that is the short and sweet answer, but i want to explain it more since i think context is needed to understand why this is the case. yes, i’m really schizophrenic, observant, and obsessive 💔 i’ve been following these girls since DA and my brain is kind of super fried. obviously these things are just hcs, but in my head i’ve fully canonized them 😭 this is probably the most blatantly delusional post i’ll make yet. let’s be Nice to me 🥺💗 i am just a girl who likes to have fun ^^
prelude, speculated beef timeline to serve as background information: meichae liked each other (platonic) during DA, but their connection was severed during mission 3 confident because megan was going through a really tough time, and the language barrier with yoonchae made things more difficult than it should have been. the bts rehearsal with megan sharply talking to yoonchae about the jacket really proves this. they didn’t seriously dislike each other here, but megan wasn’t feeling yoonchae, and yoonchae sensed that megan didn’t fuck with her. yoonchae not knowing english and just glaring at megan and having an attitude whenever megan talked to her, or even just glanced at her. hilarious in hindsight. debuting together was awkward at first
• though awkward at first, they ended up liking each other again pretty heavily. i think they set their misunderstandings aside after realizing they’re in a gg and they’ll be together for years because of it. i don’t think anything special really happened, i don’t think they even made any formal apologies, they just warmed up. during katseye’s first ever content filmed (the holiday video on dec ‘23), they were paired w each other and were very comfortable and friendly. then there’s the graduation video on june ‘24 where megan is famously chosen to hold yoonchae’s attention for as long as possible 💗 they have a lot of little moments before debut, and this is when megan started seriously liking yoonchae. she wasn’t used to having a friend younger than her who relied on her for many things, which ignited a lot of feelings that she never had before, and gave her a role that she enjoyed playing
• megan started liking yoonchae before debut, but it was during SIS era that she actually fell first. if you look back on it, you can really tell that megan wanted to get closer to yoonchae here. randomly complimenting her to get her attention, such as going out of her way to pick up a mic and interrupt the flow of the convo to sweetly tell yoonchae “you are pretty 💕,” and trying her hardest to keep holding yoonchae’s hand even when yoonchae pushes her hand away, lol. i think megan got really clingy to yoonchae during this time period, and whilst yoonchae liked her, she was closer to sophia and lara who probably lent more “help” as she adjusted to america
• constellation date. one of the big meichae bombs that forever changed their relationship, i’d say the second bomb after beefgate. yoonchae talked about it on november ‘24, and i think this is the turning point where yoonchae actualized megan’s feelings for her and their friendship. because from here on out, she stops acting like a “tsundere” (she never really did act like one tho, she was just reserved). she talks about it so sweetly, and i can’t help but be curious about what their conversation was like. yoonchae literally started tearing up when a shooting star flew by. honestly, i think she might have taken that as a Sign, because how does a shooting star fly by at the exact time and place megan is explaining constellations to her? the Soulmateism is real. i’m also curious what wishes she made. she immediately made one when the shooting star came, and she said she would tell us if it came true. right. i’m sure and i’m noticing.
• so, yoonchae starts returning megan’s feelings. megan is still pretty whipped at this point. they continue developing their friendship. yoonchae falls harder in preparation for gnarly and early gnarly promotions. before this, her feelings were only in that mutual state, but in this era yoonchae actually starts liking megan enough to the point that she acts out in ways you can only really justify as a crush. like, okay, megan had zero shame during SIS era with how much she was publicly flirting with yoonchae, but it still read as somewhat platonic, just really enthusiastic. but yoonchae starts ignoring people in order to get megan’s attention (re: bracelet clip) and her body language is very vocally telling us that she likes megan, since she’s naturally angled towards her or goes out of her way to face megan. that interview where megan sits behind her and she rotates in her chair every time to look at megan. the way she acts around megan is genuinely different to how she acts around everyone else
