I’ve returned. The past few days have been... busy.

“Hm. I suppose. It’s something that I don’t quite understand completely myself. Something about how my DNA was compatible with a lorikeets DNA, or had some of the same DNA, or something like that. All I know is that when I transform, I have wings and a tail.”

“Night market. Floating market, happens once every two weeks. It’s where the magic people go to compare notes, exchange services, and generally not bother with concealing the tiaras.” She shrugs. “You’ll find a lot of people just meet here. But there’s no fighting at Night Market. Mostly because no one else wants a fight here.”

“I’m not planning on fighting anyone! I’m much more civilized than that. I don’t fight unless there’s an absolute need to. But I don’t have any notes to compare, or any services to offer. I’m just a waitress who happens to be a bird.”

“No. Heroics,” the girl repeats. Looking around, it’s like she’s stumbled into one of those old paintings of demons’ markets, with a more modern twist.

She looks around, her brows furrowing. “I don’t understand what you mean. What’s going on?”

“That puts you up on some of the ladies with frills of justice I’ve seen going about. Welcome to the Night Market. No heroics.”

“I wouldn’t put myself above them just for my weapon. It wasn’t exactly my choice. And I’m not someone who just fights crime and deals with ‘justice’, I deal mostly with otherworldy beings that don’t deserve to be on this planet.”
