My living room at home sympbolizes similar ideas in orientalism bc of the contrast in furniture and the choices to put them together. In the video was mentioned a baroque chair and Dutch plates and a foreign carpet, mirroring my living room having two different patterned couches, a fuzzy creme modern rug, mixed w white and brown furniture, gave me a sense of orientalist style rather than romantics.

Here at school I also realized I have many colorful headbands full of patterns that resemble this style of baroque. The repetitive patterns within the fabric show the intricacy and elegance created in the style while still looking uniform and like a pattern. The way colors are used in the headbands are similar to the use of colors in baroque style. The subtle use of flowers and curved edges, shapes and lines resemble the art of baroque style you would see on a wall or fabric of furniture.

My cultural identification heavily relies on design. I feel that makeup is a strong source of design that has a lot to do with culture. I feel as though makeup can shape what culture you are in based on how you use the design to express yourself. This could vary in the amount of makeup someone wishes to wear or how they use said makeup in their everyday lives. In different cultures one might prefer paler skin while another may wish to look sun kissed, therefore the design will change to use more bronzer to provide for the look of being out in the sun. I believe that this is how a lot of categories of makeup work. Preference over a lot of blush or none and the length and shape of your eyes you can create through makeup which allows you fit into a specific culture of your choice. Furthermore, this is how I separate myself into a specific culture relying on design and the use of design.

I picked a scapula bone for showing transition in dimension. In my anatomy lab we have to be able to distinguish bones from other types of bones, their left bone from their right, and where they belong. When transitioning a bone from one dimension to another the bone can lose its proper shape or shading that it gives off in a picture. Therefore, in times of an artist drawing anatomical features their drawings can be inaccurate due to the change in dimension. Making sure every line and curve is where it’s supposed to be and taking into account what the back/front of the bone always looks like can help in being careful when illustrating.

These cookies are good design because of the appeal of the cookie. The inspiration of good design comes from the taste of the cookie of course, but the added on aesthetic of a well iced cookie is an inspiration for good design so the cookie looks more appealing. I would communicate the importance of the good design is the preciseness of the icing, the bright color scheme and the accuracy of the icing from one cookie to another, making them all look coherent. I would describe the cookie to a prospective end user that they are well crafted hand iced homemade cookies, while being fun look almost perfect with intricate detail and an overall captivating apprearence. The imposed constraint of the cookies are the icing and cookie batter that is baked in the oven while the inherent constraint is that it is made to portray a llama, or and design wanted.

The ladders in college dorm rooms are a design problem. Dealing with living in a a 11.5′ x 13′ foot room with two other girls, accommodating space and planning what can fit where is a struggle. Lofting our beds seemed to be the best option to save space. Except for when lofting requires use of a ladder, making the room feel even smaller with three ladders sticking out to the middle of the room. I found an alternative way to use my desk to get up to my bed not requiring the use of the ladder. However, a way to fix this design problem would be to change the hinges that attach to the bed from being at an angle on the ladder to be directly up and down. Doing so the ladder would sit flat against the bed only taking up way less than half the space of an angled out ladder.
