Some recent character design work. Alexis Rex and her friends! I'm really happy with the fusion between modern and classic dinosaur vibes. I wanted them to still feel iconically "dinosaur" but acknowledge all the leaps in our understanding of what a dinosaur actually IS.

Beauty and The Beast Charity Drive

Dear Readers, I have to put a content warning on this post because I’m crying while I write it. If the news coming out of American concentration camps has been tearing you apart the way it has me, you probably shouldn’t read this one, and should just skip to the link at the end. 

You’ve probably all seen the news. Children, many seeking legal asylum with their parents, are being separated from their families at the American border and incarcerated in the most shocking of inhumane conditions. Taken from their parents, forced into crowded facilities, denied basic human needs such as blankets and soap, with many left to sleep on cement floors in filthy clothes and dirty diapers. Ten-year-olds are being given babies to care for. Children the same age as my little son and younger are dying in these hellholes. As a Canadian, there is little I can do politically, but I will be uploading my entire body of work in digital format to gumroad and donating any and all proceeds to https://www.raicestexas.org/ to aid in their work to reunite families and provide legal support and bail to migrants being held in these nightmarish facilities. right now you can purchase all three volumes of Beauty and The Beast at a base fee of $12 each (you can pay more if you wish!). Gumroad takes 8.5% and a thirty cent fee off of every purchase, but the remaining ~90% I will donate in full. Over the next weeks I will be adding my short stories to the platform as well. I’m also asking you American readers to fight this and never stop fighting it. The rest of the world is looking on in helpless horror. We’ve been down this road and we know where it leads. We never thought we would be walking it again. You are the only ones with any power to halt this.  TL;DR Purchase Beauty and the Beast PDFS on Gumroad and I’ll donate all proceeds to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services

Happy Winter, Dear Readers!

It's been an interesting few months! While we will be having a short epilogue, the main story of Beauty and The Beast has, after seven years, come to a conclusion. So many of you have been with me from the start, and it's been a pleasure to take this journey with you.

I'm very happy to announce that I've found representation with Susan Graham (@grahamophones on Twitter) of Einstein Literary Management. Susan will be handling the sales of my book-length projects, while I retain power over my illustration and shorter or serialized works (That means you can still invite me to contribute to your anthology, or hire me to draw your dog!). I am hoping this will lead to some exciting new stories in the future!  

In general news, with tumblr's future looking uncertain, you can always find me on twitter (@spookymeggie).  You can also subscribe to an unobtrusive and occasional mailing list for book updates. Hiring Teen Artists

I’m looking to hire two high school artists, age 13-18, for paying , published work. I’m interested in seeing all styles. email me at [email protected] with either a link to your portfolio, or some samples of your work.

I’ll be making my decisions before October 1st, 2018, so you’ll have to move quick! Don’t worry about making something new to impress me, just show me some of your favourite works, be they paintings, comics, or drawings.

For context, I’m Megan Kearney, a Toronto-based cartoonist, writer and teacher. I’ve worked on properties such as Disney Princess and the Secret Loves series. This is a work-for-hire situation, so you will be paid once for the rights to your artwork, but you will of course be able to continue to feature it in your portfolio and you’ll be credited in the book.
