     monday, quite frankly, had been hell. with eamon gone, and kyle calling in sick, hazel had a lot of mess to pick up, and was successful in doing so despite being slightly stressed. her day started early and ended late, but she managed it in one piece, and by the time monday drifted into tuesday, hazel felt far, far better. tea straight from deja brew sat on the counter with mickey’s name on it in the barista’s quick scrawl, hazel’s considering it a peace offering for being less than relaxed yesterday, despite perhaps having good reason to be as such. either way, hazel’s head lifts as mickey wanders in to start the day, tucking the fresh stack of consent forms under the counter, ready to plucked from the pile and signed by whoever plans on wandering through their doors today. “mornin’ !” and already, it’s clear that today is far better than yesterday in hazel-land. “sorry for bein’ a little frazzled yesterday. i gotcha a tea. you doin’ okay ?”

“It’s fine, you had every right to be.” Mickey’s about to go on about how she understands how stressful it must have been for Hazel, when she processes the word tea. “Hazey daisy, you are the love of my life, the best of the best, my absolute favorite human. I have never been better, you bought me tea.” Okay, maybe, she wasn’t doing too great -- she’d barely slept and almost fell asleep walking to work -- but tea combined with happy Hazel was enough to brighten her mood. She takes a moment to sip at the tea, allow herself to wake up more, before speaking again. “I suppose I should really be the one asking that question -- how’re you doin’?”
