—☁︎。⋆。 Chrissy operated on a system of making herself small so that she wouldn’t burden anyone. That included on dates. Though, the action was appreciated and Eddie opening and closing her door definitely made her feel like a lady. One who was just entering her coach and about to make her way to the assembly to dance the night away. A date was similar enough that her thoughts went wild as she imagined the scenarios. Would Eddie be her ball date, or the simple coachman that she was carrying feelings for. The one she would sneak away with once everyone was dancing and too distracted to notice whether she was there or not.
His declaration popped Chrissy back into reality. She could see how that would be a little bit embarrassing. Especially a grown man holding onto one of the little chairs. “I can help you. I’m definitely sturdier than I look,” the blonde made a muscle whilst looking at Eddie oh-so-seriously. More than anything, she was just happy to spend time with him. That he was willing to do something out of his comfort zone because she liked it. Just to make her happy. He was amazing.
“Hi.” Her reply was just as quiet as his initial greeting to her. Kissing him, even gentle, chaste ones like the one they just shared still gave her butterflies. It was nice. Chrissy loved feeling like a giddy teenager and, somehow, he elicited it from her every time. “I’m so glad we’re still doing this. Thank you, Eddie.”
SHE WAS CUTE. VERY CUTE. Eddie couldn’t help but grin as he went in for the kiss, a chuckle stifled by her lips. He could get used to this—quick kisses in greeting, driving Chrissy around in his van; it wasn’t royal service (she definitely deserved more), but she’d enjoyed herself the first time, enough to agree to go out with him again… Maybe he would get used to this.
After pulling away, he met her gaze, brows knitted loosely together, head cocked curiously to one side. ❝ What’re you thanking me for? ❞ He couldn’t help but snort, shaking his head exasperatedly as he settled back into his seat, buckling his seatbelt before pulling out of the driveway. ❝ Really, I’m the one who should be thanking you. ❞ He cast her a sideways glance, a brow quirked.
It really did seem like he should be thanking her. Not many books were written about the Queen being seen with the town Freak. She was doing him a favor and risking a lot by going out with him...or so it seemed to Eddie. ❝ Especially with those muscles. I’m in good hands. ❞
