Medieval Romanesque Church | CC Build

I’ve finally finished my most atmospheric build in a while — a full Romanesque church in true medieval style! The lot is 20×30 and located in Henford-on-Bagley. It fits perfectly into the peaceful countryside, but at the same time looks like it was transported straight from the 12th century.

The church turned out strict and majestic. The main altar fully functions as a wedding arch, so you can now hold beautiful medieval weddings right inside the church. The pulpit works as the debate podium, which means your sims (priests or just debate lovers) can deliver real sermons and philosophical discussions.

The lot is designed for two church servants to live there — inside you’ll find modest living quarters, a kitchen, and everything needed for a quiet monastic life. Beneath the church there are functional catacombs with working tombstones (you can actually bury sims). Outside there’s a decorative cemetery that adds the perfect touch atmosphere.

It’s a shame that the lot size limited me so much and I couldn’t use all the materials from @medievalmaniacsims, especially those gorgeous vaulted ceilings. I think you can expect a full monastic complex from me on a larger lot in the future — I enjoyed working with the Romanesque set so much!

How did you used triangular roofs as walls for the towers at your church-building?

First, I place four roofs along the edges of the tower to make it look like walls from the outside. Then I place four more facing the inside of the tower. Finally, I create a four-story building next to the church and make the foundation really high, place a roof on top of it and then drag the roof onto the tower. That makes the black part of the roofs beneath it disappear so it just looks like normal walls.

It's kind of hard to explain it, but I hope I'm making sense :)

Romanesque Set

A 55-piece set of build items and decorations in the romanesque style, perfect for a medieval church, monastery or castle.

Hi! This is my first set as a cc creator. I've been working on it for a long time, and I am really happy to finally share it with other people.

The set is inspired by romanesque churches from the early middle ages, especially in Germany such as the cathedrals of Speyer and Mainz. I wanted to capture the thick stone walls and came up with the idea of using two parallel walls in the game to create the illusion of thicker walls. What makes this set unique is the deep windows, which are meant to be placed in pairs on those two parallel walls, opposite each other.

All items have at least two swatches, orange and gray, which are based on Foxbury Stone from the Discover University expansion pack. Therefore, the expansion is required for this set to work. The gray swatch matches Nutter-Butter-1's Foxbury Stone Recolour.

The set consists of:

3 decor arches

2 functional door arches

2 portals

3 open windows with 2 connecting vaults

7 regular windows of which 4 are deep

13 trim pieces for different angles

6 exterior pilasters which connect to the trims

1 arch that sticks to walls

1 stone wall

1 matching foundation

4 “fake” walls

4 interior columns/pilasters

6 vaulted ceilings
