"Of course," Ricardo replied "it’s not really a movie without popcorn."  He said while silently wondering to himself why popcorn of all things became the number one movie snack; he then laughed at himself for thinking really stupid things.  Ricardo then saw the bottles of coke in her hand and remembered how he was thinking about how much he needed one all day. "And coke too? I knew you were an excellent writer, but I had no idea you were a mind reader."

"That's good and also true," Rose smiled. Rose laughed at Ricardo's comment. "Of course I am. My mind reading skills are some of the best," she joked.

Ricardo walked in after Rose. Her room was messy, but not nearly as messy as she had built it up to be.  He looked around as he agreed “Yeah, it’s not like they give us a whole lot of room to put things anywhere, but your room is nice regardless.”  He then looked out the window, where the view of the Common Garden and everyone in it was just, as Rose said, amazing.

"Tell me about it," Rose smiled. "They were a bit tight in spacing. But thank you." Rose began to rummage around in her bedside table and pulled out a bag of popcorn, along with two bottle of cokes from her sort of 'well hidden' mini fridge. "You like popcorn?" Rose asked.

Ricardo laughed and shook his head.  ”Nothing compares to the mess my room was before I cleaned it up earlier.”

Rose laughed along with him. "I call it the creators mess," She grinned. As they reached Rose's room, Rose unlocked the door and held it open for Ricardo as she walked through. "It's not much," she smiled, " But the views from the window are amazing."

Ricardo smiled in agreement, with him being a Junior as well, he had quite a few stairs to walk up himself everyday.  ”Yeah, you’d think a fancy school like Sodalis would invest in an elevator or two,” he joked.

Rose nodded along with a small laugh, "Yeah, you'd think so." They weren't too far from Rose's room now. "I'm going to apologize in advance for any form of mess there may be in my room," she said with a smile. "I wasn't expecting us to come up to my room," Rose added.

"Sounds good to me," Ricardo agreed.  "Cafeteria food pretty much sucks anyway," he joked. He then began to walk with Rose to her room.

Rose laughed, "It does suck." Rose's room was on the third floor which gave her some great views from her window which gave her a lot of inspiration to write, but the great views came with a cost of many flights of stairs. "It's annoying having to go up this many stairs," she commented.

Ricardo nodded his head “yeah, I guess so.”  ”Was there something else you had in mind for us to do?” He asked, not really sure himself what he wanted to do.

"I have a few movie-type snacks up in my room that we can take to your room?" Rose suggested. She continued on, "And if we're hungry later we can always come back down here?"

Ricardo’s nerves seemed to flee his body as Rose sat down.  ”Hey,” he greeted back. He didn’t know what else to say, so Ricardo just asked “so anything in particular that you would like to eat?”  He didn’t normally eat in the cafeteria.

Rose rested her elbows on the table, something her dad didn't used to like, and shrugged lightly. "Pizza's always a good option. Movie food," Rose said with an almost grin. "For some reason I feel like it's too early to eat, though?" She asked more than stated, after all it had only just recently turned 3pm.

Right after his band class ended, Ricardo quickly dropped off his guitar to his dorm room. He then wen to the cafeteria to meet Rose.  He was really excited to hang out with her, almost to the point where he had butterflies fluttering around in his stomach.  Ricardo couldn’t believe he was feeling this way and he would never admit it to anyone;  he had trouble even admitting it to himself.  He thought Rose was a really great person and he liked how much they had in common, he had never met someone who he had so much in  common with since coming to Sodalis.

After finally getting to the cafeteria, Ricardo saw no sign of Rose yet and he sat at one of the tables to wait

Rose was starting to feel somewhat nervous in a way she had never felt nervous before as she put her British Lit book away neatly in her bag. They'd planned to meet in the cafeteria, which is where she was heading now. With her hands in her pockets to her hoodie, Rose thought back to her time yesterday with Ricardo and how much she found herself enjoying her time with him. They had much more in common than what she thought they were going to have and Rose found herself waning to know more about him.

As Rose reached the cafeteria she hovered outside for a moment and quickly caught a glimpse of Ricardo. She smiled to herself before making her way over to the table he was sat at. "Hey," Rose spoke as she sat down in front of him.

Ricardo nodded with a smile “right after.”

"I can't wait," Rose smiled.

Ricardo shook his head “No, my room is fine.”  He stopped walking and then said “we should meet up in the cafeteria after school and we can eat before the movie.”

Rose stopped walking a second after Ricardo did and nodded. "Yeah, that'd be nice." She looked up at him and smiled before asking, "So straight after class we'll meet there?"

Ricardo smiled, happy Rose agreed to spend more time with him.  ”If you’re not busy tomorrow, we could hang out in my room and watch it… Or yours… Whichever you prefer,” Ricardo suggested.

Rose nodded. "Yes, It'll be great," she smiled back. Rose found herself quite excited for tomorrow now. "We can watch it at yours," she said ,"If you want to watch it at yours, I mean." Rose was suddenly feeling quite nervous although happy to spend more time with Ricardo.

Ricardo looked surprised “Labryinth? That movie is amazing.”  He then thought for a second “But I’ve never seen 500 Days of Summer.  Maybe you could watch it with me sometime?”  Ricardo felt really nervous asking,even though he was comfortable talking to Rose.  He just hoped he didn’t look as nervous as he felt.

Rose grinned. "Yes, it's amazing," she replied. "David Bowie plays a great role too." Rose looked up at Ricardo and smiled before nodding, hopefully not coming across as too excited by him asking. She blushed lightly, and she hoped it wasn't too obvious, before saying, "You definitely need to watch it. So yes, I'd like that."

Ricardo smiled “Those are all really good choices, I’m glad you have good music taste.”  Ricardo then searched his mind and responded “I’m a pretty big fan of Alkaline Trio.” “What about your favorite movie?” he asked.

Rose nodded in an approval sort of way to Ricardo's artist choice. "Very nice," she smiled. "Uhm, probably 500 Days of Summer or Labyrinth, have you seen either of those?" she asked. "What's your favorite?"

"I’m from Houston," he replied simply. "Who’s your favorite artist?" He continued.  Ricardo then laughed "sorry if this sounds like twenty questions. I just want to get to know you."

"Oh god," Rose laughed before trying to put on her best 'concentration' face whilst thinking. "I think it's definitely a three way tie between The Beatles, Nirvana and The Smiths. Try and make me pick a favorite out of those three and we may be here for a few hours." Rose liked the fact Ricardo wanted to get to know her; not many people wanted to do that. "I don't mind but what about yours? Who's your favorite artist?"

Ricardo bit his lip and said “I’m sorry about your mom though.  Maybe you can ask your dad about her?” he suggested.  Ricardo still had both of his parents and he had never lost someone before,  so he wasn’t sure how to respond. “But that’s awesome about your dad though,” he added. “So where are you from?” Ricardo asked.

Rose shook her head lightly, "It's not your fault, no need to say sorry." She thought about talking to her dad but only shook her head again, "It's kind of hard for him, you know? It's been what, maybe fourteen years now and he's still pretty shook up about it." Rose tilted her head forward a little before smiling at his comment about her dad. "New Jersey. Ridgefield area," she replied before asking, "And you?"

"Yeah, he worked really hard so my brother and I could have a good life and I always admired that," Ricardo explained.  "What about your parents?" he asked, hoping he didn’t bring up any bad or awkward feelings; he always had a habit of over-analyzing his actions.

"He sounds like a nice father," Rose replied. She let out a sigh before giving Ricardo another small smile. "I only grew up with my dad. My mom, uh, she passed away when I was young and I don't really remember her as bad as it sounds." Her smile turned into a small frown at the thought; sometimes she felt bad for not remembering anything about her. "But my dad," she continued, "Well, he's really great. He's always been there for me."

"Well, it’s  not exactly nothing,” Ricardo said, but then he continued, “I got into guitar because growing up, my family and I didn’t really have much, but my dad had this old guitar of his and he taught me the basics of how to play and well, I just kind of took it from there.”  Ricardo always loved telling his story to anyone who would listen, because his dad is someone who is really important to him.

Rose smiled at Ricardo. "You must really look up to him then, huh?" she asked. Growing up, Rose never knew her mom so it was always just her and her dad, allowing the two to become much closer than most father and daughter relationships.
