Jade pendant in the form of a rabbit, Western Zhou Dynasty, circa 900 BC
from The Norton Museum of Art
some things at the louvre I enjoyed seeing
pro tip: be a member of the amis du louvre to skip the lines. and go on a wednesday evening to avoid major crowds
regular days at the louvre are actually my living hell. people seem to lose all sense of spatial awareness in there. its open late on wednesdays and fridays and thats the best time to go. its still crowded as all hell but you can breathe a little better comparatively
Terracotta vase in the form of a duck, Greek mid 6th century BC
from The Metropolitan Museum of Art
My archeology class has really given me a renewed and visceral hatred of ancient aliens shitheads literally the laziest and most incurious and thoroughly racist pseudoscience in existence
Archeologists: the sarcophagus lid of Pakal the Great depicts the moment of his transformation from a living lord to a sacred ancestor, literally poised between life and death along the axis of the World Tree as he descends into the underworld. It's a beautiful and stunning piece of art providing an unparalleled glimpse of Maya cosmology.
Literally the stupidest person alive: it spaceship
