“Do griffins have mammary glands?” greatest question in the history of natural history, closed by the ICZN after twelve centuries of heated debate
They lay eggs why would they have mammary glands
Wait why do they lay eggs though
Okay so I changed my answer. Their lower body is a lion, so they should give live birth and breastfeed.
Beaks aren't known to be real good for breastfeeding. Gonna have to give 'em some real danglers back there.
Platypuses sweat milk, instead of having nipples. Maybe griffin mammary glands express out their mouths, the way some birds feed their young with crop milk.
(Also using the platypus analogy to let the griffin be an egg-layer and not have to fit the awkward-shaped babies with hard pointy parts through a birth canal. Because yowch.)
