Every year on my birthday I post something of the two of them! Rui has always been my favorite pjsk character even before I found out we have the same birthday! Plus Longya has always been my favorite Chinese vocaloid ! So it's been a fun tradition the past four years :3

I bought Kaito v3 a little while ago !! I think the next VB id like to have is either v3 Zola project or Gakupo (maybe Meiko as well)

Kamui Gakupo is a voicebank for the Vocaloid Program.
His voice provider is GACKT.
Developed by InternetCo Ltd, Gakupo was originally released on July 31st of 2008 for the Vocaloid 2 update. When he was released he was slow to gain popularity originally. At this time masculine voicebanks were not as popular. In V3 he originally looked like this.

Gakupo was also updated for Vocaloid 3 (July 13 2012) and Vocaloid 4 (April 30 2015). His appearance also got an update.

However unlike some of the other Vocaloids I've talked about, Gakupo only has a Japanese voicebank.
A fun fact about his name (or one of them anyways,,): anytime you see a name with "poid" at the end of it, it essentially means "vocaloid version of". Which is where "GACKpoid" comes from.
While the concept of character items is entirely fan made (specifically with Vocaloids) Gakupos character item was included in his Nendoroid figurine. It's an eggplant!
The intention with Gakupos design was to be a samurai with a cyber style. His katana actually has a name. It is called "Gakutou Miburi". It has musical patterns on the blade that make noise when swung around.
Gakupo was the first voicebank created with a famous musician as his voice provider. He was the first Vocaloid created by InternetCo as well as the first InternetCo Vocaloid to get an update.

Gakupo has been included in official and unofficial concerts. Most notably the Nico Nico Douga concerts. He has also been included in a number of vocaloid series. Such as Evillious Chronicles and the Bad End Night series. He was even included in a Vocaloid VKei band called VanN'Ice (alongside Kaito and Len).

Gakupo is my favorite vocaloid out of all of them! I think his design is very fun and I really like a lot of the songs using him :3 My favorite vocaloid song of all time is Specimen girl which uses Gakupo.

Meiko and Kaito are voicebanks created for the Vocaloid 1 program.
Meiko was released November 4th of 2004. Her voice provider is Meiko Haigō. They share the same name and they kind of look alike which is fun.
Meiko was the first Japanese vocaloid ever created. She was also the only female voicebank to be updated from Vocaloid 1.
Meiko was originally created with just a Japanese voicebank. Then when she was picked up by Crypton, and updated to Vocaloid 3 (Feb 4 2014) she gained an English voicebank. She also has a SUPERPACK voicebank (Aug 30 2024).
She was one of the original "Project Daisy" voicebanks. Which was what the first Vocaloids were called during development. Meaning Leon, Lola, Hanako, and Taro.
These are 4 of the 5 original Vocaloid 1 voicebanks. The only one missing is Miriam ,,,,
While Leon and Lola's names stayed the same when they were released, Hanako and Taro were what later became Meiko and Kaito.
Meikos name during production was Hanako. Which is basically the Japanese equivalent of "Jane" or any "default" female name.

Kaito was released February 14th of 2006. His voice provider is Naoto Fūga. Naoto Fūga is known in the fandom for being a big fan of Kaito. He calls him his son which is fun I think.
Kaito was the second Japanese voicebanks created. He was the first male Japanese voicebank and the only male voicebank ever updated from Vocaloid 1. Kaito was also one of the "Project Daisy" Vocaloids. He was originally called Taro. Which is the Japanese equivalent of "John" or a "default" male name.
Kaito was originally a Japanese only voicebank, but when he was picked up by Crypton snd updated into Vocaloid 3 (Feb 15 2013) he gained an English voicebank. He also has a SUPERPACK voicebank (Aug 30 2024).

Kaito and Meiko had their names changed not only to be easier for western users to pronounce, but also to complement one another. They're meant to go together. Both in name and sound.
These two were originally produced by YAMAHA and then later on picked up by Crypton. Kaito was considered acommercial failure upon release. Which makes it more interesting to me that he was picked up again in 2013 for Vocaloid 3. Meiko was one of the more popular V1 Vocaloids.
Kaito and Meiko were the fist Vocaloids to have illustrated box art. Leon and Lola did not have character appearances and Miriam just had a photo of her voice provider as her box art.
At the time YAMAHA was not interested in giving the voices appearances. Still til this day they do not like giving the characters a lot of details so that people don't feel limited. It seems they are going back to not doing much for box art with Vocaloid 6.
Kaito and Meiko have no official ages or last names. Though, the fandom sometimes will give Kaito the last name "Shion".
Meiko is sometimes called Sakine Meiko.
However this is technically a separate character. Sakine Meiko is considered a Fanloid because she is a 16 year old idol version of Meiko. Her voice is a pitched up Meiko. I personally don't like this Fanloid very much. I prefer normal Meiko,,,, Her design is cute I'm just not a huge fan of the concept. She does have a character model in project diva though.
There originally was no plan to update Kaito and Meiko after Vocaloid 1. Crypton planned to have Hatsune Miku take over their roles. I am very happy they did not do this. Kaito and Meiko are my favorites out of the Crypton 6.
These two were made to go together. That detail makes me very happy,,, They are often given a duet song in miku expos and things like that. It's fun!

Welcome to the world of vocal synthesizers! I tend to like the less mainstream ones. However, I don't mind writing about her :P I heart Vocal Synths!!
Hatsune Miku (Code name CV01) is a voicebank originally released for the VOCALOID 2 program. She was released August 31st of 2007.
Her voice provider is Saki Fujita.
Miku is described as being 16 years old. Shes 5ft and 2in tall and weighs about 92lbs. These are the only canon things about her other than her appearance. This is the case with most VOCALOIDS. This is so the users are able to be as creative as they want with the stories they tell using these characters.
Hatsune Miku is the most popular vocaloid. Many people might not know what a vocal synthesizer is but they might know Miku. Lots of people are under the impression that she was the first ever VOCALOID. Which isn't true. She wasn't even the first VOCALOID released for V2. (It was Sweet Ann btw) The first ever VOCALOIDS were called LEON and LOLA.
While she was originally released for the VOCALOID 2 program, she also has a V3 and V4. Also, a V6 update is being released next year.
Though these aren't her only voicebanks. She has a few voicebanks outside of the VOCALOID program. Hatsune Miku NT (2020) was created for the Piapro studio NT engine. Hatsune Miku Super Pack (2024) is a refined version of her V4 Voicebank created for the Piapro studio program as well as VOCALOID 4.
Some vocal synths have multiple language voicebanks. Miku is one of those! She started off as a Japanese only voicebank. Though, later in her VOCALOID 3 update she was given an English voicebank. Then, in the VOCALOID 4 update she was given a Chinese voicebank.
Hatsune Miku is owned by Crypton. Their original concept for her was "an android diva in the near-future world where songs are lost."
Unlike Kaito and Meiko, Miku was a commercial success. To the point where Crypton couldn't keep up. While Kaito and Meiko are owned by Crypton, Miku was the first Voicebank developed by Crypton. Kaito and Meiko were picked up by Crypton later on.
Before Miku, the VOCALOID program was still considered pretty obscure. One of my favorite songs using Miku was the first VOCALOID songs on Nico Nico Douga to reach 1,000,000 views. It reached 1,000,000+ views in less than a month.
Hatsune Miku has been included in multiple video games and promotional materials. Project Sekai, Project DIVA, JUST DANCE, Brave Frontier, Persona 4:Dancing all night, Monster Hunter Frontier Z, Love Nikki, Project Mirai, Muse Dash, Battle Cats, Fortnite, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds ETC...

I posted my first ever UTAU cover today!
I've been a huge fan of vocal synthesizers for a very long time. It means a whole lot to me that I was able to use them myself finally! The tuning is awkward and the mixing probably isn't great but it's a start,,,, I'm not super unhappy with the final product :3

Apologies for getting to this so late!! These are another two I'm not SUPER familiar with, so thank you for suggesting them!
Bibi and Wistaria are voicebanks for the UTAU program.
Bibi Jyougasaki was released October 4th of 2019.
Her introduction quote is "For attractive lips, speak words of kindness." Which is an Audrey Hepburn quote.
Wistaria Toujoh was released September 1st of 2019.
Her introduction quote is "For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people" which is an Audrey Hepburn quote as well.
One of the interesting things about these two is that they share a voice provider! Not only with each other but with Gahata Meiji as well! That voice provider being Curomi Saccu. (This is also the person who created the three of these characters)
Because of the shared voice provider Bibi and Wistaria are classified as derivatives of Gahata Meiji.
The year Bibi and Wistaria were released is the same year that Meiji's UTAU voicebank was originally discontinued.
Just like Gahata Meiji, both Bibi and Wistaria are classified as Majolica Maidens.
While they were both released separate from each other. Bibi and Wistaria were created as counterparts to each other. They were made to be friends.
Bibi Jyougasaki has one voicebank. It is described as a more mature version of Meijis sound. Bibi's voicebank has two tones. Strong and weak. Her strong tone is titled "Leopard" and her weak tone is titled "Dalmatian".
Her voicebank is still in its beta stage. This would explain why there's not much variety in her voicebank tones yet.
Wistaria Toujoh also only has one voicebank currently. It is described as a "cuter version" of Gahata Meiji. She seems to only have one tone.

Gahata Meiji was a voicebank released on August 8th of 2012 for the UTAU program.
She was made in collaboration with a Lolita clothing store named "Lifulu". Despite her popularity she was still discontinued... which is ,, intereresting. She was known for being a very high quality voicebank for UTAU at the time.
And still now I'm sure.
If I remember correctly the creator of Hatsune Miku stated that Meiji was used as inspiration in some way for Megurine Lukas V4 voicebank.
Gahata Meiji was officially discontinued November 11th of 2019.
Since she is discontinued her website has been taken down. Which means it's difficult if not impossible to download her.
Meijis voice provider is Curomi Saccu. On her wiki page she is described as a "Majolica maiden". Which is a type of ceramic piece.
Her concept is a combination of a witch, fashion designer, and singer all in one. Meiji is described as being a dreamer who yearns to be a heroine.
In her full character art she has a little demon companion. Their name is frill.
Though!! On August 1st of 2025 her creator stated that something new would be created with Meiji. Later, On the 8th of the same month it was revealed what that specific thing would be. Since it's now September I can tell you that Gahata Meiji officially has a Diffsinger voicebank as of four weeks ago!! This artwork of her resembles her witch design more than her usually outfit.
Her older design is a lot more simple than her new one. It reminds me of Sukone Tei in a way,,,

The ZOLA project were three voicebanks created for the Vocaloid program. This consisted of KYO WIL and YUU.
They were originally introduced in the Vocaloid 3 update. (June 2013) Then, later updated for the Vocaloid 6 update! (June 2023)
This is their official designs for V6!
What's cool about these guys is that they all come together! Similar to the Kagamine's! The concept for ZOLA project was the first Vocaloid boy band!
Kyos voice provider is Yuu Miyazaki! (Who also did this art work! Kyo is the one in the middle.)
Kyo is 180cm tall (about 5ft 10in) and he weighs 60kg (about 132lbs). He is an Aquarius and his blood type is B. His voice is described as being "fair and strong".
Yuus voice provider is Minoru Takahashi!
He is 170cm tall (about 5ft6in) and weighs 53kg (about 116lbs). Yuu is a Gemini and his blood type is B. His voice is described as being "adolescent and sweet".
WILs voice provider is M.Cayton! He is 178cm (also about 5ft10in) and he weighs 58kg (about 127lbs).
WIL is a Capricorn and his blood type is A. His voice is described as "exotic and husky".
For their V6 voicebanks it seems they were developed by InternetCo who also own Kamui Gakupo, Megpoid Gumi, Gachapoid, Lily, Cul, galaco, Kokone,Chika, Otomatchi Una, Hibiki Koto, Tsuina-chan, Yuzuki Yukaru, etc.
Another detail about their Vocaloid 6 voicebanks I personally find really cool is that Yuu Miyazaki returned to update Kyos voicebank. However, the other two were reconstructed using their old Vocaloid3 voicebanks.
ZOLA stands for "Zenithal Operated Liaison Aggregation".
These three were supposed to work as a small range of voices that blend well with each other. Yuu covering the upper ranges, WIL covering the lower ranges, and Kyo covering the middle ranges.
There was a good amount of advertising done for them (Unlike Kaito and Meiko..). There was a ZOLA project manga that followed the three characters in their goal to become popular. It was written by Takkyuu Shounen and illustrated by Yumeno Haruka.

CIDERTALK'84

This specific character comes from one of my favorite vocal synth programs. The characters are so interesting to me.
Cidertalk'84 is a voicebank/character for the CHIPSPEECH program. He was released on September 1st of 2016. He was the 9th character released for the program.
Unlike most popular vocal synth programs, CHIPSPEECH has lore for their characters.
Cidertalk is my favorite from this program. I also really like S.A.M.(I'll talk about him some other day :3) His story is interesting to me.
When Cidertalk was 13, he got into a bad accident involving a drunk driver. This caused him to lose his voice due to larynx damage. He didn't like any of the prosthetics offered to him, so he made his own. His parents brought him a desktop computer due to laptops not being a thing at the time. He used this computer to code and play a game called Zork. (It's a text adventure game that was released in 1977)
It is canon that Cidertalk was alive during Ronald Regan's reelection. It's canonically the first time he ever voted.
In present time he is a multimillionaire with "factory manufactured charm". He runs a corporation called CiTech.
Cidertalk is also called Doctor. While most doctors usually have a PHD in medicine or economics. It's canon that he had a PHD in everything...
He brags a whole lot about what he knows. On his website description it says that any time anything goes right he WILL make sure to let you know it's because of him. Lots of people agree that he's a genius they just can't list a single thing Cidertalk has ever done.
Cidertalk is close with Dandy704. He also calls Otto Mozer "the floating orb"

I really really like CHIPSPEECH voicebanks. I always liked the more robotic vocal synthesizers. Plus I find the story with these characters pretty fun. I'm pretty sure they all have twitter accounts dedicated to them.

Oune Meno is a voicebank for the UTAU program.
Their voice provider is Hime-Uzura. Meno was released on May 1st of 2022.
They are described as a very big fan of Kasane Teto.
Their character website saying that they are unable to speak in front of Teto. Oune Menos outfit is military inspired just like Tetos is and their signature hairstyle coils towards the end.
Oune Meno is 22 years old yet they are described to look like they are 11.
Oune Meno is described as a Kuudere, which is a personality type that is described as a character who appears emotionless but has a softer sided deep down.
One website says that Meno was created when Hime-Uzura was in elementary school. Which if that is true that's super cool!! Having an original character you made because you like Teto a whole lot turn into an UTAU later is fun. :3

With that said I genuinely REALLY like Oune Menos voice I think they sound super cool. With the covers I've seen their voicebank sounds very high quality and clear. So thank you so much to the person who mentioned them in the tags!
