Tales and Legends from India, french edition, 1949, unknown illustrator
I was watching Overly Sarcastic Productions' video "Those Dang Phones," and it made me notice that illustrations/movies of Snow White made in the last century or so have made the Magic Mirror function as a "TV screen" that magically shows events to the Queen. This seems like an obvious choice nowadays, but if you look at the older Snow White illustrations, the Mirror is simply depicted like a normal mirror. The idea that its reflection could magically change seems to have only gained popularity in the last century, with the advent of moving pictures and televisions. Even the idea of the Mirror having a face seems to be recent.
This is all true. All we know about the mirror from the original tale is that it speaks. But of course when motion pictures came along, it would have been dull to have just a voice coming from an ordinary-looking mirror. So they gave us elaborations such as a mirror with a face, a mirror that shows visions of far-away things, a mirror with a spirit or person trapped inside it, etc.
If anyone wants to make an old disney inspired campaign, the CRK soundtrack is actually great if you need background music
I can't recall if you interact with Fairy Tail at all but I have to share
I've been crippled with the soul deep certainty that if the characters for FF7 were somehow dumped into the Fairy Tail universe, Bickslow would be all up in Vincent's business from the get go.
Like Vincent would be on his "I must atone for my sins" bullshit and Bickslow would be there in a priests collar trying to match this man's demons Freak
It's a glorious train wreck of one goofball yearning to get lost in the sauce (the guild, Cid and Genesis watches on both in horror and with popcorn)
I am always here for someone being completely gone over Vincent. It's what he deserves
