That being said a number of anime that I have dropped over the years are not listed on here. If I find more anime I dropped I may or may not add them.
MY RECOMMENDATIONS
Hey! So first things first, this page is under construction, which means that I will have a few anime, and in a seemingly random order considering I don’t know how I want to organize this. I hope to have links, descriptions, reasons why you should watch it, my personal rating and my critical rating etc, etc. So yeah. Now you know.
An amalgamation of the anime I recommend others to watch, some will be ones I recommend everyone watch, others will be stuff I recommend only to people with particular preferences.

My personal list of anime to watch, I need to lower the number of simulcasts I watch each season because otherwise I get completely off track and end up never finishing series due to my wanting to prioritize others. A few of these are also some from Misty Chronexia’s 10 tens too So with that said, here’s a list (that’s more for myself than anyone else) of anime I want to watch in the future.

What I'm watching Feb-June 2017
April/May
Sooooo, maybe back in April or May I watched Kiznaiver in its entirety. Since January, it was the only show I didn't give up on or loose interest in. And trust me, during these 4 months leading up to June, I started a lot of shows but never continued any of them.
So I really liked this one. Its a quick watch at 12 episodes and came out last year during the spring of 2016. But I never looked at it until I got a piece of merch for the show in a Loot Anime box I got.
It follows a boy named Agata who has no sense of pain, and really what seems like no emotion either. He lost it somehow in an event that happened in his past. Well one day he and 5 of his classmates get randomly abducted and become connected through pain. As in if one person feels pain, that pain is spread evenly throughout the other 5 people. This was done to fulfill a rather controversial experiment, as you can probably imagine, in order to harvest friendship among strangers. That's the general gist of the show, but you quickly learn that there is much more underneath the surface and it becomes absolutely fascinating.
I enjoyed the show because a number of the characters are well flushed out. And while the show depicts them at first as archetypes, we and others quickly learn that the characters are more a little more dynamic that what meets the eye. From then on its really a show about making friends developing feelings and try to figure out wtf happened to Agata the poor child.
Its not fantastic, but its a lot of fun and I would recommend this to anyone who likes just a little bit of sci-fi (not too much), interpersonal relations, and just wants something that is fun but also serious.
June
All Out
Ah, I ended up really enjoying this anime, as I knew I would, being that I've recently started loving the sports genre. This came out towards the end of 2016 and I was saving it until I could binge watch the show and oh man was it worth it.
What I enjoyed was the fact that there wasn't a true main character. We start out with Gion, a total newbie and one that is both an idiot and incredibly loud, but he does not remain the center of focus. Yes the show does tend to show his progression throughout the season and as he learns more about Rugby, but the show also ensures that it but in just enough care into the other characters as well, balancing it all out. There are numerous episodes and tome where the focus is not on Gion but on the past or present of the other characters on the team and it really allows us to experience team work and team dynamics as a whole.
It doesn't just stop at the main team, but also carries onto the other teams that the main characters play against. Flushing out some of their opponents and showing that these are people who want to win just as much as they do. It great watching them play because as the viewer you start loving other characters and wanting BOTH teams to win and grow better,
Another thing is that each of the characters is so different, not only in personality, but in looks and body types, and they talk about how having different body types, such as tall or short, bulky or frail, can be used to your advantage and can be indispensable to the team. One body type does not fit the mold, and I think that is a great thing to have. We talk a lot about body image in women, but not so much about it in men. And this show expresses that no matter how masculine or feminine or strong or weak or skinny or fat you are, you can be great at sports and well respected as an equal.
So yeah, I really recommend this anime. It great, funny, dynamic, and has quite a few great eye candy moments because of the sheer number of muscles that anyone can enjoy regardless of their preference ;)
side note: after the first 3 episodes I adopted nearly the whole team. I HAVE SO MANY SON RIGHT NOW ITS RIDICULOUS. I have sons from Haikyuu, Days, All Out, Free, Big Wind Up, and so so SO many more. They are my precious children.
Mob Psycho 100
Wow, this anime is really great. It absolutely hilarious too. Looking at the images for it, it seems like a serious show, but in reality its much more of a comedy.
The main character is mob who is a teenage psychic, who because he had never had any interaction with other psychics doesn't truly understand how powerful he is and yet at the same time does? Well anyway, he ends up landing himself in some pretty interesting situations, and the show quickly picks up an overarching plot that isn't stereotypical and is very well done.
Plus the dub is surprisingly good!~ Yes this review section is pretty lacking I realize, but seriously, this is a great show. after one episode I knew I would like it. And turns out I love it!
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K
Another wonderful comedy featuring an incredibly powerful psychic. As a series, I prefer Mob Psycho 100, but as a show with standalone episodes and 4th wall breaking, this one is really great.
The main character Saiki is so powerful he could literally do anything, thusly he is well aware that he is in an anime, and wears special devices to help control his powers. It absolutely hilarious, there is no plot though so if thats what your looking for, then this is not the show for you. Instead it has many mini stories in each episode. Its a hilarious show that you should give a try. And the dub is actually pretty great too!
Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods
It's a pretty cute show, but rather plot less. That is there is no true story line, rather it just tells of the life of the main characters over a short period of time.
Its about a 'shrine maiden' though we never see her do any of her duties after the first episode. But anyway she can see the shrines herald (messenger of the gods). Eventually another boy moves in and he too can see the heralds. But instead of using him as a means to move the story, they don't do anything with it...
Its not a bad show, however I personally have grown out of this style of slice of life that has no plot, stand alone episodes whose story lines are small, and is not told with the intention to be funny... Ok so the story lines in each episode aren't that interesting, I feel that with the way the series had progressed they could have had a great plot.
After a few episodes I started skimming episodes and in the end didn't miss much of anything in regards to story. So this is an series that can easily be skipped. Its not a must see.

Sorry I was gone for so long I didn't really watch too much anime this school semester. I started a few but only really watched one show in its entirety., aside from a handful of simulcasts.
Still getting Loot Anime and I'm really behind on that, but i'm trying to get caught up on it. I recorded the unboxing of four Loot Anime boxes just now before writing this up.
Basically, I'm back. Gonna try to keep up with my old schedule but we'll just see how it goes.
What I'm Watching January 2017
This month I'm going to be finally catching up with the 2016 anime that I either didn't watch, didn't finish, or was waiting for the season to end before watching. So when I finally finish, I'm going to compile all the 2016 anime I've watched and make a master post (or video) about my recommended anime, and perhaps my top anime, of 2016!
Occultic; Nine 1/22
Ok so this show was a trip! I loved watching it because it sucked me in. Though I'm fairly certain that its because it is so fast paced. So much happens in each episode, there's a LOT of talking and the characters talk REALLY fast. I had such a hard time keeping up that I don't actually know how to summarize it....
so I'll take a leaf out of myanimelist.
"A blog disproving the supernatural, co-run by NEET teenager Yuuta Gamon and his enthusiastic best friend Ryouka Narusawa, becomes the catalyst that would bring together a group of people who supposedly have nothing to do with each other." source
Yup, the only thing I can really say is that if you watch this you need to prepare yourself for a lot of quick reading, and you probably should watch it again. Because it goes by so quickly and I was so distracted by reading the subtitles that I missed a lot. But it was a whole lot of fun!
I would recommend giving it a watch and keep an open mind. However I do not recommend it to anyone who doesn't like very fast paced, quirky shows, or to anyone who reads slowly.
Big Order 1/16
It.. was ok. It wasn't bad per-se, its just that this kind of story arc and progression is over used and this show is pretty average. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching it, but it could have easily been replaced with any other show.
The main character gains a power to control the word, the world blew up, he's trying to save his sister, people dont trust him cause his power is so dangerous, but the fate of the world still lies in his hands. I dont even have that much will to really put effort. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. it was just average. you can skip it easily.
Girlish Number 1/14
This show was pretty good. It was about a young woman struggling to make it as a voice actor. Very similar to Shirobako in how well it shows the facets of the industry. But what really made it stand out was how annoying the main character was. Usually main characters are people who begin with not much talent but find that they have latent talent and they work hard and struggle to improve it, meanwhile there's this other person who obviously sucks but believes that they are the shit and no one has the guts to tell them. Well, the main character, Chitose, sucks at voice acting, and believes she is actually good. We then follow her struggles to find work and eventually realize that she DOES need to practice because she cant act.
Its interesting to see the world through her perspective and kind of frustrating because you spend a good portion of the show rolling your eyes and yelling at Chitose to get a clue, while at the same time wanting her to succeed. And let me tell you they pay off is so satisfying.
Anyway, If your looking for a show with an unusual main character, or a show the gives moderately more accurate depictions of industries then I would recommend this one. Though if your not looking for shows like that then, well you can skip this.
Tabimachi Lateshow 1/13
This was very sweet, another 7 minute, 4 episode series, but this time each episode was about a different story, a different point of time. each 7 minutes would follow the connection between 2 people at different stages of a persons life. It was very sweet and another good, heart warming slice of life. In terms of animation, there wasn't much really, it's mostly stills rather than a flow, like what we are used to in anime. But for what the premise, idea, and length it was, i feel it still worked very well.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys realistic slice of life, and wants something really short.
Pocco's Udon World 1/12
This was so sweet and definitely a wonderful heartwarming family anime. It follows Souta a 30 year old who returns to his home town after his father passes away. While there he meets a young child who teaches him the value of family and how even though they physically aren't there with you, they will always be there regardless.
It was so amazingly funny, sweet, slice of life, finding yourself, connecting with your parents anime and I absolutely loved it. If you liked other anime like Barakamon or Sweetness and Lightening, then you will absolutely love this anime.
Her and her Cat: Everything Flows 1/11
This show is a series of 4 episodes, each only 7 minutes long. And yet within the first 2 minutes I was already crying. I've never known such a short 20 minute story to fill me with so many emotions. Probably because I too have a cat that I grew up with, and I really connect with the story.
It's basically about the story of a girl and her cat, Daru. Daru narrates the episodes in an amazing way and we get to see their relationship from both points of view.
It was incredibly good, and If you love animals or heartwarming stories this is completely worth it! I would highly recommend it, especially since it is so short, you don't need to put a lot of time into watching it.

What I'm watching December as of 12/26
Like last month, I really did not watch all that much anime. My focus has been on all the wonderful simulcasts that are ending, and just the knowledge of it being over has really drained my energy when it comes to watching anime. Well that and finals.... But yeah, sorry its so short. I do hope to watch more next month, since it seems that there will be very few winter 2017 simulcasts that will interest me.
Death Parade 12/26
This was also quite the physiological anime. It's about this being called an 'arbiter' who judges those who are dead to determine where their souls will go. Two human souls, at a time, arrive at a bar where they must play a game against each other with their lives at stake. The 12 episodes largely goes through different pairs and scenarios, with another more long term plot line following and finally ending by the last few episodes.
In order for the souls to be judged, the 'darkness in them' needs to be drawn out. From here we see the complexity that it is to be human, the nature of their deaths and how they have lived their lives. All while seeing that even the worst acts can seem righteous or justified when taking the circumstances into consideration.
All in all, if I had to describe it simply I would say that this has a lot of gray area. nothing is black and white, its all gray and complex, which is what makes it so wonderful and fascinating. I love psychological and 'what does it mean to be human' type of themes. And if you do too, then this is a wonderful anime to watch. And I would highly recommend it.
Erased (rewatch bingewatch) 12/20
If any of you have explored the site, you'll know that this was my top pick for 2016 Winter simulcasts from before I started this website. Now that I have FINALLY gotten my girlfriend to watch it after nearly a year, I can talk about it with all you lovely people. (btw this was the most bing-iest bingewatch all year. we sat down at 8 or 9pm to start it and finished between 1 and 2am, watching every single episode one after another without any breaks!)
The plot is a little hard to describe without giving spoilers, because the very end of the first episode is when the story REALLY drags you in and kicks up. But to begin Its a story about 29 year old Satoru who has an ability to prevent potentially horrific accidents. And the entire show is devoted to solving one overarching murder/kidnapp mystery. It is VERY phychologically driven giving an enormous range of complex emotions and serious situations and topics.
It is absolutely a wonderful show, and even if it might not seen like something you would like, you MUST give it a try. It is fantastic, incredibly well done, and just a wonderful story. Give it a shot and you WONT regret it, I promise.

What I'm Watching November as of 11/25
Servant x Service 11/25? (I think it was sometime around thanksgiving???)
This was a great show, yet another really awesome slice of life, and a semi-natural one too.
The show is about a Japanese girl named Lucy (abreviated) Yamagachi who joined the Welfare Administration Section of local government in order to find the person who accepted her crazy long and unreasonable name from her parents when she was born, and settle the score so to speak. She joins with two other newbies a girl named Saya Miyoshi and a very flirtatious man named Yutaka Hasebe. It then follows the work relationships between the characters as well as a little bit of what civil servants go through working at the office with disgruntled civilians.
I loved the main character and eventually came to adore the Hasabe, the other new recruit, even though I didn't like him that much at the beginning of the show. He turned out to be much nicer and more relate-able than I ever would have imagined, and quickly started rooting for him!
The show is absolutely hilarious, and something that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good laugh and even a little touch of romance~ It was absolutely adorable!
Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun 11/13
I really loved this anime. It follows the daily life of a high school girl, who after 'confessing' her feelings to a classmate finds out he is a shoujo manga-ka and ends up working for/with him on his manga.
It is absolutely hilarious. It has been so long since I have physically and audibly laughed multiple time each episode. It is just that funny without it feeling forced.
Whats also great is that it does not fall into conventional stereotypes within the romance and/or comedy genre. Many characters have roles that are typically assigned to the opposite gender, the obligatory valentines episodes in romances isn't even a valentines episode in itself really. they reflect upon it long after and has its own brand of comedy making fun of tropes. There is no fighting over a single character between the main cast and everyone is really just a normal good friend, and its wonderful being able to see that dynamic like it is in real life.
In all honesty I would compare it to Ouran High School Host club but without the harem, the flamboyance, and the super obvious in your face defiance when it comes to stereotypes. This one is more of a natural slice of life, a little more realistic in events and scenarios, as well as being more laid back.
If you want a laid back romance comedy that goes against stereotypes and will genuinely make you laugh, this is a must watch.
Shelter 11/11
This is incredibly sweet, I saw it on Crunchroll and it turned out to be a 6 minute almost music video about a young girl who controls her surroundings with a tablet, but it is not all that it seems. Any more information would completely spoil it. But the animation is beautiful, the voice actress for the girl is great, the song is good and the plot is very bittersweet.
It's only 6 minutes, and I would very much recommend you give it a shot. You've got nothing to lose!
Blood-C: TV Series and Movie 11/2
So in the spirit of Halloween and my rewatch of Blood the Last Vampire (which I would highly recommend), I decided to watch one of the many series' inspired by the movie. Blood C has one 12 episode series and one full feature movie, and it was disappointing. I liked the idea that the series had for the story, however I do not believe that they were able to properly act it out. In the series, Saya is otherwise a normal, bright eyed, happy go lucky girl, who lives in a shrine and attends high school. But at night she fights and kills monsters. and for the first three episodes she does the exact same thing with barely any difference.
The first episode starts with Saya waking up, doing her shrine maiden duties, going to a cafe to eat, singing a not so great song about how happy and great everything is, going to school, coming home and fighting monsters. The exact same thing happens for the next 3 or 4 episodes with no change to the plot of the episode. After that a few things do change, but the series just largely repeats itself. it is only at the last 3 episodes that they make real progression and things are not repeated. And let me tell you those last few episodes were great.
A few other things to mention, during the series Saya has flash backs that were very clearly and obviously taken from the original movie, including images of the monsters. However the monsters in this series are completely different in both appearance and action. Which I feel was a bad decision to tie the stories together as canon if not only the names of the creatures, but also their appearance and actions are completely different. Not to mention that the animation style is very different between the original and this series that it was jarring to see the original flashbacks.
Speaking of style, this series was made by clamp so not only does the art style appear very similar to XXX Holic, but it also includes Watanuki from the same show as a major player in forwarding the plot. Which was really neat to see, and very much like Clamp to try to tie in all of its shows together in the same general universe.
As a while, I do not think the anime was that good. It very much felt like they had taken the plot and story boards of a movie and decided last minute to turn it into a 12 episode TV series, but because they couldn't think of anything else to add to the story they just decided to repeat scenes and pretend that there is actual plot progression. The series really would have been much better if they had turned it into a movie or an OVA with 3 or 4 episodes.
Fast forwarding a little to the movie, it is completely different in both style and plot. It picks up about 6 months after the actions of the TV series' last episode. The movie was not that bad in plot but still has many many flaws. For one thing, the animation style flip flops between 3D CGI and hand drawn. Normally I'm alright with the usage of CGI when it makes sense and at least somewhat flows with the style of the hand drawn animation. However this one did not. Very often it would layer moving hand drawn animation and moving CGI very obviously in the same frame. Further the detail ans style of the CGI did not match the hand drawn detail and style either. Another jarring mismatch in the Blood C series as a while. Moving on, the meeting of the first main character and Saya was way too convenient, and did not match the facts that the movie gives later on. When Saya and the main cast first meet, the main cast has no idea who she is whatsoever. But later in the movie the main cast talks about how they have heard so much of her and were looking for her. So which is it?
I could go into further detail, because there is more about the movie and the TV series that I had problems with, but I still don't want to give spoiler in case anyone wants to watch it themselves. All in all, I don't recommend this series, I was very disappointed. If you want to know more about Saya aside from the original movie Blood: The Last Vampire, you should watch Blood+. It also has its issues and goes into a lull halfway through the series because it gets incredibly slow paced, but the story is well put together, the animation flows, and it fits significantly better with the original than Blood C does. But I would not recommend Blood C.
Anime to Watch this Halloween/October
5 Worthwhile commitments-Draft
These are some of the anime that I love, that are well worth the time it takes to watch all of the content. Anime on this list will be ones that have well over 2 full seasons of content. So any anime that is over 60 episodes and/or has a series of movies and tv seasons bundled together.
That being said there will be a number of anime that I would recommend highly but do not meet the limit that would take it to incredibly long status. For example, Soul Eater is not on this list, even though it is a fantastic anime, because even though it has 4 seasons, each season is about 12 episodes, adding up to 51 episodes. Its long, but not unusual in terms of anime run time. Here I am specifically talking about the anime who has a shit-ton of episodes and movies.

Here I'm going to give you guys a list of anime which has either only a few episodes (under 10) or has a number of episodes but at only 2-8 minutes in length.
For now, there are only 3 short anime that I love enough to recommend, so if you have any others please go ahead and recommend them to me. I will post 3 More Short Gems, when I actually find more in the future, as a separate post.

R.O.D.
Now I know what your saying, does an OVA really count? In some cases, including this one, yes.
This OVA for Read or Die is completely different and unrelated the the 26 episode series under the title R.O.D. the TV. I have not watched the 26 episode anime, however the premise is completely different and none of these characters appeared in the OVA. In fact I'm surprised this 3 episode anime was an OVA at all and not simply a movie. It walks and talks like a movie, with a complete plot that is resolved in the end, but both anime list and wikipedia call it an OVA
The OVA follows Yomiko Readman a bibliomaniac (obsessed with books), who works for a secret agency, with a secret ability. She is able to manipulate paper to her will. Here she and her new partner are tasked to discover REWATCH TO REMEMBER PLOT
It is incredibly good. This was one of the earlier ones I watched when I just started getting into anime. I love the characters, the plot, the mystery. I loved it so much that I bought the manga (all 4 volumes) and binge read it. The OVA takes place after the manga, but it's not plot relevant, so you can watch it without spoilers or being absolutely confused.
(Oh, and the opening song is fantastic)
Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal
Another somewhat OVA for Ruroni Kenshin. The four episodes tell the story of how Kenshin got the scar on his cheek when he was a younger more rash samurai.
If your unfamiliar with Ruroni Kenshin, its a samurai show from the late 90s, with a whole 94 episodes, that was incredibly good. It follows Kenshin, a wandering samurai during the Meiji era (where samurai and wielding swords were becoming illegal as Japan quickly started to adopt western culture), who has vowed to never kill again and instead use his skills to protect the weak. Kenshin wanders into a town where he becomes friends with a woman, named Kaoru, whose family has taught kendo at her families dojo for generations. The series follows Kenshin and Kaoru as they make friends, fight new and old enemies, and develop their relationship with each other and others. Its an incredibly good action, adventure, comedy anime with lots of samurai.
This anime is the story of before he met Kaoru and before he became a wandering samurai, a ruroni. It's incredibly well done, the story is beautiful, we get to see a different side of Kenshin, and its much more serious than the TV series.
I would highly recommend it even to anyone who has not watched Ruroni Kenshin. Because its a prequel, there are no spilers. Just be careful to only watch the 4 episodes specifically of Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, other OVAs where released with the name Samurai X as well and they take place after the events of the TV show Ruroni Kenshin.
Time of Eve
At six episodes, It was definitely worth the watch. Time of Eve is a sci-fi anime taking place in the not quite as distant as you might think future, where androids are commonplace within the average family home. We follow Rikuo who, after reading the location log of his families android, discovers that the android visited a cafe of her own free will. Confused and concerned, he visits the cafe to find that its only rule is to treat humans and androids equally without discrimination. From here on he, and the audience discover that there is more to androids than just being a robot, and that they are, or have been steadily developing their own individuality.
Right off the bat I was immediately reminded of both Ghost in the Shell and Chobits. Mostly Ghost in the Shell for the political-socio topics the anime discuses. Its actually quite fascinating, not just the topics and themes, but the personalities of the characters as well whether or not they are human. Its a very realistic/natural anime, with a surprising amount of character development for being only six episodes long.
The show easily drew me into the story both mentally and emotionally. I would recommend this to anyone interested in sci-fi, robots/androids, and those who like to question what it is to be ‘human’. (It’s also a good commentary on 21st century culture and what kinds of things our technology could lead to).
