steel-plated-heart:
Ashitaka’s gaze lingered to the man that they had arrested and were preparing for transport. His gaze locked onto Ashitaka’s own and the man grinned wildly sending a chill down his spine as he continued walking down the street.
The dull pain in his arm reminded him that he was in no condition to do anything at the moment and he held it closer as he pulled his eyes away from the man. He could feel someone jogging up behind him.
“Ash? Ash! Can we talk, please?”
If it had been anyone else he would’ve ignored them, but he stopped in his tracks and looked down before turning to meet her.
“What is it?”
Rhienne was surprised when he actually stopped, and had to stop abruptly in front of him to keep from running into him.
"I...” she had not really thought this through. It wasn’t exactly an easy, or hard thing to ask. She should not have even had to ask.
“Did... did the Chief put you up to something? I mean, is there a reason why you are acting outside the law, and ignoring us? You are still an officer, sir... and being an officer means you have a team to back you up. And that’s me... why won’t you tell us what’s going on?”
“You don’t have to do this alone...” Rhienne finished softly, watching him carefully. He was obviously in pain, and looked so alone. She especially hated it because he didn’t have to be.
