Hard since I'm at work (when I finally saw this) and I tend to keep my desk pretty neat, but I put away what needed put away.

Android users - I recommend using Astrid Tasks to hold you over until UFYH for Android is released. It will incessantly remind you to do a task. You can't even clear it from notifications. It also has encouraging blurbs to help motivate you (it also yells... But unlike UFYH there is no swearing). It has a free version. Premium just gets you fancier widgets.

If you've been on Pinterest, you've seen the pin... "Make cinnamon rolls in your waffle iron!" On Christmas Eve, my sister-in-law even said, "It works!"
So 2 weeks later, I tried it. It was ok. I think you're better off making them the regular way...
Especially this (half-way through the before):
Cinnamon was crusted pretty much everywhere (I had even used Pam). I sprayed water on it, hoping it would soak and just "drip off" (when I stood it on end). That didn't work. UFYH to the rescue!
Toothbrush, paper towels, and patience. :-) And highest heat to kill anything yucky. Thanks for the advice!
I'm also never making cinnamon rolls in a waffle iron again. Until I get a waffle iron with plates that can soak.
Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 9
Start by making your bed!
Time to double check your flat surfaces. Any table, counter, desk, or bookshelf that you haven’t already dealt with is getting some attention. Clear them off, put or throw stuff away, and clean or dust off the surface.
Well, this was much more than a 20/10.

The piece of paper is my auto insurance card that needs to go into my car (which I will do the next time I go outside). The gigantic Crock Pot needs to find somewhere to go in my cabinets... And I dusted this table AND the chairs AND the bench (including legs and crossbars!).
The stack of papers is for a friend who is coming over tomorrow. And clean dishes in the drainer!
Clean dishes and clean sink (and a dirty waffle iron that I really need to clean...).

I have no idea how long this took. Definitely more than 20 minutes. I kind of have 2 invisible "corners"...
Befores:
The counter next to the stove. It would be fantastic if I'd actually use this for cooking. But instead it has become the "catchall" for things that need to go "back there" (the bathroom, office, utility/storage room). It has been a lot worse than this.
This is basically step 2 after it sits next to the stove. A collection of receipts and anything else that needs to be filed or find a home in the office. This part of the cleaning took quite a while.
Afters:
Clean counter and to show you why... the bathroom is RIGHT THERE with the office next to it and the utility/storage across from the office. That is not a really good excuse.
The receipt that is still in the box is for car repairs that I owe my dad for... And I promise that everything else has been sorted, filed, thrown away, etc. Except for the handful of things that need to be shredded. That's for another day, because it's January and I also have a year's worth of receipts to shred...
Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 7
To the living/family room! Start by clearing off the coffee and end tables. Straighten the bookshelves. Put away anything that belongs somewhere else. Fold any blankets, fluff the pillows, dust what needs dusting, and run a quick vacuum.
It's technically not the weekend anymore... But I had THREE parties this weekend (birthday, baby shower, birthday) that took up all my time.

Yes, I let my cat play in an empty beer case. She likes to jump in and out of it. I usually keep it in the kitchen on the linoleum so she can slide when she jumps in, but my landlord came over yesterday and I didn't want him to judge. PS - I wasn't scared of my landlord coming over because everything was clean!
The envelope on the floor had been on top of the bookshelf when I left this morning....
Afters:
I just noticed the coasters aren't in a neat stack. Will fix when this is posted...
The cat will be confused by the blankets not being balled up on the couch...
Confused because the toys are not spread across the room...

There was more trash on top of the bookshelf too.

Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 6
Back to the bedroom. This time, focus on your surfaces: nightstand, dresser, etc. Clear them off, put shit back where it belongs, and give everything a good dusting.
This actually took a while, because I did a lot of organizing...
I really need some suggestions on how to store bracelets... I do have a couple ideas (from Pinterest) for the necklaces.
I took all my makeup out and reorganized it so it makes sense. (All eye liners with each other, mascaras, etc)
So much Bath & Body Works...
Cleaned so much crap out of those little baskets. Now they hold things I'll actually need!
My reading stack. Would make more sense to switch the stands, but I sleep on this side and keep the remotes and my glasses in the drawer.
My next present to myself is a flat screen TV for the bedroom (or a bigger one for the living room and move that one to the bedroom). I know TVs aren't supposed to go in the bedroom, but Saturday mornings in bed watching TV are so relaxing...
Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 5
Time to head into the bedroom. This 20 minutes, focus on getting rid of the floordrobe, put your shoes back where they belong, and put away any laundry hanging out in baskets or on surfaces.
Just put away the laundry that just finished drying. After I took the laundry in the washer and hung it to dry.
The only shoes out in my room are the ones I'm wearing today.
Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 4
Sheets dry yet? If so, make your bed. After that, start another load of laundry. How’s your laundry area? Gross? Use your 20 minutes making it less gross.
I put the laundry in the dryer before I made breakfast. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster for my waffle iron.
Emptied the trash in the laundry area, put away a couple of the laundry baskets that were empty (now that I have in-unit laundry, I just keep 4 baskets out of sorted dirty laundry), and reorganized a few things.
Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 3
20 minutes cleaning the bathroom. Start by filling the tub and sink with hot water and cleaner. Pour some cleaner in the toilet. Wipe down all surfaces, get the gunk off of the bottles in the shower, empty the trash, sweep or Swiffer the floor, wipe down the walls, then drain and wipe the sink and tub, and scrub the toilet.
Any time left over? Go through your medicine cabinet or drawers and do some unfucking. 10 minute break when you’re done.
Just cleaned the shower the other day! Wooo! Shower walls are also on the list of "things to steam mop". That will probably be a 45/15. So excited about the steam mop. Thinking I can just throw out my old mop! And the Swiffer!
I also used my new Shark cordless hand vac last night on the bathroom floor, but since that's where the litter box is (I made one of those "DIY litter boxes" with the lid so the mess is minimal), there was a little to clean up. And I vacuumed the litter off the top of the box. Wiped everything down, including the mirror. Time for breakfast... since I just wiped down the kitchen.
I should also say that I "just" moved (2 months ago) and I've done a pretty good job keeping up with things. I haven't completely unpacked, because I'm waiting for the landlord to replace the linoleum in the kitchen (and I have a shot glass collection I don't feel like unpacking and repacking). I also have another piece of furniture coming when I get the manpower and the motivation to do it. There's a box of things that will go in that.
Unfuck Your Weekend: Challenge 2
20 minutes in the kitchen. De-scuzz the stovetop, wipe down the counters, throw away the gross food in the fridge. If you see it, clean it. You’ll be surprised how much you can get done in 20 minutes. If the washer’s done, put your stuff in the dryer. If there’s already stuff in the dryer, PUT IT AWAY. Like, AWAY away, not languishing in a basket.
10 minute break when you’re done.
There wasn't much for me to do. Since adopting a kitten 2 months ago (and once she grew big enough to jump on the counters), I've had to keep up with this. She's obsessed (OBSESSED) with water in the sinks (more than any cat I've ever known) so several times a day, I have to wipe the counters off (wet kitty footprints). I think one of my challenges (if I have a "freebie") will be to use my brand new Shark Pro steamer (Yay, Christmas!! My mom even said - "This is nicer than the one I have.") to do all the counters.
The only stuff left on the counters is some Christmas stuff I missed. I'm washing the kitchen towels/oven mitt/hot pad right now, so I'm going to wait so I can put everything away at once.
Done. Bring it.
Get out of your bed and pay it some attention. Throw your bedding in the washer before you start today’s adventures (and then add detergent and start the washer, smartasses). Be honest, your sheets need washing, don’t they? If not, or if you don’t have access to a washing machine right now, MAKE...
Done! My sheets don't need washing, but I do have a couple loads I need to wash, so I threw one of those in. I also did dishes (I did those first). Then I put away laundry from a couple days ago (the stuff that has to hang to dry...).
I have to make my bed every day. Because this:
Yes, that's her dog bed. Yes, she's a cat. Yes, she occasionally uses her dog bed. She will also remind me in the morning when I need to make the bed by either standing on it and meowing at me, or by burrowing under the covers and spazzing out.

I love holidays. I start cooking, like right this fucking second I won’t stop for about six weeks. And it is amazing.
If you’re in the Thanksgiving-celebrating portion of the world, this may come in handy. And hey — it’ll work for pretty much any large gathering of people that you’ve decided to cook for.
I’m on my fourth year hosting Thanksgiving for our family (fifth if you count one I cohosted with friends). It’s also my biggest one yet: a dozen people from both my and my husband’s family. (I’m still not 100% convinced I’ll have enough food.)

Well, I'm moved...
... After everyone but my family bailed on me (leaving me with 2 guys to do all the heavy lifting). But it's done (old apartment is clean!) and I just have to unpack now.
And do these things:
1. Call insurance company. Oops. totally dropped the ball on this one last week. I emailed them. I hate talking on the phone.
2. Call current electric company to have service transferred out of my name on 10/31. Woot! Did this online too.
3. Update address information online for credit cards/bank. I have decided to just do this as the bills come due, so I know I have them all changed.
4. Find out what to do with my old apartment keys.
5. Set up email account through new cable company (have to do this from my home computer).
6. Call new cable company, since he was unable to install my phone line, yet I paid for a phone line installation. Got phone lined hooked up.
How many commercial breaks during American Horror Story did it take to do the dishes?
One and a half. And that means I didn't have to sit through political ads (I live in a swing state and I'm not aware of any other commercials currently on the air).
