back with a vision, and it would confirm just what she feared, but as you touched her, nothing happened.

"I dream it; every night." She felt some relief finally getting it off her chest. You sat up suddenly, your hand still pressed against her back; your movement caused the girl to glance over her shoulder, finding you sat on your knees beside her. Your hand found her shoulder, giving it a tight squeeze.

"Wednesday, It's nightmares. What happened to Eugene scared all of us." She let her shoulders drop, a soft sigh escaped her lips, leaning into you slightly. "But I'm going to be okay." You reassured, leaning down and pressing a gentle kiss against her neck. She could shiver at the sensation, letting her tired eyes fall closed. "And so will Eugene." You mumbled into her neck, causing Wednesday to nod.

"I know it's scary, but I'm right here." Wednesday shifted until she got a clear look at you; her soft hand reached up and found your cheek, her thumb caressing softly on your cheekbone. She wanted to feel you, make sure this hadn't just been another nightmare.

"If you have another one, you come here, okay?" She nodded, tugging you lightly until she could press the softest kiss to your lips. You always had a way of relaxing her; she felt safe with you and trusted you entirely.

"Do you want to go back to sleep?" You spoke in a hushed tone; your forehead leaned against hers; there was a slight panic at the thought of having to relive such things, but there was some comfort knowing you'd be there, so she nodded.

You smiled lightly, leaning back into your bed and opening your arms for Wednesday. She eyed you lightly and felt frozen in her place. You could see the hesitation in her eyes before she sighed and settled into your bed, letting herself snuggle into your chest. Her arm looped around your waist, eyes fluttered close. "This is pleasant." She spoke softly, a small smile tugging at her lips. You hummed back in agreement, pressing a warm kiss to her hairline.

For the first time in a week, Wednesday felt eased, and only then did she sleep peacefully.

There was a glum look on your face when you entered Wednesday's dorm. You dragged your feet along the floor, quickly laying down on her bed. A deep breath escaped your lips as soon as your head hit her pillow. "What's with the melodramatic sighs?" Wednesday perked up, turning her entire body to you. She took in your appearance. Your cheeks were red, and a deep frown tugged onto your lips. Wednesday didn't get around to seeing you much that day due to the parents visiting; her day was hectic. She was delighted you decided to stop by.

"Your absence today was unfortunate."  She missed you, and you knew that was her way of saying it. "My parents didn't show up." Her eyebrows knitted together, overlooking you entirely. She could recall how excited you were, expressing that your family told you they'd show; she wondered why they had such a sudden change of heart. "So, I spent the day with Xavier; he took me out for ice cream." Wednesday never appreciated how close the two of you were, but today, she found it comforting to know someone was there when she couldn't be.

"Why didn't you tell me? As rotten as my parents are, they would've welcomed you." You knew you'd have to meet her parents, but if you were honest, you felt intimidated. There was an underline fear that they wouldn't like you. "I didn't want to intrude." you shrugged, causing the woman to sigh, her expression softened.

"You could never." Wednesday, oftentimes, seemed cold and heartless, but there was another side to her, one that you'd been fortunate enough to know. It was that side of her that kept you near. "Do you want to lay here and sulk all day?" Despite her wording, her tone was soft and inviting. You shrugged, burying your face deeper in her pillow. Sighing softly, she rose from her seat at her desk; your eyes followed her, watching as she kicked off her shoes. "Move over." She noticed the confusion written over your face; it nearly brought a smile to her lips.

"Don't make me tell you again." You noticed the growing smirk that tugged at her lips. "Are you going to strangle me?" you teased, moving over to the other side of the bed. You only grew more confused when the girl joined you, her hand softly met your hip before she turned you over.

"I'm going to hold you." She knew it'd make you feel better, and she'd do anything to ensure your happiness. She shifted awkwardly until she was settled into you, her body firmly pressed against yours. Her chin rested in the crook of your neck, letting out a gentle breath. "Is that okay?" You hummed softly, nodding; it was more than okay. Cuddling was foreign; even being close to another person was strange for Wednesday, but with you, it felt normal.

"I'm sorry your parents didn't show." She muttered into your neck; there was a soft shrug of your shoulders; you had been glad she couldn't see your face because she'd see the disappointment written all over it. "I'm used to it, Wednesday. They always do this." Her fingers toyed with the hem of your shirt; she could feel the sorrow buried inside of you.  

When you first became involved with the Addams girl. she was persistent that she wouldn't be good for you. Wednesday claimed she was unapologetically egocentric; and would never have your feelings in mind, but you soon realized that Wednesday was the most constant and reliable person you'd ever had the pleasure of knowing.

She had trouble seeing the good in herself; that was the one thing you loathed about her. Wednesday softly pecked your shoulder, causing you to roll onto your back and look up at her. You reached forward, poking out a finger, and gently brushed it through her messy bangs. "I love you." The girl wasn't good at voicing her emotions, but her face had trouble concealing them.

Her lips parted, and for a second, you thought she'd utter it back, but instead, Wednesday leaned down, and her lips brushed against yours. It was an awkward kiss; neither of you was great with romance or affection. Still, there was something nice about how her soft lips pressed against yours as if she were giving you all she could.

Your hand softly rested against her cheeks, pulling her impossibly closer until all you could feel were her gentle lips against yours. She pulled away suddenly when a loud screech came from the doorway; Wednesday snapped her head over to the direction of the noise, staring back at her roommate; she wore a big smile.

"Do not speak a word of this, Enid!"
