We know you won’t see this, but being deeply saddened by the whole situation, we decided we’d make our own post to talk about how we feel and how we are seeing the fandom being affected.
Yes, Zac, you never hid your beliefs and we guess now we can’t really turn a blind eye anymore. Your Pinterest was full of memes that have offended many people in this fandom. You called them “silly comparisons” or “just a joke”, but even if you didn’t intend to offend anyone, you did! Your fans are telling you loud and clear that they feel hurt, but you don’t feel the need to acknowledge those feelings at all!
However, your wife felt the need to reprimand everyone who is disappointed in you’re actions, saying we ‘lambasted’ you. You who, kate said, care so much about us that you now feel hurt. But Zac, if you care so much about us why don’t you care about how we feel?
You cannot try to make us feel bad because of the actions you did!!
Because this is exactly what it’s happening: yes, some of us are defending our beliefs, but many are just feeling hurt because they are who they are and who they are is something you don’t like!
You said you want everyone “to live up to their greatest potential, to confess love for each other”, is it what you think you did?
What you did is gaslighting. You posted offensive images. Images which depict a large portion of your fans: gay, lesbian, trans, female, and now you’re upset because you got caught and we should feel sorry for you? WE are the ones to feel hurt. You are the one who should be reflecting on your behaviour and understanding why people are offended. And then possibly when/if you have regrets, an apology.
