Warm up to Team Sketching Activities using the Visual Alphabet.
Friday 15 - Cars - MAX Dev Team
Today the group was divided into teams of 2-3. Each team was given 4 CDs, 4 Popsicle sticks, 4 straws, hand full of toothpicks, and tape. The goal was to carry a marshmallow in a vehicle and see who could go the farthest.
It was a good challenge and really made the team think. We had to add a little extra time because the task was a little more difficult.
The IC UX team basic skills practice session:
Exercise 1: Masterpiece creation with Simple Shapes Exercise 2: Hypothetical Interaction Challenge Sketch
Exercise 3: Wooden Armiture Doodle Sketching
Friday 15 - Reverse Pictionary - New Group!
Today we were able to expand our Friday 15 to new groups in the company. We choose a classic one to introduce them to Friday 15. They did awesome!
The activity: One player goes to the board to draw. Another player is given a word and has to tell the person drawing how to draw the object using only basic shapes. Great way to work on team communication skills.
Friday 15 - Electricity
Teams were required to move a ping pong ball from one side of the room to the other using a network of ‘power poles’ that had to be the exact same design. Teams had 5 minutes to build and then we raced to see who’s design was better.

One player on the team is given a word and tells the person drawing how to draw the object using only basic shapes. Great way to work on team communication skills.
The IC UX team basic skills practice session was expanded to non UX team members including Organizational Directors, Product owners, and Project managers. The results were fantastic.
The Exercise: Interface Sketch Off. There was an interface projected on the display. Participants had to recreate the interfaces and given 3 min. to capture the interface and interactions in sharpie. The team then learns new techniques when critiquing the sketches and techniques of the speed sketches.

The Exercise: Interface Pop Quiz. Team members were given a printed interface and given 3 min. to recreate the interface and all of its interactions in sharpie. The team then learns new techniques when critiquing the sketches and techniques of the speed sketches.
To Continue the IC UX team basic skills practice we took team members initials and turned them into Logos. Classic art school assignment.
In April the IC UX team started sharpening it’s basic skills. Here the challenge was to white board the perfect circle.
