She didn’t dare disrupt someone in the midst of their creative process but the second he stopped harmonizing and realized she was standing there her palm stretched outward opening and closing. “I should accept payment for this moment, I probably should take a picture to commemorate it. You tell me that I’m the one who needs a vacation and don’t know how to stop working— now look at you, working.”

        **.≼ ╱ MAJOR screwed his facial features briefly. “payment?” with his free hand, he waved her off. “i’m a producer, meaning if i hear a sound, i am liable to hear what it could turn into given the right moment. it’s not necessarily work if i’m not in a studio, now is it?” he combatted, skillfully pivoting his wrist to turn his hand in order to shoot her a bird. “you weren’t complaining when i turned a trip to the art museum into ‘blow,’ now did you? see, if the moment hits, then it hits. sue me.”

JOELLE was casually wondering around the slightly crowded event, offering friendly smiles to every familiar face she passed before stumbling upon MAJOR who seemed to be in the middle of creating something. Her nosey nature peeked out as she leaned some to see what he was doing, giggling out as he noticed her view. “Uh uh, don’t stop now! What was that a new song or something? I need the inside scoop.” She spoke, smiling as she motioned towards his phone with her hand. “You tryna’ put me on the track? ‘Cause you be making hits and you know.. I can spit a lil’ something. A hot 15.. Ain’t that what people be saying?”

        **.≼ ╱ MAJOR lifted his hands in a mock line of defense. “alright, alright. you caught me.” he glanced at his phone briefly, then pocketed the device. “i don’t know if it’s a new song yet. i just heard something in my head, so i had to record it before i lost the idea.” he explained simply. while she spoke about possibly featuring on one of his productions, his facial expression changed. “a hot fifteen?” he emitted a deep breath, maintaining his focus on her before a laugh followed. “it’s usually sixteen, but i’ve worked with less. if you are serious, i’m sure we can work something out. don’t get in the booth and start clowning, though!”

         **.≼ ╱ MAJOR quietly observed the trl premiere eventgoers. his attention span lessened swiftly, rerouting his focus on the sounds of the event rather than the participants. habitually, he removed his phone from his pocket to record the natural melodies of the event. after nearly thirty seconds, he ended the recording. he brought the device towards his ear, listening to the playback carefully. consistently, he replayed the recording while humming an additional melody atop of it. “that’s why i’m never ever never ever..” he paused his low singing, chuckling to himself once he realized his musical action was being examined. “you didn’t see that. what’s up, though? how you feeling tonight?” he asked the familiar face.
