           RULES       -        ABOUT
The job was supposed to be simple. The boss would give her a instructions on where to meet the client and she’d go, do the deep and leave. But some people were weird. Still, she didn’t mind. She just hoped this guy would pay enough so she could make rent this month.
She got dressed according to what the client had asked for (an outfit which was slightly more dominating than usual) and took a cab to a motel she’d been to a couple of times. It was fancy enough and very out of the way. She had been given a room number and she didn’t know who to expect when she knocked on the door. Usually when she was sent to this place it meant they were powerful and didn’t want anyone to know that they had ordered the services of a high quality escort like herself. But she was still surprised when the door opened. Percival Graves, Director of National Security and the President’s right hand man.
”Hello. I believe you’re expecting me.”
Percy was just lonely. But private too, and uncomfortable with the vulnerability that was required in order to get close to someone. So this was the solution. He was a little embarrassed, really, but somehow it felt better than actually opening himself up to closeness, or rejection.
He isn’t dressed in his usual suit, but a comfortable sweater and simple cotton pants. He looks nervous at the door and moves for her to come in. “Yes, I have.”
Mel let out a relieved, happy sigh against his lips as she was pulled closer. It really was the only place she wanted to be in that moment, feeling wanted and adored for just being her and just being there. Nothing could be better.
He stayed close for a long moment, savouring the kiss. He pulled back gently, his lips barely parting from hers. “I should get dinner ready before it burns…”
Mel rested her forehead against his, just savouring the closeness and the memory of the kiss just a moment before and she couldn’t help but smile at his comment and she couldn’t help the little chuckle that escaped her. ”Right. Yes, you probably should.”
The Newbie (open starter)
Percival Graves had quite a reputation. He was serious and strict, although never angry, always (almost eerily) neutral. This extended to his personal life, too, as far as anyone was concerned. There had been no romantic relationships or even friendships harboured outside of the workplace.
But that would change. Because Percy had a crush. As silly as it sounded for a man of his position and age, even he would admit that he had a soft spot for this one particular person. Fairly new, and occasionally seeming a bit lost, but a hard worker all the same. They just made him smile, really, and get that warm fuzzy feeling as though he was looking at a cute puppy. It made him feel like a teen again, and as much as that was nice, it was becoming increasingly distracting - and obvious - at work.
She looked up at him, concern in her eyes. ”Percy what if something had happened to you? I know you’re strong but you need to trust people. You likely have a target on your back all the time….” She leaned in closer, staying close to him. ”I do agree. They can’t be too focused on themselves or their own success. You need to have some sense of responsibility for the people.”
“I’ve always been cautious. I’m very good at what I do. It was never a big concern to me,” he hummed. Admittedly, saying it out loud, it had been a stupid plan. But he’d operated in that way for so many years, it hardly seemed wrong at the time.
“It needs to be someone who will truly care for their staff. Not overly careful, but they need to be responsible and reserved.”
Mel hummed a little and gently righted his tie, mostly to have something to do with her hands. She wanted to move on and not give him a hard time. She looked back out over the crowd. ”Yes, I agreee.” She thought about the options and her eyes fell on someone in the crowd. ”What about Tina?”
“Tina… perhaps, she could. With the right training, she’d need some toughening up and she’s a little young, but I think Madame Picquery would approve,” he hummed a little, reaching to take her hands in his own and pressing a kiss to her knuckles. “Sorry. Less business, more pleasure.”
Mel smiled a little. "I'm alright with a little business, it's important business." She leaned in and kissed his cheek lovingly. "I think you could train Tina to be good for the job." She looked out towards the floor. "Would you dance with me, my love? Sweep me off my feet?"
He nodded a little, leaning into her. She really was something special. “I’m no talented dancer, but if it would make you happy then of course.”
She smiled a little. "Your dancing is just fine, Percy," she hummed softly. Thinking of the few evenings they had danced just the two of them in his living room. She always felt so loved in those moments, just being close to him.
“If you say so,” he smiled, taking her hand. “Let’s dance then, my love. I have no doubt your dress will spin beautifully.”
Mel chuckled a little and squeezed her hand. ”I hope it will,” she said with a smile as they walked onto the floor. She held on to him and kissed his cheek as the music began to play. ”I love you, Percival Graves.”

He isn’t dressed in his usual suit, but a comfortable sweater and simple cotton pants. He looks nervous at the door and moves for her to come in. “Yes, I have.”
He was so sweet. So so sweet. She sat down and looked at Percival with a little smile. She sipped her wine and reached out to take his hand, maybe she could be brave tonight. Maybe it was possible. ”I’m really glad to be here with you tonight,” she hummed softly.
He hummed softly, feeling his cheeks flush ever so slightly. He was trying not to read too much in to what she was saying and doing, but it was hard. “It’s nice to have company. I’m pleased you came over.”
She held on to his hand, it was giving her courage somehow. Feeling the warmth of his skin. She hadn’t felt it for quite a while, and she missed him. ”It is nice to have company… it’s been a little lonely at my new place. I do love it but it’s… yeah, lonely. And my… well my work…. Didn’t actually give any real closeness. I never thought I’d miss the actual physical touch….” She squeezed his hand lightly.
“I can understand that. It’s a bit lonely here too. And it’s hard to get closer to people I work with when they all have their own connections and agendas…”. He felt like he was rambling, and he hadn’t expected her presence to make him feel quite so nervous.
Mel smiled a little as she listened to him talk. What he said shouldn’t make her smile, but just being close to him did. She hummed softly. ”Perhaps I could come over more often. If you trust that I don’t have my own agenda.”
“I do trust you. And I would like to see you more,” he said softly. He really hoped it wasn’t coming across too strong or needy. But she was so sweet and genuine, and he really did see something special in her.
She smiled a little, a little relieved to hear it. She also hadn’t let go of his hand. ”I’d like that. I’d like that a lot…” she hummed. She wondered… maybe… just maybe…. ”Could I… never mind actually no that’s just silly…”
“I’m sure it isn’t silly. You can ask me anything,” he hummed softly, squeezing her hand a little. His heart was still pounding in his chest, his eyes following her every expression intently.
Feeling his hand squeezing hers and looking into his eyes she couldn’t help but fall apart just a little. She wanted to be with him so badly. ”Could I stay here tonight? With you?…..” She didn’t even want anything sexual, she just missed having him holding her. ”I don’t think I ever slept as well as I had in that one week when I had you to hold me…”
His gaze softened, but he still swallowed hard. He would never be able to say no to Mel, especially when it was something he wanted too.
“Of course you can stay. Whatever would make you happy, Mel.”
She relaxed a little, she hoped he would agree but there was still a part of her that was nervous asking for that kind of intimacy. Suddenly she understood what he had felt when he hired her for the first time, just asking to be held.
"I'd love to stay.... I want to be close to you... I missed you."
He hummed softly. He wanted to hold her close, to comfort her and give her the world. She was so lovely.
“You can stay as long as you like. I missed you too.”
She watched his expressions closely. She wanted to be with him. She wanted to be closer. She hummed softly, based on his reaction, just maybe he wouldn't mind if she took the plunge. Maybe they could figure it out. "I'd like that," she hummed softly. Her heart was beating so hard as she just leaned in and kissed him, wanting to feel his lips on hers again.

The butterflies in Mel's stomach fluttered a bit, she had seen the softer side of Percival and she loved it, but there was something different about his commanding presence as director. It really made her flustered.
Jones seemed flustered too, clearly at a crossroads. He needed to decide what to do next. After a moment he straightened. "I was just saying that perhaps Philips wouldn't be rising in the ranks so quickly if it wasn't for your personal fondness for her, Sir."
“Or perhaps, is it that her ability to actually do her job properly is what makes me fond of her? The lack of undue stress she causes? Now, you must remember I did not hire you. I certainly wouldn’t have chosen you as a recruit. But you know people in high places and so that is beyond my control.” He paused, but he was not finished.
“You will apologise to Auror Phillips. You should know to respect those who have been serving long before you joined our force. My senior aurors have earned their stripes, something I fear you will never do.”
Jones was sweating under the gaze of the director. He was trying to weigh his options looking around at everyone watching him, but after a moment he nodded and turned to Mel.
”I am sorry, auror Philips. My comments were in bad taste and I apologize.”
Mel stood up taller, definitely feeling empowered by Percival’s support and the apology it got. She nodded in acknowledgement. ”Your apology is accepted, but be careful before you underestimate your superiors.”
He squeezed her gently, rather impressed by her stern response. He began to gently pull her away, closer to the walls where it was a little quieter.
“You handled that very well, love. Let’s get some wine. I think I might try to approach Madam Picquery this evening about my retirement. Hopefully she’ll be in a forgiving mood between the festivities and alcohol.”
As they left Jones was looking quite red and embarrassed, having been put in his place thoroughly. Mel was just glad to have gotten away from that situation. She refocused on Percival and smiled. ”Yes, let’s get some wine. I just want to enjoy being here with you tonight.”
He smiled back, taking a glass for her and passing it over. He took a sip of his own and hummed softly. “I think she might agree to a graduated retirement. I’ll train up a replacement, slowly pass off some duties and reduce my hours. I think that would be reasonable.”
She took the glass he offered her and sipped it as she listened to him. She leaned on him slightly and looked out across the room. ”Do you already have someone in mind who might be a good candidate?”
“There’s a few possibilities. I’m thinking of one of the older staff we have. Although I’m not sure how many of them will actually want my job. It’s a bit thankless,” he hummed a little. “And I think they do need a designated deputy. I know we have team leaders but it’s not quite the same.”
She hummed a little. ”I don’t understand how you don’t already have a deputy,” she said, shaking her head a little. ”You have one of the highest posts in the country. What if you were hurt? I know the team leaders are supposed to lead but that’s just not sustainable.” She sighed and sipped her wine. ”Don’t pick someone too ambitious. They have a tendency to be power hungry and that’s not what we want.”
