i don't agree with anything about my sign, astrology is fake.
I see and hear a lot of this and I’m glad to get an opportunity to give my perspective on it and address the matter of astrology and its “inaccuracy”. Unfortunately, many people are under the impression that astrology is something that tells us exactly who we are and sorts us into a category. That isn’t the essence of it at all. Stay with me on this one, it is going to be quite lengthy: whenever we read an explanation of our sign or a placement (whether it be sun sign, moon sign, ascendant, venus etc) it is important to remember that it is an interpretation made by another person. No description is set in stone, nothing is when it comes to astrology. These descriptions, chart readings and so on can only be made out of an objective perspective when it comes to you personally. This doesn’t mean that an objective perspective is useless, but it won’t be a portrait of you, but rather a collection of interpretations of separate placements and only how they connect on a very small scale - never what they add up to as a whole. Someone can easily look at your dominant planet, sign, aspects and see what placements are the more prominent ones, but it isn’t possible to mesh all of these placements together into one, clear, picture of a person. Hence, we don’t know you. I like to think of astrology as a subjective science, or form of art if you will. It is a ground for self-exploration, and ultimately self-knowledge. While the objective perspective can be very helpful, it is the own, subjective perspective that can offer true insight. For the individual, astrology can work as a map: it can be hard to read at first, but once you become more familiar with it you can read it in many different ways to find the answers you’re looking for.
Astrology is no more of a pseudo-science than any other science - all sciences are based on concepts that are fabricated by humans. There is no right and wrong, only interpretation. Astrology is something you need to approach with an open mind, and when looking at your placements and aspects, you need to think “What can I take from this?” and “In what ways can this be applicable to me?” Yes, it may be uncomfortable to uncover unflattering or negative things about yourself, but that is the purpose of it - learning about yourself encompasses both the good and bad. Essentially, not being able to relate to astrology or not believing in it usually stems from being unable to let go of the stern rationality that science often encompasses. Astrology is not like biology or physics: it is a personal science. Like philosophy it isn’t limited by a frame, rather it is all about interpretation. This however doesn’t make it any less of a science. People have looked to the stars for guidance and answers since the dawn of time. Since we are all practically made from stars (yes, all organic matter containing carbon was produced originally in stars) why is it so strange to think that they would have an impact on us? Space is the single greatest thing of our existence, and to me it seems unreasonable to look for answers in earth-bound concepts, when there is something as infinite and powerful as space.

How does one become so cultured?
I think it’s all a matter of curiosity. Always questioning things in a healthy way. Mastering the mindset of believing that there is something to extract in everything, and being intensely driven to find out what that is. Being able to unveil hidden wisdoms from even the most banal or ugly of surfaces. To harbor an incessant hunger for collecting as much knowledge and insight as possible - to try, experience, read, listen to, watch, take in as much as you possibly can (even that which you deem uninteresting) and from this, you’ll ultimately be able to distill your own wisdom. My belief is, that being cultured isn’t at all about simply having consumed a large body of knowledge throughout your life, but rather about possessing the ability to extract your own essence out of that collected knowledge.
