astrcnautical:
jim squirmed a bit, joints popping as he did so – the blond did his very best to ignore how joanna’s hands were wandering his body, teasing just enough to get him riled. he closed his eyes as jo’s hand rubbed at the knots for muscles on his shoulders, enjoying the sensation as tension slowly seeped from his tired body; sitting up at his desk so much had its consequences. a soft groan managed to slip his closed lips, eyes opening to see just how much jo’s skirt had rode up. shit.
“ – feels good” he admitted softly, swallowing back another enthusiastic sound from jo’s fingers against his aching shoulders. “do you do this for everyone?”
she could already feel that his muscles were relaxing underneath her ideas. but this also meant joanna was beginning to get to him. while his lips and words could lie, a body could not. bodies reacted so naturally to the environment around them and it was difficult to force them to not react how they might wish. in this case, jim’s body was behaving in the exact way a male’s normally does when a woman touched it.
“oh no. just those special folk.” she whispers in a low voice as she removes her hands from his shoulder, letting her fingers linger ever so gently upon him before dropping them. “glad that it feels good.”
‘ i’m sure you knowing, being a doctor and all, that the human body needs rest. that means your body. ’ she speaks in a rather stern tone, marching into his office and taking away all of his paperwork and his PADD. ‘ you’ve been on the clock for almost twenty-four hours which is, actually, illegal. so, off to bed. go. ’
@spacehated

Leonard stared at his baby girl, heart breaking. He barely resisted pulling her into a hug–keep her safe from the world. But, he knew that the hugging could come later. “Joanna,” he asked softly, gently, earnestly, “Who is the bastard son of a bitch?”
Honestly, she was smart enough to know he had a keen eye and had worked with many people in situations he never wanted his daughter in–and somehow she was. She’d not have been able to hide it much longer. It hurt that Bones hadn’t noticed sooner.
“Dad, no.” She immediately speaks, scooting off of the counter to stand directly in front of him, hand placed on his chest. “It’s nothing that you need to get involved with.” While part of Joanna loved the idea of her father decking Cadd in the face she also knew that ti could never happen. These two were not allowed to meet.
Eyes look up at him in a plead fashion, lips even pouting slightly. “Please, just, drop it. I don’t need this turning into a big mess.” Jo pleads him, lips almost pouting at him.
stcrbcund:
“Aye, I was much the same at your age. I’d barely turned eighteen when I left home to work on a freighter. My passage into the Academy wasn’t as smooth as I’d first anticipated. Apparently ambition and egotism are not the same thing.” He chuckled, scratching the back of his head with a smirk. There were a few things that his teenage self could have learned about humility, after all it had been his pride more than anything else that had seen his application rejected twice before a fortunate encounter with a Starfleet vessel having trouble with her warp core that brought him to their attention. He tried not to grimace at her comments about his beloved ship, raising his brow. “Oh your Dad’s told ye that, did he? Funny how I don’t remember it quite like that. Your old man has a habit of exaggeratin’ the truth, if yanno what I mean.”
“Mine could have been a lot more rough if my mother knew. There is no way that she would have let me come here if she knew what it was really for. She thinks I went to San Francisco to work at a hospital in the city.” Joanna explains with a gentle laugh, though she realizes how poor of a situation that it. She could not share the exciting news with her mother and her father didn’t know until she was here. While it was difficult, she knew that it was necessary. Jo gives a slight laugh, “He exaggerates everything, don’t worry about him. He once described the time I scrapped my knee as losing a leg.” Her head shakes a bit but she is still beaming from ear to ear. “I’m glad I get to work with him.”
stcrbcund:
He couldn’t help the smile that flitted across his features as the young woman spoke of her happiness at being aboard. He sometimes forgot about the demand there was to be assigned to their vessel. The Enterprise was the pride of the fleet, and this time he had had a hand in her creation. It was because of this that he was so unbelievably nervous at the prospect of her loss. “Huh! Not many can say that, can they? Ye must’ve had quite the GPA, I reckon.” He paused, wondering if she’d heard about the Enterprise’s unique personality. “I dunno if they told ye, but, uh… she’s not quite like you’re average starship, yanno?”
“I graduated high school early and everything. I just couldn’t wait to do something with my life.” She muses with a big grin, adjusting the weight on her feet. It was odd to think that she was young and was already upon the Enterprise as a nurse but she also loved it. Being so young meant she had so much more time to experience everything. “I’ve heard plenty about this ship. My dad’s told me all of the stuff you’ve all gone through and how this ship always ends up broken. Sounds like it’ll be fun.”
a small update on my nerve: i have to get an EMG test in a couple of weeks because the doctor thinks my ulnar nerve or my C6/C7/C8 nerve is not working properly. until then i have to take it easy on my arm so as not to worsen it. my activity will probably drop a bit until i can figure this out. sorry guys !! but i will still try to do stuff !!
scarificed:
there’s a look of surprise, the man not expecting anyone to prefer that awkward lump of stars over something of actual shape. ‘i guess – keeps y’ breathin’, at least.’
“it does.” she smiles a bit more at the heart-shape in the sky before looking back to the man at her side. “i suppose staying alive is romantic.”
captainiissm:
JIM IS CERTAINLY blushing now as he turns slightly so that joanna can place the necklace around his neck. the captain knows that he will keep it forever, tucked away and hidden. it’s a symbol of how far he’s come from the trouble making little shit head to the adult shit head who still causes trouble but now he has a family. the concept is a novel one and it makes a flurry of emotions swell up inside him. “ thanks. ” he says again, this time softly. “ i really mean it, joanna. ” he goes in to give the woman another hug. this one though, a much longer and solid hug.
she did not expect his hug but it was welcomed, returned with just as much love asit was given to her. jim was a big part of her family now and she wanted to make sure that he was aware of it, wanted to make some grand gesture. jo was a little unsure of how he would take it but she was glad that he liked it. glad he saw the meaning behind it. “you’re one of us now. so you better get to an even MORE annoying bones. yes, it is possible.”
little to no replies until the middle of the week. i’ve got a big test coming up that i’m spending all my time studying for. thanks for being understanding !!
stcrbcund:
“Aye, it’s difficult to know how to take your old man. He’s a bit of an enigma at the best of times.” That might have been a bit of an understatement. The truth about McCoy was that he was quite tight-lipped with his personal details, only ever sharing what he deemed necessary to share, and even then the information was limited. Scotty imagined his guardedness had a lot to do with the hurt he had suffered at the hands of his ex-wife. He was never too shy to remind them how she had left him with little more than the clothes on his back after the divorce. The engineer was glad to see, at least, that their daughter was able to make something of her life despite all the turbulence in her younger years. “So, uh, have ye just joined the crew with the new recruits?”
“He’s...something. I’ll give you that.” Perhaps it was because she knew the side of him that many people didn’t but Joanna never saw her father as some mysterious and rather grumpy figure. In her eyes, he was her father and had one of the kindest hearts in the world. Sometimes she couldn’t even father how kind and caring he could be but, as it turned out, many people on the ship did not know that about him. He put a wall up and refused to let anyone know the truth about who he was- probably to avoid being hurt again. A gentle smile crosses her face, head giving a nod, “Yes, sir. I was able to graduate from the academy early and got placed upon the Enterprise. I couldn’t be happier.”
thefleetsfinest:
Though there was a lot to be worried about, the dangers of space travel just being one of them, Leonard was for the most part happy for his daughter. He had always done his best to support his little girl in any life choices she made for herself, it was probably one of the hardest things about parenting in his opinion. Though as he looked at his daughter something told him that his ex-wife had no idea that their little girl was currently with him in space and he wasn’t particularly looking forward to that fight when she did eventually find out.
There was no doubt in Leonard’s mind that his daughter couldn’t handle anything that was thrown at her, sure he hadn’t actually seen her in action but he knew just how smart she was. That and the fact that she was a McCoy assured him that she would no doubt adjust to the enterprise just fine. “I’m sure you will kiddo, you were always the smart one in the family.”
“I am sure I can wrangle you up a map, and if you ever get lost almost everyone here is pretty damn friendly so all you gotta do is ask if you need help with something.” he said with a bit of a nod.
She had to cover her tracks, to make sure that her father didn’t accidentally let it slip to her mother that she was here. “And mom wanted me to tell you that she has a lot going on so don’t call her for a few weeks- no like you were going to before. I already let her know that I made it safe and sound.” If her mother found out then the young McCoy had no doubt that Jocelyn would find her way all the way out here just to drag her back home.
Joanna moves to wrap an arm around his side, resting her head on his shoulder with a grin. There was no where else in the world that she would rather be than right here with her father. He was so important to her that sometimes it was hard for even Jo to describe it. “I’m glad I can to be here with you, dad. I finally get to learn from the best.”
“Well, come on! Give me a tour of my new home.”
thefleetsfinest:
“You would be surprise at what a baby can get their hands on.” he swallowed down the bit of sting that came with her calling him out on just how much he had probably missed. Jocelyn may have been the one to kick him out, but he was just as much to blame for the way things ended as she was.
“I don’t remember...” She mumbles in a low voice, clearing her throat a little bit as she goes back to work on bandaging his injury. It does not take long until Joanna is sitting back on her legs with a small smile. “Well, I think you’re going to live.”
