"It was never a question of morality, my dear-" she continued as the shock grew over The Hero's face.
"- because morality in this world has long been forgotten... but I still remember. " She paused to approach the glass window. Each of her footsteps leaving an echo in the surprisingly pristine room. Between them the hero could only hear the erratic sound of thier own heartbeat.
"Have you ever looked at The city from this high up child?" - her voice sounded sharp yet crystal clear - " From here everything just seems so simple, doesn't it? All the filth, all the venom and hate dissapear from far away. It all looks like some kind of modern utopia, where everything can be fixed through hard work and friendship...I bet that's how you see it, don't you " - she turned to walk towards the hero, her eyes suddenly baring like fangs -" I bet you youths keep coming here to turn me into some grand'ol redepmtion sob-story to appease the press! Well I have some news for you kid, I'm not changing myself, I'm here to change this corrupted world, because unlike you I have seen it upclose, with all the unpleasant details included!!! " - she finished, the clarity of her voice almost shattered with emotion.
The hero couldn't bear the weight of her gaze. " Please.." - the first of many tears made it down their cheek - " I can't let you destroy this City... I-.. I thought I could convince you without fighting... I just wanted t-to do my assignment.. I don't want to kill or let anyone get killed.." they fumbled through their words as they collapsed to their knees. The polished floor was now dotted with tears. " Do you know what they'll do to me once they find out I failed... " - the rest of heroism left in them gave in to fear -" Those men will do anything to see you subdued... they've been sending us here to resolve this peacefuly, but once they know that this hadn't worked they'll do something much worse than death.. to both of us.. you know they have the power.. don't you.."
The Villainess softened her expression. She kneeled down in front of The hero. " I hadn't realised you've seen the world from this side yourself" - her voice seemed to apologize for her - " The people that hurt you and me hurt so many more than we both can grasp. And they won't stop on their own. Not without my input." - The Hero finally found the courage to look at her. Through tears they saw someone who didn't seem like the person who was described to them. She had warmth in her. Moreso than the poeple who had sent The Hero to stop her.
"Now, I know were still far from trusting each other, but I trust you to make a choice now, child" - she said after some thought - " You are free to leave and go back to whoever will have you, or you can stay here with me and help me think about a solition to stop the people who made us suffer.. maybe even without using violence.. if you want.."
After processnig the Villain's offer, The hero had wiped away their tears, and with them some of their doubts. "I want to help" - they decided - "There's no one left for me in this world anyway so I might as well just make the world better instead!"
The two Villains smiled at each other, both feeling ready to do bad things that will make the world so much better.
