âwell. arenât you just the shit then?â
âDo you not think my confidence is well earned?â
sicviitaestâ:
âmy apologies-â it was a POOR offering, at this point. she had dropped the ball, so to speak. it wasnât a usual occurrence for someone like ziva, but she wasnât infallible - the well disguised switch blade had fallen from her bag when it had taken an unfortunate tumble, and now⊠well. NOW the little knife was on full display, clutched in the hand of an unsuspecting seventeenth doll patron. âthat would be mine.â the repercussions of a situation such as this could range from âfound in the nick of timeâ to âdisastrousâ, ziva knew. and this⊠verged on the latter. âi can explain?â
Leila had nearly grabbed the knife before Selene had picked her up. âAre you serious?â She narrowed her eyes at the woman. The knife didnât bother her, she was no stranger to the reasons someone might carry around a weapon like that. The carelessness of it all did. âYou are in a public space. You have to be more careful. Someone might just get hurt.â She said, the disdain and annoyance clear in her voice. She shifted Leila in her grasp, holding her daughter closer to her. âThatâs just reckless and irresponsible.âÂ
teddybrocksâ:
âclearly youâve never had a good sandwich, then. âcause you get the right kinda melted cheese? youâre onto a winner.â
âI have a toddler. Melted cheese takes more time than I have on a good day. Maybe in a decade and a half.â
@blayzeconstantine said: â iâm not trying my hardest but iâm very tired which i think should be taken into consideration. â // accepting
âI will keep that in mind.â Selene said with a twinge of annoyance in her voice. âI would keep in mind, you are close to the point where being very tired stops being an excuse.â
@witch-hzl said: â i love every cat in the entire world. every cat on the planet. if there are any cats in outer space, i love them too. â // accepting
âSo you suggest keeping this one then?â Selene had never been much of a pet person but sheâd found a small stray cat and Leila had gotten attached faster than she wanted her to. âMy daughter seems to like it well enough.â
@teddybrocks said: âSandwiches. They are a beautiful invention, a stunning piece of technology.âÂ
âThey make a quick meal. Theyâre useful.â Selene shrugged. âI wouldnât call them beautiful. That feels like an exaggeration.âÂ
@salcmtrials said: â being my ex must be the worst thing. imagine losing me? â  // accepting
âI wish I could imagine that.â Selene said, trying and failing to adopt a playful tone. Her voice kept its useful deadpan as she spoke. Most of her attention was focused on Leila who was running around the park. âDid you run into a particularly lamentful ex or something?Â
halvorbragisonâ:
âYouâre amazing â I owe you one. Iâm sort of new to this whole area, unsure how everything works still.â Halvor wouldnât know where to take the feline even if he wanted to go there right now. Besides it probably wasnât open at this hour right? âDo posters work? I could help you put them up?â
âYou really donât.â Selene shrugged. Sheâd never been the most social person, never the best with dealing with people when she wasnât playing a part. âI have no idea. Iâve never lost or found a pet before.â She rolled her eyes. âOr you could put them up yourself. I didnât find the cat.â
ofrcvenantsâ:
âI really, really am getting tired of being asked to revive or communicate someoneâs pet, canât they realize itâs more complicated than that? Not to mention, I donât want to.â
@mementomoriisms
âI donât think many people realize that they can be so annoy with all of their frivolous requests.â Selene hummed. âMaybe you should start being ruder or start charger.â
hapjordanâ:
Hal didnât waste a moment suiting up into his lantern uniform to help lift the heavier debris. He used a giant baseball glove construct to dump it, and then hovers down to the ground. âWell thatâs all the bigger stuff. What do you want to start with next?â [ @mementomoriisms ]
Seleneâs magic had been more than useful during the clean up. Of course, by the time they wrapped up with the bigger stuff, she was ready for a nap. She surveyed the area. âPicking up the trash is probably best. I heat litter wreaks havoc on an environment.â
@tofuisms said:Â â holy motherforking shirtballs . â
âI appreciate the self-censorship.â Selene hummed as she opened the door to the apartment open wider, further revealing the mess of clothes that had taken over it. âSorry for the mess. I could not Leilaâs tutu this morning. Unfortunately, she refuses to do anything without it.â

".maercs ot gniog ma I ,em dnatsrednu t'nac uoy fIâ Selene said, annoyance clear in her words. The strange looks she had gotten from everyone except her daughter, who even if she was old enough to question it, she had been exposed to backwards speak and magic since she was born, had been annoying since the start and had only gotten worse as hours passed.Â
ghcstbarnesâ:
bucky was, of course, security for this dance which found him standing outside, full combat outfit, just waiting for trouble to break lose. he hoped it just meant a few teens getting drunk that heâd have to tell off, but after the schoolâs last few events, he doubted heâd get the night off. rolling his shoudlers back, bucky spotted someone leaving the venue, whom he smiled to out of courtesy. âdance borinâ, huh? i thought people loved âem? i certainly did back in the day. different dame every night anâ all that.â
The night was still early, just before nine. But sheâd taken the time so get Leila used to a sleep schedule. Leila was supposed to be in bed by nine thirty at night, exceptions only for the nights Achilles wanted to do something with her. She shrugged. âI need to pick my daughter up from the community center.â She said. âHer bedtime means our nights often end early.âÂ

* closed starter for @mementomoriisms / âi had no supervision when i was a kid.âÂ
âsounds like a dream. i had WAY too much-â a brief pause as she thought about her words and her childhood, trixieâs lips twisted as she amended the statement, âi guess i had the right amount for the sort of child i was. but STILL. do you know what itâs like to have heaven, hell and in between - all looking at you?â she shook her head, lips pursing, as if it were a BAD thing or something that bothered her when the contrary was the truth. âridiculous.âÂ
âDoes it?â Selene asked. Since they were young. resentment for their parents had grown within them, no matter how many times they reminded themselves that they had been given a choice in which parent to live with and ultimately choose wrong. âI believe that hell watched, at least a little. However, thatâs more on my fatherâs profession than anything I may have done.â They said with a shrug. âItâs certainly something I would not wish for.â
blayzeconstantineâ:
This was making him nervous, but Blayze looks over at Selene with hope that it would go over okay. Their lives were always interesting, especially since both of them had habits of following their father around. He doesnât like to lie, but he wanted this off of his chest now. âWell no, but me, sort of? Oh, bad joke.â He says and just rips off the bandaid. He looks up, smiling enough to show the fangs in his mouth. âIâm a vampire. Two years ago I wandered into somewhere I shouldnât have, and they did this to me so Iâd keep quiet.â
Selene shifted a little, nervous herself a bit. âOkay. Is that all?â She said, any nervousness she had in the moment prior gone. Their lives had never quite been normal, and Selene herself had never shied away from the more supernatural aspects of it and had no reason to react negatively to the news. âI suppose I should reassure you now?â It came out more a question than a statement.Â
halvorbragisonâ:
âDoes this creature belong to you? I found it out here all alone.â It took some time to get the feline to trust him, but eventually Halvor was able to get it to approach him.  He had been walking home after a long day at work when he heard it meowing in his direction. âIf not, what would you suggest I do?â The Asgardian doesnât want to be much trouble, but he also doesnât want to lave the cat out in the cold either.
âItâs not mine.â Selene had never had a traditional pet, nothing more than the birds that at times got stuck in the cabin they grew up in or the occasional stray that stayed for a few days before running off again. âI canât take it.â They stated simply. A cat and a toddler felt like a terrible idea. âThereâs a shelter somehow. Take it there. Or put up posters.â
âDo you need something?â Eyes closed, Selene sat on the ground in the middle of a circle of candles. It was more for performance than a need for the more ritualistic aspects for her to summon the ghosts. The performance of her abilities, and more importantly the ways that people reacted in fear or excitement or disbelief, amused her. She opened her eyes, âIf you give me twenty dollars, Iâll summon a dead relative for you.â
