Literally everything about Carrot's first experiences in Ankh-Morpork is just hilarious. I can't even point to a specific moment, its just all incredible.

I was listening to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde today and I got to the line “if he should be Mr Hyde, then I shall be Mr Seek” and it makes me wonder if Stevenson came up with that line first and then wrote the whole story around that. That’s what I would have done

One of my reading goals for the year was to read at least one non-fiction book a month and I just finished my 12th one for the year. Almost all of the, at least the ones that weren’t true crime, all boil down to the message that capitalism sucks.

I'm rereading Frankenstein and something that struck me is one of the reasons that Victor decides to destroy the female creature he was creating. He doesn't want the two creatures to reproduce. But like he can definitely do something about that. He doesn't have to use the parts necessary for reproduction in the creation of the creature, but he is just so much of a perfectionist that he can't do anything less even if it would fix some of his problems.

“The princesses were so noble they, they could pee through a dozen mattresses” is such a good line. Especially later when someone says the correct phrase and Mort says “oh that’s wha he meant”
