⋆ | The marble room was quiet, save for Lily’s unsteady breathing and the occasional muffled sob. Whispered words of solace from Oz practically rocked the foundation they kneeled on. Her shoulders shake against Oz’s palms with every sob— every heave of breath.

“BULLSHIT!”

She meant to SCREAM and put everyone else’s pain to shame. She barely hissed. “You can’t be scared if you want to live!” Lily raises her chin, her blue eyes meeting Oz’s green. All the youthful light seemed to have been snuffed out of them, leaving behind only piercing desperation. “You should know this better than anyone else. When have you had the time to be scared, Vessalius?”

⋆ | She smiles a smile hidden by her scarf, she has the bright red plaid pattern tugged up to her nose. Surely the crinkle of her eyes give Lily away. “I think I like that.” She says, cozying up to a snow-dusted tree trunk. The cold bites at her through her tattered coat. Lily welcomes it as the redness on her cheeks and nose spreads. Just look at the two of them. The forest clearing looked so bleak and pale. Adelheid and Lily providing the only color— so much RED.

“I don’t know which one of your books you pulled that from but—” She huffs and gives Adelheid a sideways glance. “I want to see every single version the stars can come up with. What’s the point of practically being immortal if everything is always the same. God! I would get so bored. Promise you’ll be here to watch with me?”
