hi all. iāve been looking forward to this group for a while. iām so excited to see your characters on the dash and to see how they all develop. iām elle and iām playing the now president of the united states, jane anderson, dubbed as plain jane by some.
( patricia clarkson. fifty eight. she/her ). Ā ! Ā the washington post reports ā JANE ANDERSON, from BEDFORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE has been appointed to the position of THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. they are known to be DISTANT and sometimes even PASSIVE, but their supporters will tell you that they are ELOQUENT and are also NURTURING. the post believes they are an interesting pick for the position due to their stance on FOREST PRESERVATION. but with this white house, weāll have to see how it goes.
jane grew up in new hampshire and was the eldest of three daughters. she Ā assumed responsibility for them from a young age. not only did she care about them, she also felt pressure from her parents. jane was always the most compliant as her parents were stern and she was scared of what the possible consequences were if she spoke out of turn or went against her. all she ever wanted to do was please them. always an observer, she preferred to learn through watching others and wasn;t usually one to take risks. she wanted to make her parents proud and the only way she felt like she could do that was throwing herself into her studies.
of course, they encouraged jane and deemed her the āsmartā one of their three daughters but this came with expectations. it was difficult for her, too many times she was close to breaking but she managed to keep her head above water. there wasnāt much support given to her emotionally. her father was old fashioned and believed that sensitivity was weak and he didnāt want his daughterās growing up without needing to hope their own. jane was quietly caring, with a tender touch, it managed to go unnoticed as far as her father was concerned. she was proclaimed a role model iin her fatherās eyes and would stay that way after putting so much effort into it.
all of her hard work was rewarded when her father offered to pay all expenses for her to go to college. she did have a saturday job and had been saving up but he admired her work ethnic and saw that it needed to be rewarded.
she studied political science at harvard and was a professor before becoming a politician. she became a representative of new hampshire in 2002 and served as the house minority whip from 2005-2009. the woman relies heavily on the theories that she has studied over the years and she feels like they have greatly contributed to her success.jane is passionate about the environment but always felt like it was never pushed hard enough.
her relationship with her parents was strained when she finally told them that she was in love with a woman, that she had only ever loved women. while her mother was conservative and wasnāt pleased about the reveal, she didnāt completely shun her like her father did. it was a loss to her but nora was worth it. she made her happy, made her feel complete so she couldnāt dwell on something she couldnāt control, even if it didnāt make it hurt any less.
politics has always been something that she has wanted to be involved with, she just waited to enter with the hope of minimising damage; the more knowledgeable she was, the less mistakes she would make. one thing perfectly clear about jane anderson is that sheās not sloppy. she has a great understanding of political activities, thoughts and behaviours that are exhibited and uses situations to her advantage by taking a psychological stand-point.
as the state was in a state of distress, she didnāt have time to think about anything else other than been sworn it. it did scare her, how she was escorted into what only could be described as a fancy panic room and a few hours later, she was president of the united states, the first female president of the united states.
she never wanted to be president. jane considers herself more of a pawn than a player when it comes to the political game. being a woman, an openly homosexual one, she isnāt everyoneās first pick or even tenth. sheās still in shock from the attack and the first month is a complete blur to her. hard decisions had to be made and itās her way of coping. perhaps sheās looking over her shoulder now more than ever; she would have been on the hit list.Ā once she had wanted this but she feels so in over her head as sheās unprepared and the cabinet is a mess ever since the assassinations. the woman is extremely paranoid about what has happened and feels like thereās a bulls-eye on her back. she has upgraded security for herself and everyone close to her
failure had always been a big fear of hers and it still is. the woman loves a challenge but only when she feels in control. some had seen her as a pawn as she didnāt always voice what she truly believes; there is always a right time and a right place to voice such ideas. successful politics was usually down to location and timing and she makes sure that everything is said on time but is never rushed as people make mistakes on record and theyāre quoted back at a later date. jane has always been a negotiator, it was her job and she had the responsibility to her party to twist the views of others in the house so that bills that she believed in were presented to the house and were passed. jane has always been very good at picking her battles, the battles that she can win and she wonāt accept anything else.
jane isnāt ideal for the presidency role, not when she can see her vice president would be a lot more suited to the job. sheās soft spoken but does have the ability to listen which couldnāt be said for most of the previous white house staff. she doesnāt always follow advice, mostly out of panic and thoughts relating to ulterior motive, but she definitely makes an effort to hear people.
she loves her wife so much and wants to lean on her more but feels like the presidency automatically distances her from her. there are some things that nora canāt know, that she doesnāt have clearance to know and itās making jane feel less and less honest with her; sheās not transparent with her, her job doesnāt allow her to be.
there is pressure for her to form a complete and strong cabinet but thatās easier said than done when disaster is left, right and centre.
